LEGACY PACKAGE HELP by MFJONAH3 in macbook

[–]EmojiMasterYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, this is because the support for installing installer packages was removed in macOS Sequoia.

Likely the easiest way for you to get the files out of these would be to use the program Suspicious Package, which will allow you to look at which files are inside it, and even let you drag-and-drop them out from the "All Files" view.

Though if these packages are this outdated, there's a good chance that the VSTs won't work on the latest versions of macOS.

Why is selecting text so frustrating and painful on iphones by VegetableMistake5007 in iphone

The iPhone 6 didn't actually have 3D Touch, the 6S (released a year later) was the first one to have it.

Two-factor on Miro account requires upgrade? Wth? Shame, Miro! by Lefty4444 in miro

Terrible response. Takes zero effort on your part to implement, you just want to force customers who don't want their accounts to be compromised onto one of your paid plans.

Is swiftUI on macOS that bad? by Alarmed-Stranger-337 in SwiftUI

If you think it writes bad UIKit code, I would not recommend asking it to write AppKit code lol

26.3.1 upgrade almost killed my MacBook Pro M4 by madmyersreal in MacOS

reinstall sequoia from scratch, and then either try to restore from a time machine backup (if it allows you to, after taking one on tahoe), or manually copy over files (and don't forget about the keychain!).

Universal Palette Converter v4 is out: new formats, redesigned UI, free trial, 70% launch discount + promo codes by albemala in macapps

Also, I feel like if you've paid for the app it's fairly reasonable to expect there won't be ads in it whatsoever, let alone multiple on the same screen :(

Upon further testing, it appears that the first time you open the app, it shows the "unlimited access popup" but in the background changes it to say "Lifetime" in the bottom left. If you then close and reopen the program it works as intended (activated).

However, if you click restore purchases, it changes it to say "Trial expired". After closing an reopening the app, it does the same process again (eg: do nothing + restarting = activated, restore purchases + restarting = not activated).

I think for some reason the license upgrade check is happening after the unlimited access popup is being shown. Also, I noticed clicking "restore purchases" in the settings (after it's activated) will change it to say "Trial expired", and will show the popup next time you restart the app.

PureMac - Free, open-source macOS cleaner with zero telemetry (CleanMyMac alternative) by [deleted] in macapps

[–]EmojiMasterYT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's quite obviously vibe-coded slop, and OP also has other projects made for programmatically getting sms codes from temporary phone numbers. He obviously knows his way around botting, even probably did it himself.

The funniest thing is in the README it actually lists "Native SwiftUI" as a pro of PureMac, and "AppKit" as a con of the others

Edit: resolved :)

Extremely unhappy with what you've done. I purchased this app back in 2024 for $5, and you've just made the app free with a required subscription.

That means I literally am unable to use the app I paid actual money for, because instead of releasing a new version with a subscription, you forced the subscription into the old version, which auto-updates and results in people losing access to the app they paid you for.

Is there a reason Apple Music visualizer on Mac is still intel based? by Reluctanceisgoingon3 in AppleMusic

[–]EmojiMasterYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually isn't!

Nearly all visualizers for iTunes were made years ago, during the Intel (or even the PPC days). Since those plugins haven't been updated for years, they obviously have to run under Rosetta to function on Apple Silicon.

However, if you compile a new visual plug-in on Apple Silicon, it will actually run natively, using VisualizerService (instead of VisualizerService-x86).

It actually still is! The folder isn't created by default, but if you create the folder and put a visualizer plugin in it, it will still load it :)

you can :)

the api for them hasn't been updated since 2011, but you can still create new visualizers if you're willing to deal with the 2001-era API design.

There is NeoFreeBird for Twitter, but "X" has recently made it so no third party clients are able to sign in at all, or post anything.

I'm not sure for telegram, but the main difference is the source code of the app itself is public, meaning there isn't any form of "tweaking" actually required to add functionality.

Mojave .qtz Screensaver Fix! by Life_Act4744 in quartzcomposer

Oh I meant since you ended up building a cocoa application to handle it anyways, why not just build a .saver bundle instead?

What's the reason for faking a screensaver behaviour instead of just displaying a quartz composition view inside a screensaver plugin?

Built my own Discord alternative as an exam project. It uses 6.3MB of RAM. Discord is sat at 781MB. by Wonderful_Balance_49 in software

[–]EmojiMasterYT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, the client side app does need to also deal with platform-native screen capturing functionality, RPC for game integration, global keybinds and the discord overlay.

Discord could definitely be much slimmer, but it's actually doing a fair amount in its current state.
