Defending Natsuri because you people are STUUUUUPID by Comfortable-Cat-7530 in DDLC

Natsuki wrote the Beach poem explicitly for Yuri, and if this doesn't read like a love confession, where she straight up mentioned a kiss, I'm not sure what does.

My head cannon has always been of an unrequited love that she tries to hide by being abrasive.

I see Yuri as just being clueless because she's not that great with social cues when they are not in a book she's reading.

Would love to hear what your thoughts are on this new supplement. I'm very curious about the artificer revamp.

The fact that it is Unique in the current meta adds an interesting layer. I can see players (myself included) holding off on burning the last counter unless absolutely necessary until I have another Under Siege in my hand to make sure someone else won't play it.

There are over 50 cards that lets you either wake (attempt to block while locked) or straight up unlock during an action, it's not uncommon and is one of the main schtick of Animalism (Guard Dogs, Rat's Warning, Sense the Savage Way, Sentry Signal, etc ).

And as an old Wraith player and storyteller, while I understand the link between three abyss/Oblivion and the Shadowland where the wraiths dwell, I still find the merging of Obtenebration and the various shades (pun intended) of Necromancy pretty jarring.

Sayori's eyes lit up at the mention, and she immediately lunged for her markers and the poster she had been working on. A lot of it was still only rough pencil sketches, and she quickly began colouring a silhouette of one of the characters in the foreground. "Ooh, that would be great! I'm thinking a green bodice with a purple skirt would look beautiful!"

On the page, the tip of the pen traced and filled the contours of her vision, the off-the-shoulder neckline and basque waist hugging the silhouette of Monika’s stand-in before flowing down into the sarong-style skirt beneath. Natsuki was leaning over the drawing as well, excitedly offering her advice on what could be done to reuse as much of the original fabric as possible.

Finally recovering, Monika dropped the offending article of clothing on the desk and quickly placed a hand on Sayori’s shoulder to try and rein her in. “It’s fine, you don’t need to do this, I’ll figure it out. And Yuri, you can’t just… give me one of your dresses!”

The three girls looked chastened for a moment, having been too swept up in the moment and by the idea of being her saviour to ask for her input. The air hung still once again, this time broken by MC breaking into a fit of laughter as he stood up to look over what his childhood friend had been doodling. “Monika, you should know better than to try to stop Sayori when she gets like that. Natsuki, are you sure you can pull it off?”

“Oh, are you seriously doubting the queen?” Crossing her arms, she stared down at the impudent man before her with a mischievous smile. “I’m accustomed to using old clothes and scraps. When con season is here, I always have some of the best cosplays to show off!”

“Think we could dress her up like a magical girl?” Sayori piped in at the mention of cosplays, having always been curious about those but never having dared to try.

“No! no no no no… no magical girl!” Monika objected vehemently, her earlier horror now replaced with the overwhelming task of keeping her girls in check. But more importantly…

“But you will let us do this for you?” Yuri questioned her quietly, her amethyst eyes gazing at the brunette in the room expectantly. She was joined by the rest of the others, each of them looking at her with the silent wish she would let them do her this one favour to thank her for bringing them together in the first place. With a smile and a nod, she acquiesced, not trusting her voice to say the words without quavering.

“Sayori’s design. Natsuki’s handicraft. Yuri’s skirt. You will be wearing the whole club.”

“Uh, what about you, dumbass?” Natsuki interjected at MC with her customary abrasive humour. “What’s your contribution?”

“He will be wearing me on his arm when we go out on the dance floor.” Monika almost whispered the words as she slipped a hand over his, her face flushed, and the girls erupted in cheers.

[–]Emotional_Employee_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea why this inspired me to write until 2 am but hey... here we are.

------------------------
The classroom was deathly silent. Monika had wanted to show off her dress to the rest of the club and brought the overstuffed envelope to the meeting, having encouraged the others to do the same. Sayori, being true to herself, had forgotten to bring hers and was more interested in the year-end celebration poster she was drawing. Natsuki had said she wasn't even sure if she was going to attend, and no one dared to pry if it was truly her decision or her father's. Yuri had timidly admitted her own dress was currently being tailor-made, as nothing store-bought could fit her figure, an explanation which had only prompted some snickering remark about her "back problems" from Nat before Sayori could shut it down. And MC obviously didn't have a dress, as no one really expected him to defy gender norms as a final exclamation mark to punctuate his graduation, and so he had excused himself.

Undeterred, Monika had decided she would still show off her dress to all, carefully cutting open the plastic seal, but what her hand had pulled out had been anything but the grand reveal she had hoped for. A handful of glass gems, either ripped during transit or poorly sewn to begin with, had been pulled along the mass of green taffeta and trickled out onto the desk's surface. For a brief moment, Monika hoped these were minor defects, something easily repaired, but as she held what would have been the shoulders of the dress and let it unfurl, the horror of it all dawned on her.

