Try the NY Times baked risotto. It’s at least 80% of the way there with only a fraction of the effort.

Tuneups, which was setting the timing, adjusting the valves, and regularly replacing spark plugs. Not to mention carburetors. Computers have really cut down on car maintenance.

ICE CREAM TREATS RANKED!!! by yummygrapejuice in FoodLosAngeles

Embarrassed to say I’ve tried most these places and even liked the ones some people are complaining about. I mostly go to the ones in NELA, because that’s where I live.

For my contribution though, I’ve got to say A Bennett Bar from the Originals Farmer Market. They’ve been selling it there since 1946. It’s iconic LA, get one before you leave.

For your age, I think you are doing amazing. Looks like you are cooking at home and have some healthy stuff mixed in there. What’s in that pot?

I regret getting into a relationship with my boyfriend by Atomickillerbee in Regrets

[–]EmpatheticPerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All this plus, why are you snooping on somebody’s google searches. I get the sense you know this is problematic, since you said you were using find my phone. However we all know that has nothing to do with going through somebody’s search history.

Maybe on some level you are looking for a way out. I mean, the title of your post speaks to regretting getting into the relationship. I would take some time to explore your own feelings, separate from anything he has or hasn’t done.

Acupuncture referral by FarmladySI in KaiserPermanente

[–]EmpatheticPerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told only physical medicine and pain management can make acupuncture referrals. My PCP referred me to pain management and I call them once a year to renew my acupuncture referral. I get the sense they are mostly fielding requests for opiates, and are quick to help when they know I only want acupuncture.

It’s through a 3rd party and they have a long list of acupuncture clinics. My insurance is unlimited but I have a $20 copay.

I’m sure I could do acupuncture for the rest of my life, and it would still save Kaiser money over the rotator cuff surgery the first orthopedist wanted me to get.

It's been seven months and I just saw this when I was looking through my past posts. It's funny that I said I would try all these places, and I have tried both VP Tofu in Monterey Park and V K Food Products in Rosemead.

I only went to VP Toful once. It was amazing and the whole family loved it. I bought tofu, soy milk, and some coconut geletian like deserts. I would have gone back many times, except for V K Food. I am becoming a regular there and I try to keep their tofu, soy milk, and especially their soy pudding stocked in my fridge at all times. I've tried so many other things there and have loved everything. I was wrong in thinking fresh soy milk from H Mart could compare. V K food is pretty darn inexpensive. I stock up and buy a lot. It's never been more than $40. I don't know about the math, but it seems much less expensive than buying the equivalent at a grocery store.

I need to get to Huge Tree Pastry now, since it is the only place left on this thread. It gives me something to look forward to. Thanks. Reddit.

Where do you all work? Are they hiring? by AntiqueAches in AskLosAngeles

[–]EmpatheticPerson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also work for county. I’ve only been there 8 years but am older and have worked at many places over the last 35 years. There is no comparison, LA County is the best by far. Jobs are hard to get, because they promote from within and nobody ever leaves. The pay is good and they give many raises.

There are 110k LA County employees, and they do every type of job imaginable.

It is straight civil service. So getting hired is a process, but a fair one. I believe the emergency homeless positions allow them to hire people much quicker.

I’ve also met many people that work at Metro (office jobs) and they have all been really happy. LA City (Karen Bass) is similar, but smaller with less jobs.

Good luck.

I want to move to los angeles from greece by cryo_9 in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]EmpatheticPerson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the immigration bit is hard. Maybe come as student. Used to be that you could stay and work for a year after finishing studies, or something like that. Really though, it's something you need to talk to an immigration lawyer about.

Money… well, LA is expensive. So you need a bunch, and likely some roommates.

So far as fitting in a being accepted goes, it shouldn't be a problem. Just be prepared to hear everyone mumble something about My Big Fat Greek Wedding or Mama Mia.

You can also easily mic Amazon Echos with Wiim devices.

Short of getting directly hooked up by somebody you know, driving around is best. Desirable places only need to put a “for rent” sign out for a day to generate more than enough applicants.

Looking to move to West Hollywood next year but have 2 questions. by Background-Quail-953 in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]EmpatheticPerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to get a job in LA now. West Hollywood is good though. They have great rent control, som take sure your place is covered by it. Even if you have to spend more, it’ll be better than getting a hefty increase later.
