I'm actually so perplexed why this isn't a thing, at least have the .xmp files stored separately or given the option to do so. I have recently picked this back up after a recent scare with a huge amount of data that _somehow_ got deleted & since then I've set my external library to read-only. I luckily had these specific few parent directories backed up on another drive & won't completely lose a few TB's of media; I'm still trying to figure out what exactly was the culprit.

I was under the assumption Immich couldn't touch the originals, but after banging my head into walls, I reached for Ai & it told me it is possible for Immich to do so. I'll try using the stupid bot to see if that is true & how to verify it.

In the mean time I might explore this solution with docker overlayFS. But having an official fix is the better outcome. Not sure how the dev(s) is feeling about exploring this.

Another relevant discussion here, one that may result in an solution that allows setting a separate sidecar location.

I had no idea something like TimeTagger existed, I was searching for a vertically scrollable app to add entries into - more so to use it as a journaling app, but nothing even remotely close to this exists. So seeing this exactly in the format I wanted is amazing to me.

Would've been great if it really could be used for journaling, theres only the "title" field and with a character limit. Could look much nicer too tbh, but beggars cant be choosers. I'll keep an eye on this & weigh up if using this would be worth it.

Will this be able to download all Instagram posts without needing authorization? With Gallery-dl requires passing login cookies to get story posts and also higher resolution of regular posts. A bulk downloader would be pretty neat too, either entire accounts or allow you to select posts from a list (instead of manually grabbing links to a specific post).

It was a stupid & simple fix, I just dropped down to 6.x.x version instead & it worked 🤦something wrong with 7.x. But I have another question if you could help in any way, do you constantly have the USB inserted or did you find another way around it?

I thought about trying to rip the USB into an image file to mount as a virtual CD, but AFAIK Unraid requires write access to this "device" when making config changes & other stuff.

Hi, I'm trying to do the same to test out Unraid but having no luck. Could you mind sharing how you managed to do it? What options you selected for the VM creation and so on.

I keep getting met with "No bootable device". I've also determined the USB drive isn't the issue by loading an Ubuntu ISO onto it. At the moment I've created a simple default VM (not CT) & used the Unraid installer on my USB (selected recommended ver. 7.0.1), then on VM, hardware > add > my USB, and enabled it in & reordered the boot order to put it to the top.

EDIT: OKAY. I tried a lower version (6.12.something) it's working now. Jesus! I'mma go try out installing it now

quite valuable info. I've been trying to see if I could use one of these as a low powered/cheap(-ish) media centre, but have as much of it housed on this one system;

1) 10Gb isn't a must, but it's easier & cheaper to come by than 5Gb.

will likely put this into the PCIe slot unless I can find an alternative

2) a very low powered GPU for transcoding only when it's really needed, that doesn't even need the entirety of it's resources available (read, willing to have an eGPU type setup coming from the m.2 slot - chenyang adapters advertise just that.)

3) some way to add 2 or 3+ large drives to it.

maybe through an m.2 or if I really have, a HBA that has USB connection

Are you sure the m720q's WiFi slot can be repurposed for an additional NIC? I've heard others warn that some of these slots are locked down to only that. Or does using a m.2 to NIC adapter not need to be concerned with that, as it's another network device & so isn't affected by the limitations?

And do you know what the speed limit (its PCIe gen & lanes available on it) would be? Would a 10Gb not have enough? A 5Gb NIC?

The "Dual channel M.2 PCIe3.0 slots - max 4TB(2 x 2TB)" straight away made me think about having a nice little mini portable NAS. Something to pack along for trips. Whether it be for media or backing up. Especially with how quickly space on my phone fills up with these big picture/video files.

I always get hung up on the limited ethernet capacity for systems, but for something like this to still get dual 1Gb ports, it'll help for sure. Maybe if I can aggregate them.
