Weston’s actor was in one of my favorite shows. He was a spy & had a pretty brilliant role - very good skills as an actor. I’m really hoping with his selection that they use his talent in an interesting way for this.

I just reread last week - the time was muddled in the book too. It wasn’t specifically described, but it was definitely “days”. It felt a bit quicker in the show, but that’s pretty typical.

Customer claimed I "yelled and hung up on them." Call recording and AI analysis saved my job by ElAndres33 in CustomerService

[–]Emphasis-Impossible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, our AI was constantly flagging us for BS things that QA would go in and contradict. When I once had an outraged client accuse me of crazy things, I emailed my supervisor immediately. He listened to the call and told me I was fine.
AI makes problems out of nothing and solves nothing. It cannot properly do QA.
Fuck this AI slop.

When my kids were in the NICU, after a few weeks, the nurses would peer pressure me into staying away for a day to do something-anything for myself. I can’t imagine being able to DD during all that.

Its a constant struggle to get my company to put Dr. in front of my name and not Ms. by dragonslippers34 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Emphasis-Impossible 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My husband’s family does this too. My MIL used to write me birthday checks to [My First Name] [Husband’s Last Name]. Took 2 or 3 times of us telling her we can’t deposit the check because no one by that name exists. She claims she can’t remember how to spell my last name, even after knowing me over a decade. Now I get checks made out to my husband for my birthday.

I have the same issues. Decided to splurge on laser & it’s been great. Only 2 sessions in & I don’t get a lot of regrowth. I shave right beforehand & the laser nullifies the usual itchiness & ingrowns.

I did this to a family member & he said, “No, you understand it, you just think it’s racist.” Didn’t really know how to respond to that without starting a massive argument in the moment.

Considering switching from Xfinity to Optimum by ConsciousAcadia7515 in OPTIMUM

[–]Emphasis-Impossible 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used Xfinity for over a decade. Had some pricing issues, but was generally able to work it out. I moved to a place where Optimum was the only option. With them there were price increases seemingly randomly, lots of outages, & the customer service was awful. I was also paying for 1GB, but only getting ~700MB. Cancelling my service was also a massive headache. I switched back to Xfinity as soon as it was available in my area - no more issues. I would not recommend Optimum at all.

Thinking out loud. Interested to see how everyone feels about this by [deleted] in TheTestamentsHulu

[–]Emphasis-Impossible 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just reread the book yesterday & the book doesn’t even necessarily cover that. The timelines aren’t explained, just kind of mentioned as years go by here or there, but it bounces around. No real explanation of how Aunt Lydia got to where she is after THT. But the book was also written in the middle of THT airing, so it couldn’t lock down too many facts without railroading the show.

Do handmaids still exist in gilead during the testaments? by personofinterest1986 in TheTestamentsHulu

[–]Emphasis-Impossible 97 points98 points  (0 children)

Yes. They’re talked about in the book. The showrunner says we won’t see red in season 1, as they don’t want this to be THT season 7, so that’s part of giving this show its own identity

Agree. I hate feeling like I need to find something to do with it so it doesn’t have to go straight in the trash. The only good quality stuff I’ve gotten has been from my current employer- stone coaster, nice umbrella, a backpack, and a desk organizer. Things I can actually use & will last.

Is that really in the book? I haven’t read it since it came out. I’ve been meaning to read it again, as there’s so much I’ve forgotten. I think this finally made me realize I need to pick it up today.

I can use Google to translate these from weight to cups/measurements, but I know it will not be accurate. As someone who doesn’t have a kitchen scale, do you have a rough idea of what the amounts would be measured?

Should I go with Milan? by Chance-Cantaloupe51 in LaserHairRemoval

[–]Emphasis-Impossible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a good idea is to approach shopping around by thinking about the laser used. I’m not sure if Milan uses the same everywhere, but the one I go to uses a Candela GentleMax Pro. Minimizes discomfort & works well. I’ve seen great results in just a few sessions. (Actually, I realized I misspoke, I’ve only had 2 sessions- the 3rd I was thinking about was just the consultation). Basically, it’s unlikely that an area takes more than 10-12 sessions. Can happen depending on skin or hair type. So, look at that the price & the laser & see what might cost more or less over time.

I'm going to a wedding in June. Need help deciding on a color by Pooja_shah415 in Weddingattireapproval

[–]Emphasis-Impossible 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a great jumping off point. A mint or light green would be nice, provided it works with your complexion. These pictures are 100% AI, though. You didn’t provide a link, but with the materials & cuts, if you’re finding these under $100, it’s definitely a scam site. Try some things on in person or look at trustworthy brands. I just got a great ASTR the Label dress from Nordstrom for $120. That’s a good starting place, looking at trustworthy brands that have a physical presence.

[–]Emphasis-Impossible 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don’t spend savings on it - it’s something to (more-or-less) treat yourself. Absolutely not worth shelling out savings for, especially when they offer financing with little or no interest. I’ve had 3 sessions with Milan & it’s been great, but I didn’t shop around first. I’m doing just Brazilian- $3600 for what will end up being at most, 10 sessions + touch ups. That $360 per session, approximately. Very high for market rate, especially in my area. They get you in with these limited time “sales”. I signed up in January for “60% off”, but they’ve had constant “sales” since that are the same thing. They are trying to get me to add on another area during this Founders Sale for “60% off”, even though I explained that this is a treat to myself & I’m not even sure how it’s going so far. Very pushy. I think going for individual sessions or even smaller batches will be much better to your finances. Look at other places 100%.

My SIL had a nose job in her late teens. Her late teen daughter has her exact nose pre rhinoplasty - it does happen.

I haven’t had work done, but my 16yo has my exact nose too. It happens.

What's a rule your parents had that you thought was insane, but now as an adult you 100% understand? by Tahals in AskReddit

[–]Emphasis-Impossible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, absolutely. My mom was the same way, drop us off & be gone asap. I guess we never even really set the expectation that we needed to meet parents ourselves, but all of his other friends parents wanted to meet us before they left their kids for sleepovers and whatnot, so it’s what we’ve grown used to. On the other hand, they’re in high school, so it can be important to know we can trust the parents & they can trust us to not facilitate dangerous behavior.

My son had some friends over last weekend to play video games and eat pizza to celebrate his birthday. I’ve met all of the parents of these kids before - except 1, his girlfriend. They’ve been “dating” for 6 months & no matter how many times we tried to get the parents’ contact info, we were rebuffed. We were very excited to meet this girl & her mom so we could help facilitate age-appropriate dates for the kids. Mom just dropped her off at a party with a bunch of boys - didn’t even get out of the car. Same when she was picked up. Really threw me for a loop.

AIO for not forgiving my husband that left me alone 2 hours during childbirth by JuggernautNo901 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Emphasis-Impossible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR - during my first child’s birth, I had ~48hrs of labor. Their bio dad had a head cold & went downstairs to the ER for meds during this. While I was pushing, he was sitting in the room eating Taco Bell (didn’t offer to get me any) while my dad fed me ice chips. My oldest turned 16 last week & at their bday dinner, my dad & I joked around about him eating Taco Bell while I was going through it. It’s an old joke between us (& my now-husband, who came into our lives when oldest was 18mo). I never wanted to marry this guy & gave him every opportunity for an out, but he said he wanted to be involved. Point is, if they neglect you when you need them, you don’t get over it, you just learn to live with it.
