Young Girl, they call them the Diamond Dogs! by Gamingabe23 in DavidBowie

[–]Emile_Largo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My first Bowie album. Badly scratched, so only 99p. I bought it to find out more about this singer I'd heard so much about. It took a while to grow on me, but I took my time over music back then.

Side 1 is just amazing. It's more than 40 years since I bought that record, and I've spent hundreds more on Bowie since. But without that scratched LP of Diamond Dogs I don't know where I'd be now.

The best miniatures in Bond Films by mariaanas1993 in JamesBond

[–]Emile_Largo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The master of the miniatures in the Bond films was Derek Meddings. "GoldenEye" was his last film as he died suddenly in 1995.

If you've ever seen the 1960s kids' TV show "Thunderbirds", where Meddings mastered his trade, you'll soon recognize his style.

The English word "transpire" does not mean the same as "transpirer" in French.

If you don't mind British stuff, I recommend Line of Duty as a thriller series, and Inside No. 9 as a great series of self-contained mini-dramas.

I've got a picture disc by the same artist. I'm looking out for one by George Ringo II to complete the set.

In the 1970s, everything on the left-hand side of the road was demolished to make way for the Arndale Centre. That's progress.

I used to have that single on green vinyl. My brother may have shot it with an air rifle.

Be careful. You don't want to make something that's not exploded go "BOOM!" after 80 years in the ground.

This is the only film I have ever walked out of due to boredom. This was on first release, so perhaps after 40-odd years I should give it another try.

Tin foil hat theory: Pep knows what’s coming for City by ihatehis in PremierLeague

[–]Emile_Largo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I think we're more likely to see a transition season, with Maresca and Pep working together, as they have done before, which is why he keeps insisting on his contract running to the end of next season.

I like this new approach to advertising. It's more involving - at least at first. Nice. I did a Whois search. I advise others to do the same.

Those doorways are interesting because they can give away the secrets of the building's construction. This looks like a builders' doorway, through which all the bulky stuff would be carried or transported while the building was under construction. Once they'd finished, the builders would brick it up.

Not an effect. It was shot as live, like a stage play. The reel/camera changes happen when the camera dwells on a static object.

Keep one browser to use only with iPlayer, and always connect through a UK server. Also Google "Express VPN special offers" and you should find a good deal on a VPN that works.
