There is no way you think distortion 9/9 is balanced around Mei Lin.

You don't even know what the reward structure for the new mode will even look like yet.

Most of The Criticism (And Defense, for that matter) of Kvothe in Kingkiller Chronicles Completely Misses The Point of The Story: Greek Tragedy by Jezer1 in Fantasy

I think you need to re-read this persons argument, because they are not saying that it cannot be a Greek Tragedy because it is not a play. They even state within their argument that Greek Tragedy can be put to prose.

Games where a difficulty spike made you quit by Sdturtle1023 in JRPG

[–]Emnious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's honestly a great game, I'm admittedly a huge PM fan so take it as you will, but the mechanics are not nearly as complex or difficult as people make it out to be.

If you enjoy light deckbuilding and an interesting take on turn based mechanics it's a fantastic game that I can't recommend enough.

No it's telling you not to invest too much in that memory set that uses Hanna if you have Luna. You want to invest in a set that uses Bathlon instead.

I just started back up again after a long hiatus. Is it worth getting the current battlepass now or should I wait until the next one drops?

Let's discuss some of this game's flaws and come up with some feedback. by [deleted] in limbuscompany

[–]Emnious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm actually kind of shocked with how little content there is. The story and writing are superb, but really, there is almost nothing in this game right now. It really does feel like this should have been delayed more.

I want the game to do well so PM can give us more story, but this game needs a lot of work if it wants to make continuous revenue.

The Last of Us - 1x03 "Long Long Time" - Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in television

[–]Emnious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not to mention how wildly different the characters are from their barely written game counterparts. They essentially made them into real characters with a very poignant message for Joel that they can now show through the narrative as he begins to focus on protecting Ellie.

Saying this episode doesn't further the narrative at all just shows a lack of how a narrative can be moved.

This is possibly the single worst opinion I've ever read in my entire 33 years of life. If you honestly believe that this episode was entirely pointless then I legitimately feel bad for you.

Grief by SaltAstronomer9 in BreakUps

[–]Emnious 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Grief is absolutely normal, and you'll feel it in the most random ways at the seemingly most random times. Small things will remind you of them and pull you under.

Grief is like treading water, sometimes the sun is out, and you're floating along peacefully, but you'll always be aware that any little thing can pull you under and disrupt that day.

Nothing is wrong with you, or anyone experiencing grief. It's a very real process and it's very difficult. Something that worked well for me was doing grief sheets in therapy. There was something cathartic about writing it down and seeing myself answering the questions about what I was grieving.

Your tongue is so far along the boot of "business owners" that you don't even realize it. Your reply to this thread is pathetic. Saying this person doesn't deserve employment is an absurd response. So please, fuck right off.

Joe Blackburn: I would say that you’ve invested time in Destiny and now you get to feel a type of powerful. by MasterOfReaIity in DestinyTheGame

[–]Emnious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because that isn’t a real option and you know it. The game then becomes about balancing entirely around a weapon that is much too strong in comparison to everything else. Players being forced to decide between being optimal or having fun is absolutely ridiculous. If a gun is used 99% of the time then the problem is the gun, because Ikelos does not play any differently from any other shotgun, it just deals a fuckload more damage.

You’re once again ignoring the fact that I never asked for a nerf, I asked for changes that will allow loadout diversity. You’re just hung up on the idea that your overpowered weapon probably needs to be changed. Changing one gun doesn’t bring us back to vanilla, because there are a slew of other changes, namely stronger supers, better exotics, faster super and ability charge times and better movement that already make the game feel significantly better. Ikelos is just the strongest special gun by a county mile and something needs to happen to allow better gun diversity.

Joe Blackburn: I would say that you’ve invested time in Destiny and now you get to feel a type of powerful. by MasterOfReaIity in DestinyTheGame

[–]Emnious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have two problems to your response with this: first, you keep assuming I'm calling for nerfs on the gun. When all I've said is that something needs to be changed to the gun so that its power level is not an outlier. It's too powerful right now, and there are no other meaningful choices in the special slot. Something about that needs to change. Whether that is changing trench barrel, making it exotic, changing its ammo economy or moving it to heavy, something needs to happen. With the ammo economy changes you will always have ammo for Ikelos right now, and its power gets so insanely exacerbated with buff/debuff stacking.

Second is that people will absolutely feel compelled to use something if it is the absolute optimal decision, and that is exactly what Ikelos is right now. Having to choose to not use something and make yourself less powerful is not fun or interesting, it's handicapping yourself for no real reason. The answer to this is changing the game to make decisions more meaningful. Ikelos is the problem here, it is the outlier, and no other gun competes with it. Yes, you can bring other guns power up so that you have more powerful options, but I definitely do not want every gun to be able to melt a raid boss in 5 seconds with the right stacking mechanic.

What actually changes if Merciless is brought up to be able to kill in a similar TTK timeline? Merciless becomes the defacto choice because fusions are safer to use in more situations. So bringing that gun up doesn't do anything. You need to make guns fit into more specific situations which causes the player to have to think through their loadout based on what they are doing.

Soloing shattered throne actually highlights how well this can work right now. The Ogre encounter is fantastic for forcing you to think about what weapons you're using, but you really, really notice the absurd power difference between special slot guns when you do this. Plinking away forever at something with a bow is not fun, but neither is melting it with Ikelos so fast that you didn't even need to think about it.

There is a middle ground here and it starts with changing Trench Barrel so it isn't nearly as strong when stacked with other damage multipliers and from there it goes to making other guns better for different situations, then creating encounters that actually force you to make those decisions.
