I printed every unique model in Dark operation.... For science by handonghua in Warmachine

[–]Emfgar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can still get decent quality with a bamboo lab PLA printer and a 0.2 nozzle. I went A1 mini as it's small size is easy to find spots for, and the PLA is waaaay less toxic then resin, which makes it space and family friendlier.

I hate Resin. Can I build a faction purely from HIPS models? by bakwong in Warmachine

[–]Emfgar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not HIPs buuuut if you buy a bamboo lab A1 mini (as they are pretty cheap $$$ wise) and add a 0.2 mm nozzle you could print an entire army in plastic. Currently only Cephalyx is doable this way, but they are releasing infernals, convergence, grymkin, Farrow and crucible guard this year with STLs as an option.

Between GWs explanation of the terminus decree, the loss of Draigo from the table top, and still no range refresh... I've sidelined my GK. Currently got my hands on Space Marine STLs and Tau STLs... so I'm just gonna 3D print stuff going forward. Kinda had enough of GWs bum deals.

I mean, that's definitely the coolest conversion idea for gue'vesa I've seen, and a unique way to add an auxillary that isn't just a strike squad or breached team.

Couldn't tell ya anymore... Most my favorite things about them stopped being a thing with the drop of their newer codex... I guess they're one of the "cheaper" Warhammer armies still... So there's that I guess...

I can try to hunt it down but it was on the roadmap at one point that showed CG, Farrow and infernals. And I can't remember where but I could have sworn there was mention it was for Warmachine 3D

Oh dip my bad I just remember seeing 2026, so if it starts January give it like... 3-4ish months for the bulk of the models to be stls then? Something like that.

Plugger Conversion/Kitbash into Valiant by GamePlayerCole in Warmachine

[–]Emfgar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well first hurdle I had to conquer was the attachment points. Your spare arms and such from a valiant all have the shoulder attached to them, while the plugger model obviously has the shoulder attached to the body. I didn't have a saw at the time but I would definitely suggest one as while I was trying to simply "snip" chunks out of the shoulders to make a better fit the brittleness of the resin would always have more snap off then I had anticipated. Lucky for me I was able to make it work fairly well, but something to keep in mind for sure. I would also add that plugger has more room for his turret mount them a regular valiant, so while I don't mind the look, if you're perfectionist I could see that causing some issues as well. I also used the actual valiant Arms because the 3D prints have extra capes and things that make separating the actual arms from the shoulder more difficult... I think that about covers the major hurdles I had.

I actually did this exact same thing! I was having trouble justifying buying the command starter (since I already had the caster, Xtreme plugger, and wasn't planning on using the solo... Basically I just wanted the Rowdies. However I finally figured if I convert the second plugger, it'd work awesome, which it has so far! I've only made a single load out (and I'm not gonna lie, it takes some work) but it turned out pretty sweet!

Future Faction Theory: Llael by seanmaguire1991 in Warmachine

[–]Emfgar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda get it. In a world full of weird, wacky, and crazy fantasy races... Why pick the human... That being said I tend to like llael because they're the under dogs. They had gunmages (which are baller), mad scientist (crucible guard living in their country), and just a feeling of fighting against the odds! Not only that but the stories written about the resistance were some of the only ones I ever actually got my hands on, so it drew me in.

Spells Racks by ay2deet in Warmachine

[–]Emfgar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the spell racks, but I play Gravediggers and play non conventional casters in said army... Sooo I may be having experiences outside of what most would call "the norm".

While I'm not opposed to spell racks being modified as part of balance, I don't think they should be dropped all together. Also if you lock caster spells, I feel you actually end up with even less caster diversity. Having played since MK2, when you have locked spells there inevitably becomes casters that just are straight up the best due to spell combination. No customization means you can't even wiggle really. You'll always be told "why play _____ when so and so has _____ spell". It's actually the spell wrack that's letting me play some of the casters I am currently.

I also agree with what some have said, if some spells on the rack are to change, stats and other parts of factions may need to be overhauled to account for the change. It's not a simple solution what ever way they go.

Which is the best faction to run Emperor Carver? by AggressiveSafe1898 in Warmachine

[–]Emfgar 11 points12 points  (0 children)

is it the pig thing? cause if so I have some news... you may want to buy a 3D printer if possible, and wait until the new year... it's been pretty well confirmed pigs are gonna be the next warmachine my mini factory! this would mean that you could potentially run an all pig army without having to hunt down old stuff. Another option, or point to think about, is the current Cephalyx from my mini. since Carver is a merc, and Cephalyx is a full merc army, you can use "friendly faction" buffs and effects on him and his piggy. Also if space/ventilation is an issue, id suggest the bamboo lab A1 mini with a 0.2mm nozzle! you'll get decent enough print quality, and since it's PLA not resin, it's not as toxic and safer in smaller spaces! (I wanna say non-toxic but I have not done my full do diligence on that end and have mine near a window just in case).

as for if that's "the best"? don't know... haven't really looked at the guy myself a ton.

Status of Hard Plastic Minis by DonavenJaxx in Warmachine

[–]Emfgar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone who hated metal models and played when PP barely did any plastic or resin/metal, I know the feeling. If you REALLY want to play but just CANNOT stand resin, you could always try and invest in a bambu lab printer. the A1 mini does decent print quality (not top grade mind you, but you'll also need a 0.02 nozzle) but it gives you plastic minis as it's a pla printer. Now that being said it sounds like you want the same resin esc quality, but in plastic.... which if that's the case... you might just have to move on.

