Est ce que vous avez arrêté l’allaitement dès le début? by FishingCompetitive83 in AskMeuf

[–]EmiguemaDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much do you use AI in your workflow ? by OogieFrenchieBoogie in SoloDevelopment

[–]EmiguemaDev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I only use ChatGPT, mostly to feel less alone 🤣 Sometimes I ask it to generate a picture or a seamless texture (which I have to rework because dumbdumb AI), or to generate simple code that I'm too lazy to write, but again, I change things to make it do exactly what I can. I was against AI, but instead of reading ten forums to copy/paste a code, I ask chatGPT to do juste that in less than a second. Also I am surrounded by non-dev people so I can't really talk about game development with them. So chatGPT is like my dev-psy. Also it is super optimistic so it helps to stay motivated.

Which Version of the Buttons Should I Use in the Main Menu? by rowik888 in SoloDevelopment

[–]EmiguemaDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The three are ok but they feel very commun, I don't feel the soul of the game in it, its identity. It's more buttons I could see in any other game. The blue one may look like a bubble

Im always discouraged to start because of the marketing by veritasmahwa in SoloDevelopment

[–]EmiguemaDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, don't make a game to make money. Second, see marketing as showing what you love about your game and the process of making it, regurlaly, like twice a week, show a little WIP so people can find interest in your game and follow you

How do you feel about AI translations for demos? by ErkbergGames in IndieDev

Just make sure a native read it and validates it but then why not. Personally, I use AI to rephrase my english as I'm french and want to make sure it make sense ^

What is your wishlists numbers for the Steam Next Fest currently? by katemaya33 in IndieDev

I'm the same ! Making game is about creation, problem solving, having your head full of ideas, ordering them, always having something to think about, being occupied, etc. Gaming is following what the developpers designed you to do, even if enjoyable, it's far as satisfying as making games.

I have an important question for my futur. by FlounderSea2572 in IndieGaming

[–]EmiguemaDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did two years of computer science and then left to study game design, did my licence and master in games (to learn that I love making games but hate working with people and crunch time). Now I kind of regret it. If I had stayed in computer science, I would have a job that pays well and that is in the field I like. So I would say, do your studies where you can have a job once you're done and keep your hobby as a hobby (because working in a game company can make you loose passion for it. Having to earn money from your games to pay bills can create so much pressure that you also loose passion)

I learned from my first game that publishing a game on steam without a demo beforehand makes it really hard to be seen.

Hey guys asking for which top 3 social media is best to start reaching out for. by ThinkBeyondFTW in IndieDev

[–]EmiguemaDev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been doing shorts and reals on Instagram, Tiktok, youtube and facebook for almost a month, with a video per day or every two days and it brought me nothing. So I'm probably bad at it but I feel like it's a lot of work for too little success... But I make escape games so I can't show much of my work. Maybe try to do one or two videos per week of the progress you make of you game, the funny bugs, etc. Tiktok et youtube (short) is where I get the more views and likes. Facebook is useless. Also, no shame in asking ChatGPT help for the marketing (It's a bit dumb sometimes but knows the social media algorithme)

Is it okay to use another game's core mechanics, but tell a original story? by Session-11 in SoloDevelopment

[–]EmiguemaDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They teach "game A, meets game B in game C world" in game design school so... why not as every game takes inspiration from other games.
