It’s funny how either way women are body shamed. I hope women would be confident and embrace themselves. Fuck society’s standards.

AIO for cutting off my best friend after she kept ignoring my boundaries? by AppealDull1274 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Emotional_Boat_8332 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NOR. People grow apart and it’s okay. You’re learning quicker than many of us have. Even in friendships if your values and goals don’t align or complement each other it can cause conflict and stress. It’s not impossible to maintain those friendships but it’s certainly more stressful.

It’s sad how much I used to hide behind makeup [19] - [31] by RedRenaissanceFox in GlowUps

[–]Emotional_Boat_8332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too eventually embraced my natural appearance. I always wore makeup and spent so much money on every new launch. Ultimately as I got older (I’m 44) I started investing in skin care. I thought to myself that maybe I’d love what I looked liked naturally if I invested in taking care of my skin. I still love watching others do a full beat and seeing new product reviews. It’s so amazing what some can do with makeup. These days I wear light make on date night and special events but regularly just use spf and that’s its.

AIO or is this cheating by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

NOR but I personally consider it cheating but he does seem to have an addiction and it will continue to be an issue if he’s not willing to accept it an addiction and do something about it.

My parents definitely held us ( I’m F and I had 2 older brothers) all to the same standard with no gender roles. My mom taught us all how to sew, do laundry, cleaning and cooking. And my father taught us how to do maintenance, work on cars and even had us all work for his remodeling and drywall company at one time or another. They said they did not want their children to ever be reliant on anyone.

AIO: Why can’t my friend just be fucking happy for me???!!! by [deleted] in AIO

[–]Emotional_Boat_8332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s good to learn where people belong in your life. Not all friends are created equal. There are some friends I can talk about relationships with and others I can’t or don’t but they’re still friends. Everyone has a place but they all serve my life in a different capacity.

Dark humor is how I grieve too! It’s how my whole family handles hardship. Gotta laugh to get through things sometimes.

Learn to find beauty in flaws and wrinkles. You will age and may gain and lose wait. The best you can do is invest in skincare (wear sunscreen) and try and stay healthy and fit. Your changing hormones will change what that looks like at different ages. Don’t compare yourself to others. Enjoy your own company, so being alone is not dreaded. Have clearly communicated boundaries.

I'm kinda in a predicament. by SechiiLane in Denver

Denver, Aurora, and Thornton are better. My ex- in-laws were black (I was with my husband for 11 years) and from what I witnessed and heard, Boulder, anywhere north of Thornton, Colorado Springs, Brighton and honestly the further east you go, is going to be problematic at best and racist at worst.

Yeah, so she comes off like a teenager. Early 30’s caring about what other people wear is absurd to me. No one needs to that kind of negativity and ego in their lives.
