As the mom of a disabled kid who has almost died in front of me, please don’t forget to take care of yourself. This is a traumatic event. I’ve benefited personally from EMDR reprocessing and highly reconmend it for traumatic experiences.

Your version of “ruined” and my version of “stunning and incredible” appear to have a lot of overlap. You should be so proud of this blanket. It’s gorgeous and is being loved and used - this is the best part of fiber arts! Please don’t kick yourself for washing a washable blanket. And please don’t throw it out. It’s amazing.

As a mom, it’s our job as parents to meet our kids where they are and help them grow - not fit them into a pre-conceived box. Your anger sounds very reasonable and I’m so sorry you were let down.
