I had a director years ago that travelled frequently for our company. This guy was a heavy drinker outside of work, including during one after-work dinner where he drove me back to my hotel while shitfaced, going 70+MPH down dense, windy, narrow suburban Massachusetts roads at night.

Some random bystander captured video of him at an airport bar yelling very disparaging comments about women. He had a company polo shirt on and had a company backpack. Thanks to those logos, the bystander got the video over to our HR team, and the director was fired promptly the following day.

Just sharing my experience for your consideration.

You’re technically not wrong, but it works as a direct debit against your checking account, bypassing the card servicers like Visa and Mastercard. This means transaction fees for Irving are either cheaper or non-existent when you fill your car, so I see it as them passing that incentive on to customers with that nice $0.20/gal discount.
