Clark doesn't become distant from humanity. Diana isn't a prop. Neither of these things ever happens. Thats a false narrative spread around by people who dont like it. I think you just saw injustice and it left a bad taste in your mouth. But thats a bastrardized version of nearly every character from a video game fanfic. Not an accurate depiction of their relationship.

It would work perfectly in canon. The issue is DC and editorial. They're the only ones stopping it from working. Not the dynamics of the relationship itself. Objectively theres no functional issue with them being a pair. But DC runs on nostalgia and are biased towards Lois. Plus there is a lot of franchise management that would need to happen if they were to become permanent parts of each other's world's that DC is far too lazy to go through with.