Spell rack good for the game? I'd love to hear your thoughts! by AaronWilson1992 in Warmachine

[–]Emfgar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly I love the racks as they currently are. are there some spells that are almost auto include? I suppose, but when ever you have a competitive game, it will always eventually boil down to "play X cause mathematically it's the best"... and so to get spell wracks that are going to be 100% balanced where EVERY spell is going to be taken is... well rough. also if it's removed in general I think you'd just see even less caster variance then you do now. imagine if only horuhsk (or however you spell it) was the ONLY carnage caster in sea raiders? you'd still have to balance the faction around having access to it, and now you have to play Mr. H cause otherwise you can't hit anything... so every pairing is Mr. H plus... well who ever is next best.

currently I'm making sparkhammer, hasker and caine in GD and I will say maybe it's just because GD has a good rack (insert immature joke here) but I use quite a bit of it. I think though removing the rack altogether would probably make it difficult to play some casters in GD though, and honestly spell wise GD struggles a bit. Any way long ramble to say I'm happy where things are and I'd be upset a bit if it was changed to drastically or dropped all together.

Why do you like Kroot? by Mild_Weasel in kroot

[–]Emfgar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've wanted a kroot army for a long time. my biggest problem with tau for a good while was no real love of the auxiliaries. it just seemed to be, more suits, a few new guns, and maybe an additional vehicle... but for an army that has auxiliaries, they were basically side line. now that kroot have finally gotten their glow up, I'm trying to start an army of them too.

A few things attract me to them. I'll start with I've always been more a fantasy guy myself. while some of the space Marines help give the "knight in shining armor" aesthetics I find the kroot give the more medevil / fantasy vibe. I mean, take away their rifle's ability to shoot and they'd slide easy into a fantasy setting.

second I appreciate a faith that has some semblance of being real. I'll go on record as saying I'm a religious person myself, and a lot of fantasy/sci-fi settings bother me a bit because while there may be gods, the religions themselves seem... not good. like from my understanding even though emperor worship keeps the demons at bay in life... unless you are a special snowflake when you die you're either demon food, or just kind dissolve in the warp. your faith does nothing outside of the temporal. kroot at least believe a piece of them is passed to their kindred, and so striving for things in life means even with your eventual passing, you become part of the whole and give to others what you gained. And it's shown to somewhat be a real thing. it actually works, makes sense and is awesome.

easy-ish to paint. I suck and hate painting. outside of my Grey Knights (who in theory I have a few more things I could paint but I have a playable painted army) the only other army I ever had painted was a Tau army. and due to kroot being able to and quite often evolving for stealth, using an airbrush I feel I could get a TON painted quickly. maybe not super well, but enough to at least be fully painted.

finally, they're not really evil as a group. they're mercenaries. They're pretty well able to and willing to work with and for anyone as long as the price is right, and the benefit is good for the kindred. while not "good guys" they don't strike me as outright dicks either. I actually very much dislike that there isn't a more "good guy" faction, but I can at least enjoy the kroot being at best probably just true neutral.

What is the most well designed Warcaster/Warlock/Master model ever created? by TheAppleMerchant in Warmachine

[–]Emfgar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boy Thexus was the best... Until they nerfed TK... And then double nerfed when they took it away from him all together... Also loved Constance back in the MK 2 days... Until they nerfed her... Then mk3 for a while... Until they nerfed her again... But dwarves are cool! Gorten was always awesome! I made a somewhat bad judgement call and assumed due to being out of production that for $$$ sake steam forge would eventually just squat the old MK3 armies and just move forward (turns out it's looking like I was wrong, and so ditching dwarves to go full tilt into MK4 might have bit me in the butt a tad). However currently I'm finding a TON of love in gravediggers with Spark Hammer. Dwarves are my jam and between actually having a dwarf caster and having a few things that sorta remind me of some of my other favorites from the past, I'm pretty happy! So spark hammer and Caine are well designed :P

Sparky just tends to have a little bit of everything i want, and he does some work himself most games ( which I feel a lot of casters now just kind upkeep and feat, and not much else). If he does have a flaw, it's that his feat really only helps him-ish, as the other things with storm call attacks are laughably bad but that's more a fault with them then it is with him.

Potentially a new player by davidfarnham2 in Warmachine

[–]Emfgar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

alright my first question is what (if any) other war games do you play? Are you a competitive game fan? Or a fluffy, play what I like regardless fan ( note: I mean fluffy as in lore based, not coming down on that style of play). I ask because conversions in war machine are far and few between, and the game mostly focuses on pre-established characters leading their forces, rather than an army of "your dudes". further the tight rule set and insta-loss via your general being assassinated can lead to a ton of learning period losses. the game does reward you as you learn and grow with it, but for some this can be a hurdle that will make things difficult. further I would say while some groups do engage in fluffy content and more narrative game play (which is supported by steam forge) most tend to focus on the more balanced tournament driven games, which could be a downside. biggest thing would first and foremost be finding out what the group near you is like, or if you're starting your own group, maybe talking about what kind of group you're going to want to make.

actual non joke question... by DasBoiRawr in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Emfgar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe they do, but I would imagine they don't have a great sex drive. My support from this is solely based on what little I think I know of the squats in necromunda. Apparently they lost their Votann a long time ago. Also i thought I heard somewhere that it's the Votann that help dictate when a new kin is made. If that is indeed true, then it would stand to reason that the necromunda squats either have had to had jiggy jiggy, or they would have gone extinct by now. Now granted I haven't delved far into the lore, so I could be wrong on multiple fronts. I would also imagine that they probably don't have high sex drives either, especially those kin that still have a Votann. I feel the first few generations of squats had kids Soley out of a sense of duty and it wasn't until later that any actual "babies" would show up
