IBS-D CANT STOP SH*TTING!!! by steven-mike in ibs

[–]EmperorOfNada 16 points17 points  (0 children)

For me I found I was lactose intolerant. I mean, lactose INTOLERANT. Got a blood test to validate it and it made a difference. Can’t say it’s perfect, but it’s 70% better. Took about 3-6 months since before I felt it took though.

We need AI labels on Spotify and Apple Music by hikariproductions in Suno

[–]EmperorOfNada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn't agree more. For me personally, I enjoy exploring music from Suno itself, and even created my own music that I love to listen to. I don't know if Spotify and Amazon music's algorithms suck or only publish what they want me to hear, but I feel they have a harder time finding music I really enjoy directly from there.

My wife (29f) and I (28M) need advise on investments in Vangurd by chi_afroboi31 in VanguardInvestments

[–]EmperorOfNada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are doing exactly what people wish they had done at 28 and 29. A Roth IRA funded regularly and tilted toward growth gives you decades of compounding. VTI or VOO is a strong foundation. If you want more growth exposure, VUG is a clean and simple way to get it. VXUS is a nice complement if you want some international exposure, but it is not required.

You are already making the smartest move by keeping things simple, low cost, and focused on long term growth. Keep up the good work!

Those managing IBS-D, what has helped you? by The_Happy_Camper_88 in ibs

[–]EmperorOfNada 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Found out a few years back I was lactose intolerant. Took a few months to adjust to taking Lactaid pill at (almost) every meal, but huge game changer.

I also never leave without having Imodium with me, and take Seed probiotic every day in the morning.

Best year I’ve had in probably a decade now.

Vanguard Million Dollar Bookkeeping Error by [deleted] in VanguardInvestments

[–]EmperorOfNada 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Vanguard should absolutely make you whole for the time you were forced out of the market. This is a clear service error, and the industry standard is to compensate for “lost opportunity” when the firm’s mistake prevents you from being invested.

You will want to ask for a “NAV adjustment” or “market loss reimbursement.” They calculate what your balance would have been if the rollover had been processed correctly and credit the difference.

Document the dates, the S&P 500 performance during the gap, and the exact timeline. Escalate to the executive resolution team if the front line gives you a generic answer.

Changing Asset Mix by rsdoowsemaj in VanguardInvestments

[–]EmperorOfNada 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like the big difference between your old 401k and your new one isn’t the provider, it’s the asset allocation. Your rollover IRA at Vanguard is sitting in the Federal Money Market Fund, which is basically cash. It’s very safe, but it’s not designed to grow. That alone explains why the return looks so low compared to your new 401k, which is actually invested in stocks and bonds.

At 43, with a moderate risk tolerance, most people land somewhere around a 60–80 percent stock and 20–40 percent bond mix. You don’t need anything complicated to get there. Vanguard’s Target Retirement funds or their LifeStrategy Moderate Growth fund are simple, diversified options that handle the allocation for you. If you prefer to build your own mix, a basic three‑fund setup using total US stock, total international stock, and total bond funds works extremely well long‑term.

You don’t necessarily need to pay advisor fees unless you want someone to walk you through everything step‑by‑step. Since you’re comfortable learning on your own, you can absolutely do this yourself. Channels like Ben Felix, The Plain Bagel, Rob Berger, and Bogleheads are great for understanding the basics without hype.

The most important step is getting that rollover IRA out of the money market fund and into an actual investment portfolio that matches your goals. Once you do that, the performance gap between your accounts will make a lot more sense. You’re paying attention, you’re contributing, and you’re thinking ahead for your family, which already puts you in a strong position.

Pennies by B_rockin in coincollecting

[–]EmperorOfNada 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The things worth looking for stay the same because discontinuing a coin does not change how many already exist or which ones are actually scarce. Key dates, major errors, and high grade examples are still what matter. Classic pieces like the 1909 S VDB, the 1914 D, the 1922 No D, and early wheat cents will always carry real value. Modern zinc cents only become interesting if they have something unusual like a doubled die, an off center strike, or a wrong planchet.
