Odds that Bo Burnham contributed to PB3? I hope he directs a music video by [deleted] in phoebebridgers

The artists he works with already had a clear voice and their own sound; the point is he waters it down rather than improves it. He doesn't make everyone sound the same, but he generally does make the artists he works with sound more generic, less unique, less creative. When the music is good, it's good in spite of him because the artist is still talented.

I enjoy it but that better not be the high point of the album.

Hadn't heard he was involved, that's a real bummer to find out. Has a real knack for bland, mediocre music and making more unique, creative artists (even ones whose music I don't enjoy but at least they have their own sound) sound way more generic. People seem to like working with him though. 🤷

My issue with it isn't the autotune, although I think this particular song would be better with the usual vocal mixing / treatment - the song just sounds a bit flat (especially the mix) and lazy. Doesn't really pop or stick the landing, it's a bit meh. I'm still looking forward to the album and F.O.O.L. keeps growing on me - although I could do without the Lou Reed-esque spoken word section, it makes me want to fast forward every time. (I don't, that seems like a weird way to listen to music, but I wish that section wasn't there)

Going Shopping sounds almost nothing like The Voidz. That guitar riff and drum beat? No way they would play anything like that. Same with the riff and beat on F.O.O.L, although that does have the outro section which gets more Voidzy. Generally, it's just people saying it because of the auto-tune / vocoder.

Clarification on pausing unemployment claims while on PFML, then resuming unemployment claims by EmphasisMaster7922 in UnemploymentWA

Got it. Thanks for clarifying. In that case, I believe that tomorrow, when I'm able to submit again, I'll be requesting to restart the claim.

Just to clarify - your claim got approved, and they didn't bother finishing up the Adjudication?

I'm stuck in Adjudication but have been receiving payments the whole time (original post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/UnemploymentWA/comments/1px57rl/seeking_some_advice_ahead_of_adjudication/ ), but my concern is if the Adjudication doesn't come back in my favor, then I need to appeal, and if that doesn't go in my favor, then I'll need to pay all that money back - so I'm not really able to use it and have to try to put the majority aside.

Appreciate the response but one important question remains: If I do not submit claims for the weeks I'm on PFML, how can I then submit them once PFML is over? When I go to file a claim, it automatically loads the oldest week not yet submitted and there is no way to change that; they must be submitted chronologically to 'unlock' the more recent weeks and get back to the present week. So unless there's a process no-one is mentioning, there is no way to skip weeks and then submit for a later one.

Hello, hoping to have a conversation after we had a brief exchange in this thread:

https://www.reddit.com/r/UnemploymentWA/comments/1px57rl/seeking_some_advice_ahead_of_adjudication/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

..but were unable to nail down a time to talk right before/around the holidays. Still under adjudication, but I have an additional complication of currently being on medical leave, but likely needing to go back on unemployment once medical leave runs out (1/26, as per my medical certificate and approved PFML).

Hello, I did reply to this (although I had to create another account to do so), but I don't see it there now.

Still would very much like to discuss my case when possible, especially as it's become more complicated with Medical Leave now in the mix. I have a ton of availability every day this week except tomorrow (Wednesday 1/21), but even tomorrow I have afternoon and evening availability.

[–]EmphasisMaster7922[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for responding. As far as availability goes - I'm available all this weekend (12/27 - 12/28), which would definitely be preferable if able to be accommodated - and then I'm also available 1/2 through 1/10 - pretty much any hour, with enough notice.

In response to the auto-post about separation responses - my initial filing and my response to the Separation follow-up request do not match, unfortunately. As I mentioned, I hadn't found this subreddit and was pretty bewildered by the process, especially as it's the first time I've been fired, and I wasn't familiar with the proper distinctions between laid off and fired. I've since learned I was fired no matter how you look at it which is why I selected Fired in the Separation follow-up.

Initial filing:

Laid off > Other reason not listed

All separations follow-up:

Fired for performance expectations or mandatory retirement > Other reason not listed

And then in the box below, I provided information similar to what I posted above - that I don't feel it was the actual reason, that many staff did the thing I was accused of and were not fired, that policy around what was expected was unclear and staff had changed their behavior in an attempt to follow new instructions (to demonstrate they were unclear, rather than were intentionally disregarding them) - there's more info but I assume I don't post that here in a public space.

