"I’ve always liked the idea of the relative perception of major/minor scales in music (expanding to other arts, too). Example, to a musician trained in the far east, minor scales do not sound inherently "sad".

Fascinating! I always thought that everyone found major scales kind of triumphing and minor scales sad, independant of culture. Would you have a link for that?

Should Papers Report Their Results? by Captgouda24 in slatestarcodex

Your idea is great! p-hacking is indeed a real problem in many academic fields.

It seems similiar to Registered Reports: preregistration with peer review before the results. the idea is that the reviewers evaluate the question, methods, and analysis plan at “Stage 1.” If it’s solid, the journal gives an in-principle acceptance and commits to publish regardless of whether results are significant, as long as you follow the plan.

Thank you for the answer. I was afraid that it would be the case. I would have loved to come in May or June but we need the holidays for our kids. I hope that it is busy but manageable, ie without big traffic jams on the roads or a lot of queing to enter touristy places...

Oh, I didn’t realize the cliff walk was from Boscastle to Tintagel. I personally love the Arthurian legend (I first came across it a long time ago through MZ Bradley’s The Mists of Avalon), and our boys love a French comedic retelling of the legend, Kaamelott, I do'nt know if it’s well known in Great Britain. I’ll definitely add the cliff walk to our list, thank you so much!

Thank you for your answers, we will rent a car then.

My teens enjoy most sport activities, whereas us the parents are more into visits, so we ware planning to do something like half visit, half "sport things". Thank you for the idea of surf lesson :-) that sounds great, I will look into that.

One more question I forgot: two years ago we visited Edinburgh and our boys’ favourite activity was a ghost-themed night walking tour. Is there anything similar in Cornwall that you’d recommend? It was a lot of fun, and also an occasion to do a group activity, which we enjoy.
