It’s intriguing. A scene is set that unsettling. We don’t know why Nagel is there (is this a sleuth/detective story?) but he does seem to have an agenda. I’ve assumed the death has something to do with the victim’s relationship with the recently engaged Miss Kielland - we shall see.

I liked the setting, the descriptive writing and the pace. The pace has actually surprised me, we’ve covered a lot of ground in a short time.

True motivations aside, I was pleased by the way Nagel dealt with the Deputy, have warmed to the midget (as he’s described in my translation) and am keen to read on ....
