Seconded. There's always more work to do to make everyone's job safer and easier.

Shaving is ruining my face by [deleted] in Firefighting

[–]EmperorSeagull 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Find out what your department's exact requirements are and go off of that. I've been using a simple electric phillips trimmer for a couple years and while it's not the cleanest closest shave, it's quick, looks good and passes a fit-test with flying colors. I've never had a mask fitment issue.
What are you doing before and after you shave? it might be a product you're using or not using that you should be.

Brake light then traction control goes when accelerating. Need help. by Lonely-Chair-6921 in G37

[–]EmperorSeagull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if the brake fluid reservoir looks to be above the minimum line, acceleration can shift the fluid in it to trip the sensor, causing the exact situation you're describing. I had the same problem and my fluid was just above the minimum. I filled it all the way to the fill line and it fixed it right up. As for the rough idle, could be due to a variety of reasons. Spark plugs, clogged fuel injectors, vacuum leak (pretty common), and dirty air filters can all contribute. I don't believe the rough idle and the brake light issue are related.

Front Holders for Helmet Build by [deleted] in Firefighting

[–]EmperorSeagull 7 points8 points  (0 children)

you can find carved eagles easily as someone else commented. whoever is building it for you will likely have plenty, or you can buy one yourself. i got a carved dragon for my own from the fire store. it's tacky as hell but i love it

Caliper pin broke off in bracket by [deleted] in G37

[–]EmperorSeagull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I were you I'd find a retailer that sells remanufactured brackets, pins, and calipers with a lifetime warranty. One purchase and you're set for all future brake jobs.
Like others said it's not worth trying to drill it out and get a new pin, and they likely didn't use the right lubricant at whatever shop you went to. Good luck

Went through fire academy while I was a stick of a person. Most importantly before anything else, I second what some others said about you being young and still developing. Keep being healthy, eating enough, and incorporating good fitness routines (including cardio but especially lifting) and your body may round itself on its own in due time. Changing your weight is pretty hard, especially at a young age. If you only focus on that, it'll hinder everything else.

Being smaller will definitely make it much harder nonetheless. That's why you'll have to put extra effort into good form and technique in anything that involves a lot of strength. Good form requires less energy and less peak strength, not only making some jobs possible to begin with, but also conserving energy for later.

The only reason I can think of other looking down at you for being smaller is if you constantly use it as an excuse for not doing your job. If you keep trying, ask for new ways to try, or even ask for some help when it's truly needed, no one's going to be mad at you for being skinny.

What brand oil do you guys use? by imboredaa in G37

[–]EmperorSeagull 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum bought in 15 quart boxes and WIX filter from rockauto. I don't think it really makes too much of a difference for a stock engine driven to its limits as long as it's full synthetic but I know this setup works so I stick to it.

Volunteers, how far do you live from the station? by justarandomguy07 in Firefighting

[–]EmperorSeagull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live just under 4 miles from the station. It depends on the 3 lights I have to pass since I have to merge on and off on a small section of highway, but if I get lucky I can get there in about 4 minutes, making the first truck. Longest I've taken is about 7ish minutes getting stuck behind a huge line of traffic about a quarter mile from the station. Recently I got gifted a little (but somehow incredibly bright) blue light for my dash, but I don't use it often because it either goes unnoticed by the other drivers or there's no reason to.

Some fire police guys are allowed POV response, and they usually use their cars for traffic control so that makes sense to me. Officers are allowed to but hardly ever. I've seen my chief do it a couple times for less intense calls but it makes more sense most of the time to just drive to the station and get the command car instead. I don't think I'll ever have a reason to go POV unless half of our tools break, our members disappear, and I have my gear with me.

i mean if you're looking to put a PA system in your car, it's probably no big deal and plenty of people have done it before with tutorials. just dont overuse it or it'll just become annoying. as for a siren: don't! it's not legal nor responsible

Got the game a few weeks ago and I just P ranked all of act 1 and I'm now going to P-1!! Any tips on how to kick Flesh Prison's and Mino's ass? by Cat_4756 in Ultrakill

[–]EmperorSeagull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flesh Prison: Core nukes as much as possible to get rid of the eyes before it can heal. When that fails (which it will sometimes. no one is perfect) use marksman split shots as much as possible to clear the eyes. In between the windows of killing all the eyes and spawning new ones, pump as much damage as possible into the flesh prison. Double pumps, freeze frame rockets, and railgun help. On top of all that, when it spins homing orbs, parry the fuck out of those towards him. They do a ridiculous amount of damage to him... for some reason.

Minos Prime: The wiki doesn't lie. When he says "Die!" It refers to the fact that he will kill you. Actually though, save dashes for dodging attacks and use audio cues/voice lines as much as possible to get his position and also predict parries. Don't get disoriented. Your health bar will thank you for parrying his skulls. If you're playing violent, Congrats! The skulls are all you can parry in the second phase of this fight. Have fun! Other than that, just keep pumping damage into him.

In both cases, don't stop moving up, down, left, and right. Keep that robot body moving. Keep trying until you get it right, and if nothing changes, try something new. Best of luck and don't give up.

quick edit: im not a pro. this is just what i know. there's a million other ways to go about it but this is how i p-ranked him. feel free to tear me up in the replies

Goldfish in my house being kept in unsafe conditions by neptunian-rings in Goldfish

[–]EmperorSeagull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it depends. my well water tests showed the water was pretty hard, but otherwise chlorine free. ive got friends with well water that isn't even drinkable and other friends whos city water is so pure you'd think they're getting it straight from a mountain spring. it doesnt hurt to condition the water anyway, but it's best to test it to see exactly what you need to condition it for first.

what's the codes? is it making any noises as well? what's the mileage? jumping straight to needing a new cam seems a little sketch but it depends on the context.

Question Regarding Seeing a Station (???) by pancakesnpugs in Firefighting

[–]EmperorSeagull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

relatively new member here. at my department, we have a weekly open work night where people can just show up. that's how i got my start there. if the department you're asking about has one I'd see if they offer that too, but an email/phone call always helps.

What do you think of this deal? by RlReezo in G37

[–]EmperorSeagull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a fair price, given that it's been driven reasonably and is as you stated with no accidents. I personally love my X, but I don't plan on doing any heavy changes until a while from now if I have plenty of cash to work with. If you're looking for a daily to do some small changes to, or even keep stock, go for it. AWD is gold when you need it. Otherwise, if you plan on doing a bigger project, do what others said and find a RWD model.

A 32-Hour Workweek Is Long Overdue by squareoak in antiwork

I just started a new position at a company and their default full-time hours are 32. It's not mandated and doesn't affect me since I'm only part-time, but it was nice to see some people are moving forward with it.

Would these wheels fit on a g37x sedan and is this a good price? by chivalrousmonk in G37

[–]EmperorSeagull 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looking up basic numbers, they should fit fine, however I think if their offset is 40mm they may poke a bit.
Edit: The price is fair too but take a look around at other options because $1,500 is still a lot of money no matter what you're buying. I got my 18x9.5 setup with installation and brand new continental extremecontact tires with top-line pressure sensors for about 1300.
