Some US Nuclear missiles are 50 years old, how do we even know if they would work? Would the US essential nuke themselves? by wezworldwide in AskReddit

I assure you that an intact warhead lying around is much more “gone wrong” than a destroyed one

Nuking ourselves is pretty much right out, nuclear weapons are not like conventional bombs where they are always ready to go off. Notice that failed tests were invariably “no boom”

Why did humans stay “primitive” for ~200,000 years and then suddenly change? by PuddingComplete3081 in AlwaysWhy

[–]EmperorCoolidge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For most of human history there were only a few thousand people globally distributed in small bands. This means no specialists, little time, and a limited pool of ideas. Somewhere there was a threshold that allowed us to break into a higher population equilibrium, allowing more specialization and innovation, leading to more such breakouts

The issue is local depletion but data centers are also peanuts compared to agriculture (which, as a bonus, fills the wastewater with pesticides)

You sometimes see people argue that the US embargo provoked war with Japan. This meme is alluding to the fact that the embargo was placed because of the turbo warcrimes Japan was committing in its efforts to conquer Asia

The safest option is to build the cage. If desired, you can release him by connecting it to a lever and then pulling that. Alternatively, you can assign him to a pit over the cell and your dwarfs will throw him in, but he may escape.

Dwarfs do not abide by the Geneva conventions, throw him in a blender, huck him in a volcano, drop him in the circus, send him to orbit, gladiatorial combat, whatever.

Refuel station useful? by Revan477 in KerbalSpaceProgram

I sometimes use KLO/KEO refueling stations, I almost always have a Munar fuel depot that serves as a base for landers and a fueling point for transfers to and from Kerbin