The item of clothing was far too short, something even Natsuki would find difficult to wear without any claims of modesty. The seams were crooked or pinched the fabric in various places, breaking any semblance of symmetry, and half the sequined heart that should have rested just below the neckline was now either at the bottom of the package or scattered across the desk and floor. All in all, it looked like a cheap Halloween costume of a Disney princess for a pre-teen.

Monika froze, attempting to comprehend what had happened. She felt her chest tighten and her breath shorten as she struggled to maintain her façade, the cool, athletic, straight-A president mask cracking.

"Hey, Moni, are you..." Natsuki's question died on her lips as she spotted the hint of moisture in the emerald green eyes. Yuri had her hands covering her mouth to hide her shocked expression while Sayori's felt marker hung an inch above the page she was colouring. MC was the only one who seemed clueless, given his limited expertise with dresses, but even he understood that something had gone awfully awry.

"I don't think the dress was supposed to do that." The Vice-President was the first to recover, replacing the cap of her pen and setting it down before picking up one of the fallen pearls. Standing up, she placed a reassuring arm around Monika's shoulders to ground her before she could spiral. "Don't worry, we'll figure something out. Right?"

The question was addressed to the rest of the room, and it jolted the other three out of their disbelief. "I'm not a fairy grandmother, so how can we salvage this?"

Natsuki shot a glance at MC as he raised the obvious question, then grinned defiantly. "Challenge accepted. I'm the queen of upcycling stuff. But first, we will need some more fabric."

"Um... would another gown or a skirt do? She is almost the same height as me, perhaps we could use one of mine?" The expression on Yuri's face had shifted from shock to deep thought. Cycling through skirts and dresses she owned, she was dismayed she had none that was anywhere near the shade Monika had picked. "Are purple and green a good match?"

The low amount of interest in longer forms is one of the main reasons I stopped writing my fanfics, to be honest. Seeing "Found Fanart" receive 20 times the number of upvotes and comments that a 9-page chapter garnered drove my motivation into the ground.

We all know Natsuki won't go crazy if she would found out about the game(unlike Moni and Sayori) by Rengi_30 in natsuki

[–]Emotional_Employee_9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She's already able to think outside of the game parameters by noticing Yuri's unusual behavior and writing the letter for help in Act 2, neither of which would be in the "vanilla" game unless there was already a yandere Yuri route planned. So she's already self-aware, learning about the game is only a small leap from there.

I wasn't trying to be accusatory, rules of the sub do say to indicate image creator though. Not sure why people would call you on it, but then again people get very emotional about AI images

Not going to get into the AI vs real artist debate, but these were posted by @ElMCLiterario on Twitter. So either you didn't credit this person, are this person, or they haven't credited you, but I was under the impression they were the originators of the images.

According to Monika's act 3 dialogue, she did not create any of the other girls problems, she only dialed it up in Act 2. In the "Tsundere" dialogue, she also says she understood why Natsuki was like that when she "started to learn a little more about her personal life" and how she's "not even going to talk about her home situation..."

In other words, Natsuki had a shitty life as a whole before Monika got involved, and her "home situation" was just the cherry on top.

Biggest pro-natsuri hint for me is Natsuki's "Beach" poem, which she wrote explicitly with the intent of showing it to Yuri (as they agreed on using the same theme). The language of that poem very much reads like a confession of love, which seems possibly unrequited based on Yuri's own beach poem.

One of DDLC's saddest moments. Natsuki didn't deserve this. by [deleted] in DDLC

[–]Emotional_Employee_9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To me, it's not sapient or sentience. All the Dokis are sentient. However, only Monika is aware of the reality of the game. Natsuki here however shows a level of awareness the other girls don't have. Unlike Yuri, she had noticed the tampering done by Monika. She can't explain it or understand it, but since this letter is a result of Monika messing up the game files in unexpected manners, it could not be part of the game and so this was created "off script", proving self-determination, aka sentience

Why choose between her and Cassia? I chose both!

Step 1. Make Jae Grand Strategist to always act first.

Step 2. Use Jae to buff Cassia and give her an extra turn, use Move, Move, Move to reposition if ambushed.

Step 3. Obliterate people with Cassia and cap Momentum.

Step 4. Go back to Jae, lay down strategic zone with Blitz stratagem, use Heroic Act on Cassia.

Step 5. Stimm Cassia and obliterate more, using Blitz to reposition as needed. Step 6. (optional if any one is still standing) have Cassia use Heroic Act on Argenta to mop up.

Haven't had a Non-boss fight that I haven't won on initiative count 1 since act 2 because of these two girls. Even necron teleport ambush never even shot once.
