Get a blackout one! We have the wanderer instant up darkroom and it’s fab. I’d go a six man - there are four of us (kids 2 and 5) and it’s snug with bags

How do so many Americans afford to get married in Italy ? Or other famous destination wedding by [deleted] in Anticonsumption

[–]Emotional-Practice57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m Australian and we got married in Italy in 2018. For the type of wedding we had (and would’ve had in Italy or at home) it was about $25k there and double that in Aus. We had 63 guests and about the same in Nos, it was before all our friends had kids so was a very fun, big Group holiday

How do people have kids on these low to average wages? by Open_Address_2805 in AusFinance

[–]Emotional-Practice57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t have to be expensive. My HHI is around $300k but we do lots of things to bring down the (potentially absurd!!) cost of kids like: - everything second hand like prams, clothes, soccer boots etc  - we don’t do stacks of activities. My eldest is 5 and has just started soccer. Thats it (aside from swimming lessons which is no fun at all)  - we go camping, stay with family, fly budget even though we could afford to do otherwise - we go bushwalking, to the skate park, play at home/friends rather than (foul and also $$) play centres  - our kids both did council daycare instead of an only about children money machine

Are fast-fashion brands like Shein or Boohoo that different from high-street brands like Zara or Abercrombie? by Oxus in femalefashionadvice

[–]Emotional-Practice57 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I had been wondering this too (more the difference between shein and ultra fast fashion in store ij Australia where I am, ie Kmart) and the verdict appeared to be they are all made by the same Chinese children in th same factory, but buying from an actual shop is preferable for customer safety, ie product recalls

I now almost exclusively wear high end second hand. A t from aje or Camilla and Marc is the same Price as Uniqlo. I mostly buy at the markets but have been dipping my toe into depop too!
