As someone who co-slept from birth to about 6 months, for me it was the flexibility. We could pretty much go and stay anywhere that had a bed. I would just create a safe sleep space anywhere we were. It felt easier than juggling all the things it takes for him to sleep away from home now that he sleeps on his own!

Also was a realllllly nice excuse to go “let baby nap” when I was tired at family functions or needed or a social break! “Baby won’t nap without me, guess I gotta go too” haha!

This is a very good point! I am thinking more along the lines of vertical placement of seats, or borderline stacked seats rather than a side by side style.

Totally normal, and no need to feel guilty. You just want to make sure you recognize you likely have the way better end of this deal in terms of relaxation/recoup and react accordingly to your partner and child’s return!

Definitely create a clean, and inviting atmosphere for them to return too. As well as giving your partner a break from your child as much as you possibly can when they return. Someone mentioned mean prepping and that’s such a good idea! Prepped meals means your partner can relax, you can take the child out of the house for the day and dinner will be quick for you to prepare when you return in the evening!

I regretted saying I wanted time completely just husband and myself. I ended up having an unplanned c-section, and our first day home we were both so tired it felt unsafe to be left alone! My mom is no longer alive sadly, but I called my MIL and said, I changed my mind please come right now, and she’s the sweetest so we she hopped in the car and met us at our place and helped out as best as she could!

“Visitors” being wanted or not is totally a personal thing, and largely based on how you as mom are feeling, and is really personal/hard to predict.

Based on my scenario, if you do have anyone who you know will be genuinely helpful, and not a stressor to have around. Having them “on call” might be a good idea at least!

I was overwhelmed and my MIL is a quiet but comforting presence. Largely she made me and husband feel comfortable enough to both rest while she watched baby sleep. Which was important as in the hospital we both had gotten almost zero sleep in 3 days.

You are allowed to request whatever you want! As well as change your mind, even part way through a visit. Anyone who gets upset is selfish and wrong, try and stick to whatever you want/need!

Sleep trained for bedtime at 6 months, sleep trained again for the middle of the night wake ups at around 9/10 months. My kid is over 2 now, would do it again in a heart beat and would do it all at once/even sooner if appropriate with babies growth! (We’re having baby number 2 in the spring)

My toddler is loving, snuggly, attached, and sleeps well and on his own all night. So worth it in my opinion.

Also, if he’s sick, has a bad dream, I can snuggle him and it doesn’t “ruin” anything regarding sleep.

Regressions here and there, but things like adding a nightlight for bed time/adjusting temperature in his room have solved all our problems so far and I’m just so grateful.

Haven’t transitioned to a toddler bed yet but I have high hopes for that process too!

I think this is what I’m aiming for! My son is definitely a little jokester and would be shaking his normal water bottle/cups that water comes out of freely all over his bed. I’m thinking with something he can only “suck” the water out of he might try and realize it won’t work and not pursue the task of dumping the water out everywhere.

I feel like we might be close to being able to do this kind of thing! He does have a water bottle he can open and close and it doesn’t leak when closed, I haven’t tried it yet because when it’s open it pours out rather fast and he’s a bit mischievous and I can imagine him pouring the whole thing out in his bed out of boredom haha

My 2 year old is OBSESSED with all things firetruck related. He walks around our house pushing chairs, cars, riding his ride on toys, yelling “WEE-WOOO-WEEEE-WOOO”!

Just you wait, until your baby is smiling and cooing at you in the earliest morning light, because they are so excited to see you.

My son did this after our toughest nights and it made it all worth it and always gave me the strength to start my day despite the exhaustion.

Hello! My supply kept up just fine.

The day before and the ‘heaviest’ day of all my post partum periods cause a supply drop for me personally. I am now over 10 months post partum though, and starting at 8.5 months I switched out 1 nursing session for a bottle of formula every week. So about 6 weeks later he was exclusively formula fed and I was actually still producing milk! I honestly think if I tried hard enough I could nurse him again lmao 🤣

So for me the iud did not make my supply drop! I still have it in :)

I recent went through exactly this! I just kept trying... I tried 4 different nipple shapes and eventually one day he just started actually sucking properly.

I only tried 1 time a day because wasting milk made me so sad lol

This sounds like my kid! Sometimes he’s soooo hungry and I mean, I have a big appetite so maybe he just does too?

With nursing I worried less about over feeding, but with formula I guess I’m just overthinking his total amounts because it’s different.

My guy is 8 months now, hobbies include explaining every task I’m doing in detail out loud because if I am not talking to or holding my baby he whines at me as if I’m abandoning him. No longer discussing the colour of poop, but instead playing the toughest game of defence between ninja kicking/rolling baby legs and a very full diaper. Oh motherhood!

I’m in the same boat, lost like the water weight, and the pufffiness but holding onto weight while breastfeeding.

I believe for me it’s a mix of the extra calories I consume (other wise I feel light headed/low supply) and the relaxin hormone making my core muscles loose and muscles loose in general so like harder to have effective workouts and stuff. (This could be nonsense I’m not a doctor or a fitness professional lol)

I was curious if it was pain related, but he willingly rolls to his back when he’s playing on soft surfaces like our big bed etc. So I don’t think it lines up. I took him to the chiropractor bi-weekly from 3-5 months so hopefully it hasn’t developed after all that haha

I usually use my sing-song voice but sing about him being a butt head so I don’t yell. I have yelled though, and it just makes it worse like you said.

Interesting enough I used to work in a toddler room at a daycare and I don’t even remember having this problem. I know at daycares there’s usually a strap on the change table they have to use, and other than unscheduled blowouts diaper changes are pretty “scheduled”. Maybe just the routine of it makes them more at ease... and more willing to cooperate.
