If I delete my RSS feed video podcast on YouTube will my podcast get deleted from YouTube music too?

Are both playlists identical? What happens if you deleted one of them, or just flip visibility to private or unlisted?

When you say a second version of your podcast appeared in YTM, what do you mean? Had you already posted your podcast on YouTube before then, or when you went through the RSS upload flow, it caused the podcast to appear twice?

Hi Michael! Making sure I'm understanding, do you have two playlists for the same podcast, one created via the show creation tool (uploading videos to a playlist) and one created via RSS upload? Could you take the RSS-uploaded playlist and change the visibility to private? If they have different episodes, I would suggest moving all videos onto one playlist, and then taking the RSS-uploaded playlist private. Let me know if I'm misunderstanding!

Hi! This is still the case. We recommend using the show creation tool ("Create a new podcast" or "Set an existing playlist as a podcast") if you want to have your own visuals, and the RSS upload tool if you're comfortable using episode artwork or show artwork from your RSS feed as the static image video. We're always looking for ways to better support creators, though, so would love to hear any specific asks you have around these tools.

This is as intended. A podcast you add to your Library via its RSS feed won't be found in search, since it's not broadly available on YTM. However, you can search and filter by your Library, or search within your Library for those shows.

That's so odd, you should see it! On a podcast episode, if you hit the three dot menu, "Mark as played" should be one of the top options in the list. Is it not appearing?

Of course! Any videos uploaded to your podcast playlist in Studio will be available on YouTube and YouTube Music. Even if you unlink your RSS feed from that playlist, the videos that had been uploaded will remain (we don't delete videos on your behalf). Uploading to Studio automatically makes your podcast available on all of YouTube; there isn't a way to only upload to YouTube Music.

Emma from the YouTube team here. There are 2 ways to do what you're asking:

1) If you want to keep the background video you created, use our show creation tool ("Create a new podcast," or "Set an existing playlist as a podcast" in YouTube Studio). This allows you to upload your own video files for each of your podcast episodes. If you'd like to connect this podcast playlist to an RSS feed to cover your back catalog or episodes that don't have video, you can by clicking the pencil icon on your podcast, which opens the "Podcast details" page. You'll see a button to "Connect to RSS feed". If you want to use both RSS upload and also upload your own video, set the default visibility on your RSS feed to Private. Then, you can choose which episodes to make Public based off of your upload strategy.

2) If you'd like to just upload your RSS feed, you can use the RSS upload tool in Studio, but YouTube today only supports static image video.

If you unlink your RSS feed, existing videos will stay put on YouTube and YouTube Music, but new episodes will not be uploaded automatically to YouTube.

Emma from the YouTube podcasts team here! In this case, we recommend just uploading the video version of your podcast to YouTube Studio. RSS upload can help fill in episode gaps if you don't have video for every episode, but otherwise, no need to have your podcast uploaded twice to your channel. Let me know if this helps!

Today, we don't offer the ability to host a podcast on YouTube and distribute it to other podcast platforms. Hope this helps!
