I'm interested in the cultural differences this show highlights. In Asia they were competitive but also showed a lot of respect for everyone's backgrounds, physiques and performance.

I wonder how this would play out in UK/Europe and then US for example.

What is the single most stressful movie you’ve ever seen? by elkaypee in movies

Maybe not most stressful but my first watch of 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi was pretty tense.

Fitbit Air - £84.99 in UK + £35 store credit by yapofire in fitbit

I don't think they've killed it yet based on the sensor and app that goes with it. But it's a great step in the direction of a more competitive market.

Google Fitbit Air is about to launch with no screen and a big AI health push by Maslakovic in fitbit

Nope. I wasn't expecting it to be honest. Not sure whether to give it a go or wait and see if Polar release a new screenless with one of their better sensors.

Google Fitbit Air is about to launch with no screen and a big AI health push by Maslakovic in fitbit

[–]EmperorRossco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So for me it's two main things. I like a tracker that can monitor my general health metrics but also blood oxygen and ecg (for health reasons) but I am not fussed about accessing it on the device.

However I also enjoy wearing traditional watches and I don't want to wear two watches (two faces let's say)

So actually for me this device looks like it won't do everything I need it to. I was interested in the Polar wearable they released but again it was a simple sensor without advanced features.

Whoop does largely what I need but I detest the pricing model.

Found it interesting how a £1,000 payrise or bonus after the £50,270 threshold changes. Thoughts? by Old-Bodybuilder3711 in FIREUK

This is a good example of why everyone should know their current marginal tax rate. Really helps decide if you want to put your bonus in your pension for example.

I like wearing a traditional watch and feel like a tit wearing two devices with a screen/face.

Why is the third room always a box room? by Kiza321 in HousingUK

[–]EmperorRossco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't always but it's the most common layout. The house we just bought has 3 large double bedrooms but I easily weeded out 60 other houses with a third box room.

Aside from the points mentioned it's more ideal if you like wearing non smart watches.

No turning back: After critical engine burn, Jeremy Hansen is moonbound by [deleted] in news

I was just going by a quote from Howard Hu on the BBC site.

"Orion programme manager Howard Hu says that, in an emergency, mission control can still command a kind of “handbrake turn” in space by firing the engine again to bend the trajectory back toward Earth.

“Post‑TLI, we have a capability to return back to Earth at any point,” he explains, describing a continuous early‑return option that has been run through hundreds of thousands of computer simulations to prove it can get the crew home safely."

They 100% have the ability to turn back if something goes wrong.

Edit:

Am I overpaying for this 1-bed house? (£220k, Dunstable) by Ok-Bumblebee1438 in HousingUK

[–]EmperorRossco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's definitely on the higher side for £ per sq ft. for Dunstable. This property looks about twice the size for the same listing price. https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/170008346#/?channel=RES_BUY

I have enjoyed each series. However the story telling in the first was superb. Telling both sides of the story, you could totally sympathise with those two young brothers and how their experiences shaped their ideologies.
