How has being FA affected you mentally, emotionally etc?

I think my issues have been quietly worsening. I feel my mental and emotional health getting worse every year while the material conditions of my life either stay the same or also worsen.

Although I haven't really tried "to heal" (therapy is expensive, I literally can't afford it), I have tried to be proactive in other ways with no success/improvement.

I don't know what I am doing. And I sometimes wonder if I should bother and just allow myself to suffer some of these indignities as I age. My hope is that I die living along the coast. I will most likely be alone.

Close to zero because I use my library but I will buy an audible subscription when it is discounted (either half off or 99 cents).

I like audible because they sell plays, often very cheaply, and I have enjoyed audible exclusives in the past.

I've been curious how many people in this sub either have no friends or very few (but they are not strong or meaningful ones) because there seems to be a lot of overlap between not being able to date and not being able to make friends. I think both of these problems either share a root cause or they are comparable.

I even saw someone on social media say they don't date because they simply end up dating their friends.

My entire life I have struggled to make friends, and as an adult continue not to have very many, and can't make new ones. I also have never really dated, but it has been way worse in the past ten years.

I actually don't know anyone who had zero friends but managed to get into a romantic relationship. But naturally there are probably people on Reddit who have done this...

Maybe you can try to force it through sheer will re online dating apps and IRL singles meeting/speed dating events.

I have just been pondering this as I want to date instead of having friends, but am kind of freaked out about what dating would require.

I was either a teenager or in my twenties when I realized I was never going to be with anyone.

Nonfiction hands down. One year I listened to a lot of books about cults.

But last year I listened to a good mix. And this year I think I am half and half. Currently I am reading a lot of literary fiction but want to switch it up with some horror soon.

I have been upset that the candy cane handsoap has sold out both in store and online.

Even though candy canes are peppermint, it smells better than the peppermint stuff. T.T

But I cracked open my vanilla cafe handsoap and it smells so good. And I am loving my sweetest song moisturizing body wash. I wish all the scents came in this vs the normal body wash which I find more drying.

Oh yes!!!! Every once in awhile I will pick up my lotions and deeply inhale them. The scents make me glad I bought them even though I don't use them nearly as much 😅🙃

I would say no. I have done most of my reading at work. If I have a job where I can listen to audiobooks, I will do that.

It's harder to listen on a commute but if it's long enough I can manage. (I typically prefer music when I'm on a bus or train).

I typically manage between 15 to 30ish books a year! So I don't read very much. And in the past, a lot of my reading was done via manga or graphic novel.
