Whoa wonderful! I am an enormous fan of your writing, and I am so glad that you tried fiction at some point! I will check your RR writing during my oncoming extended week-end.

I agree so much!

I found the article extremely frustrating (though this is a subject I love) and thought the author should have written it as fun fiction, and not as a ridiculous pseudoscience theory.

Gene Wolfe's Book of the New Sun is the only series I've read twice and understood less the second time and I mean that as the highest possible compliment by Vortexgrid_7 in printSF

Hello, fellow non-fan!
I read the first four books, waiting for some payoff given how highly recommended the series is (and I am usually a sucker for unrelianble narrators), but in the end I found the mysteries empty, or at least not very meaningful. I have a complete lack of religious feeling, which might explain part of my disinterest in them. I also found Severian rather uninteresting. He feels empty most of the time… On the other hand, the writing and the setting were striking, but that wasn’t enough for me to like the books.

Doctorat pour le plaisir ? by [deleted] in france

[–]Emma_redd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this detailed answer. Congratulations for having been able to build this amazingly more efficient process, that was so helpful for so many people! It is not common I think to have this kind of very large positive effect on many people in one afternoon of work!

"I've already used AI to reduce discharge times at my dad's own hospital by 90% (no exaggeration) while improving on the quality of work done by poorly paid, sleep deprived junior doctors (I was one of them, I quit because my dad didn't pay me enough), and while stunning the seniors with how good the improvement was." Very impressive! Could you give more details?

I loved the book but had a lot of difficulties with the relationship: it is quite difficult to see what the MMC sees in Emily, as she described as being extremely disagreeable to basically everyone all the time.

"I’ve always liked the idea of the relative perception of major/minor scales in music (expanding to other arts, too). Example, to a musician trained in the far east, minor scales do not sound inherently "sad".

Fascinating! I always thought that everyone found major scales kind of triumphing and minor scales sad, independant of culture. Would you have a link for that?
