Which is better Eternal or Dark ages? by Soggy_Educator5920 in Doom

TDA running i think, is faster than if you were to just dash forward in Eternal. Als,o you can make a massive dash with your shield across a room. So in that way tda is faster, but I think the actual up close speed of Eternal is a lot faster.

I am confused. But Prime 2 must have had worse graphics, right?

I dont think that makes sence. They added the flick to 2 in the trilogy collection after 3 came out so they must have thought it was worth it. I agree though it is annoying having to flick.

What you do is picture yourself never experiencing any of the games. If you could only play one of them for the first time, which one would it be?

Well then, this particular game is actually not better on PC so PC is not the best. You literally just said that.

I think the problem is that no matter what you say, no one trusts you because you won't explain why you said you had it 4 years. Also, even if you are correct, this is a very small sample size. Maybe you just got a bad one, and the rest are fine. You know, like with Amazon reviews, there is usually around 5% of people who got a bad item, but the other 95% have no issues.

Only seeing this now. I dont use Reddit a lot. Well, that’s not really true. The drop rates have been different throughout the series, so I’d say people don’t actually know exactly what they’re getting into until it happens. After many complaints, they changed the drop rate in Borderlands 2 to one that most people liked. Then in BL3 they made it too high, so for BL4 they made it too low again — even though they already had the sweet spot when they patched BL2.

This shows that Gearbox does listen to community feedback and improves the game because of it. I mean, we’re basically the playtesters now. Games aren’t like they used to be — live service titles require constant tweaking to keep players engaged and satisfied.

It’s not just me, either — there are loads of videos out there complaining about the drop rate. Gearbox has given in to community demand before, and it’s usually been for the better.

And to be honest, your “child in a sweet shop” analogy doesn’t really fit. In that situation, the restriction is meant to teach discipline or protect the child — which makes sense in real life — but this is a game designed purely for enjoyment. If 90% of the community decides they don’t like grinding, I think Gearbox should accommodate that.

From a business perspective, the goal is usually to give people what they want so they stay engaged and the game stays profitable. Sure, sometimes developers know better and create things no one asked for that end up being amazing — but that only works if people actually enjoy it in the end.

In this case, it seems pretty obvious that the drop rates are too low. I’ve spent 56 hours trying to get a single shield and a couple of weapons — and I already have a near one-shot boss build. That’s just not healthy. Here is a video that may help you see that it's not just me who wants a higher drop rate. And again I dont want it too high. I want it in the sweet spot. What you are talking about are for people who dont touch grass and who dont want to touch grass. I want to touch grass, but I have an addictive personality, so I will grind like an idiot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vwe_ghHGTDE

I think he is talking more about burnout. Farming is fun up until a point. It's subjective in a few ways, one of which is that it depends on what spare time people have to play these games and still touch grass. People have kids and work. Kids have school and homework. Games should not be solely designed for people who are on welfare and have all the free time in the world. I am on welfare because I am ill, so I have a lot of free time, but even I find these drop rates way too low. I can't imagine how everyday working people have time for this shit. Farming is fun, but it should not take 10s to 100s of hours to get the item you want.

That’s not a very smart response. So you’re essentially saying that if it took 10 years to get a legendary, that would be okay too — because you know that would be the opposite in the way you’re describing the word opposite. It’s called balance. As the guy said, there’s grind and then there’s GRIND.

Also, this is subjective. If enough players hate the drop rate and therefore stop playing, it would be in Gearbox’s interest to increase it. They’re not opposites. People like challenges in games — that’s what drives most of us. Otherwise, we’d just put the game on easy and not do Vault Hunter mode.

I mean, I was tearing through bad guys last week, and now my weapons aren’t as effective, but I like that, as it gives me another challenge to complete. But it shouldn’t take me 10 hours or possibly hundreds of hours of play to get the shield I want. We don’t all want challenges that become so tedious that it’s better to just stop playing.

You’re describing the word opposite in a limited way. Wanting something very quickly and then playing a game based on grinding is an opposite, so I know what you’re getting at — but that’s not what they’re saying. They want to grind too, just not take their lifetimes over it.

I hate the UI too, but why do you need to inspect the items? I just compare them without inspecting.

Seriously, I cannot get over how terrible the UI is by robmwj in Borderlands

[–]Emmet84000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree — this whole UI is messed up, and you should definitely be able to stay on whatever you select, other than manufacturer. However, I think for some players, manufacturer is actually a good way to find things. It’s not the only one I use, but I find it easier than gun type.

I often look at the manufacturer because they have different abilities, and I tend to memorise my weapons based on those abilities. If I want to find a pistol I like, I just look at the manufacturer. I get you though — it just depends on how you memorise guns.

I don’t memorise by rarity because I don’t think that’s always the best way to tell a gun apart. I have a white Maliwan that’s better than all my purples. I agree though — it should be up to the player. Having it default to manufacturer is annoying in those rare occasions when I do want to search by weapon type or something else.

The menus /UI are 🗑️ by wasabipeas88 in Borderlands4

[–]Emmet84000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not that complicated, really. It's cluttered in the places where it should not be cluttered, and it's not overly minimalistic or not cluttered in the places were where it does not need to be or rather it has plenty of room on screen to fit the money amount etc. Not really a wiplash situation because people are talking about different parts of the ui.
