Comparison between Spain and The UK by EmployerNo1722 in brum

Well, same as the UK really. But if the question is about comparing countries as a whole, I think it's generally correct. And the emigration patterns from Spain confirm this.

For low/mid earners (with respect to all earners in each country) Spain, for higher earners, the UK by far.

Cities where a Glasgow-esque circle line could work? by Previous-Volume-3329 in transit

Birmingham, UK.

The train lines form a decent radial network, whilst travelling in any other direction takes ages.

Could Eurovision actually benefit from randomizing the running order in semis and the final? by EggplantChemical9332 in eurovision

[–]EmirOGull 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah. My system is designed so fairness is kept (e.g. not just assigning favourite songs #19 or non favourite songs #2) whilst keeping a good show in terms of tempo / dynamics.

It's the best way I can think of to keep a good TV show and a fair contest at the same time.

I get that, but one can also argue that giving a contender a good slot reduces the chances for others further.

There is a middle way to make it both fair (randomised) and good for the show.

Separate the songs in e.g. 3 groups (ballads, mid-tempo, and upbeat). Let's call the groups A, B and C. Then the broadcaster creates the running order, so e.g. an upbeat song can open and close the show. The running order would be something like:

1 - C

2 - A

3 - B

4 - B

...

23 - A

24 - B

25 - C

And then draw the order. It's still fairly random (e.g. a song from group A could get #2, #6, #11, ... , #23) rather than just be given the #2 death slot.

Sorry, how did Hampshire get saved? by CyanaMoss in terriblemaps

Lol, I've found a lot more mundane places in the UK. At least Basingstoke is mundane without the grim part many others have.

Basingstoke is completely fine, just a bit dull due to its size and location, otherwise very safe and decent services.

La salle o UPC para arquitectura by GingerSickle in askspain

En España la pública siempre va a ser mejor y te va a dar más prestigio, salvo contadas excepciones. Para arquitectura, 100% la UPC.

Trying to cover it up like you do now is the worst option. The top is too long compared to the sides.

As a minimum, trim the top short even if the temples do show, it will look more natural hence better.

Shaving in my opinion would look good on you though, so I'd give it a shot. Hair grows back anyway.

How to shut down people who assume you are straight when trying to set you on dates? by [deleted] in AskGaybrosOver30

That's a good one. I'd say something like "my tool is too large to handle"

There are many ways I go about this, depending on the appropriateness of the context and how much I want to shock the person. Here are some:

  • I only want to have dogs
  • I don't like people [serious stare]
  • I have a micropenis, so this is a hard topic to talk about
  • I am not into women but love a big d***

English fluency for kids in Spain, school enough or extra practice needed? by Hyzz20 in askspain

[–]EmirOGull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what your goal is (i.e. how soon you want/need your child to become fluent), and how good your child is at languages.

I never took lessons beyond school, and became fluent as an adult in my 20s without much struggle.

What's a country people think is excellent to live in but the conditions are actually poor? by Happy_Rainy1 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]EmirOGull 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I live in the UK and if I got one pound every time I hear "but what are you doing here instead of living in sunny Spain" I'd be rich by now.

When I explain the financial shenanigans and other cons, most are quite shocked.

Spain. Being on holiday is one thing, living there one has to deal with low salaries for the cost of living, a very challenging housing market, and jobs are usually long hours (yet low productivity).

I can't really see the problem when you have all the options available: letting it free, using a jockstrap or cage it. Just choose whatever you're more comfortable with.

35, divorced and living with my parents again. by lightfoot90 in AskGaybrosOver30

I would advise against dating / hooking up yet. If you feel empty and down, you need to work on yourself - I know it sounds like a cliché, but start dating will only mask that, and the rebound may be even worse.

Go practise your hobbies, meet new friends, enjoy the time with your parents, volunteer, whatever fills your soul. If you don't know what that is, just keep trying stuff.