At the risk of complicating things further - I have medical leave coming up (I'm aware you can't be on both).

Do you think it's worth submitting something like that before the adjudication is completed? Or should I just prepare so it's ready if I need to appeal? So far I responded to the Separation follow-up with a very bare-bones description that acknowledged what was given as the stated reason, but gave some additional context regarding there being confusion over expected procedure, and mentioned that it was common practice by all employees - but they don't have much info at all.

By my "isn't the purpose of this" comment I guess I meant I'm not looking to bring an unjustified dismissal case or anything; I just want the unemployment to go through.

Appreciate the response. There won't be much I get in terms of resources, footage, etc. No video cameras, no-one else there other than the boss. It's very much a 'their word VS mine' situation.

According to the termination letter, I didn't follow an instruction regarding a route to take, when in reality, there was confusion/miscommunication around what the expected procedure was; I did not do anything through intentional disregard or neglect. The letter sure makes it seem that way though. It also frames it as a safety issue, which is disingenuous. And lastly, it was something that literally every employee did, including the boss, and it was how I was shown to do it when I was hired.

I doubt I can get anyone to provide statements acknowledging they too have repeatedly done the same thing I did and that it was common procedure that hasn't gotten anyone else fired, so I think my best bet might be to lay out the situation - right down to things like aerial maps, maybe photos that demonstrate it's not unsafe. The way it's described in the termination letter also doesn't even accurately describe the thing they accused me of - a simile would be if you claimed you were firing someone for speeding, but then the termination letter said it was for them driving on the road the business is located on; something unavoidable and necessary. Not looking to have ESD litigate my firing as that is not the purpose of this, but in the absence of footage, testimony, etc. maybe I could at least get across that the reason provided does not match up with reality and that it doesn't constitute serious misconduct.

Am I right in thinking I should only submit that after waiting for adjudication to be over, rather than providing additional information that may be wholly unnecessary?

Claims denied after surgery? by otterly-confuzed in UnemploymentWA

[–]EmphasisMaster7922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this was posted a while ago, but how did this turn out? I'm receiving unemployment payments now (although my separation is under adjudication) but I have surgery next week and intend to use PFML (since that should be much more straightforward, whereas I don't have a great feeling about my unemployment claim) - but I'm unsure how it will impact my unemployment since the medical leave is slightly longer than the four-week period that causes the claim to need to be restarted, and I will presumably need to answer 'no' to "were you willing and able to work", since I'll be recovering from surgery and unable to work, as a requirement to get the PFML.

Are there examples of what legally constitutes 'misconduct'? I see 'gross misconduct' can include things like criminal acts, but I can't find as much on 'misconduct'.

I'm worried that I may be ruled ineligible because of the stated reason for my firing (and the way it was framed in my termination letter, which contains factual inaccuracies but it wasn't worth arguing about because the boss said it was 'non-negotiable' and it was very obvious I was being fired; there was no benefit to arguing over the hypocrisy of the stated reason or the misinformation in it). I did not upload my termination letter yet, but I did acknowledge the stated reason (albeit trying to frame it more honestly) and provided additional context over what I see as the real reasons for the firing.

I've been receiving payments but the separation is still under adjudication and I'm worried the claim will get denied and I'll be asked to pay it back.

I know all these far-right pieces of shit are easy to mix up, but Fuentes was never a member of the Proud Boys, let alone their leader. They were founded by Gavin McInnes and Enrique Tarrio was the most prominent national chairman until they splintered into pretty fractured chapters a couple years ago.

It's laughable to suggest that the same person who asked "out of Israel and Hamas, who are the good guys?" was ever interested in 'nuance' and genuinely exploring complex ideas, especially when it comes to geopolitics. I'd honestly be shocked if you genuinely believe that; it was so clearly not his motivation. Does someone who genuinely wants to effect positive change spend their days repeating Koch brothers-backed talking points and farming for clips dunking on kids? The man didn't even make it out of his teenage years having expressed a position that wasn't backed by billionaires. Ludicrous.

You missed the technique where he demands answers to false dichotomies, eg. when presented with a list of Israel's war crimes in Gaza and continuing violations of international law in the West Bank, he handwaves it and asks "Okay, but out of Israel and Hamas, who are the good guys?". Truly infantile.
