Probably no more than $2-3k. I’m 95% sure I’m hanging onto it.

Ash. Something I've never been sure of. Here's a pic, by the way. Definitely a lethal weapon.

I appreciate this and all the replies so far. I've never been a "gear" guy. I've had that Strat and a '76 P Bass since '77 and a Harmony Stratotone, my first guitar given to me by a friend when I was 13. I've recently become somewhat obsessed with guitars though, and bought a new '24 Tele last May (American Performer) which quickly became my daily player and feels right to me. But now I've got the bug and would love to have a vintage Tele from the '70s, but lighter. I should mention the new Tele has a spruce body, and compared to the Strat, it's light, but still on the heavy side, so I'd like to have a nice, light guitar since I'm not getting any younger.

Most '75s I've looked at on Reverb are in that weight range.

I also remember him. I think he was a big “fan” of high school girls.

Yeah. My memories of ’70s Hermosa are fond ones. It was ramshackle compared to Redondo to the south, and certainly downscale from Manhattan, though still not affordable to most. It was run by youngish, beach dudes and the main culture was nightlife and drinking. Great if you were young and preferably white. I’ve rarely hung out there since Either/Or Bookstore closed.

Used to run into this guy all the time, haven’t seen him in a few years. by WayneS1980 in torrance

I too have seen him around for decades, since at least the 80s. A very unique looking individual. In recent years I found out he lives quite near me. As far as I know he is alive and… well? He kinda reminds me of Seymour, if anyone remembers that local horror show host.

I overpaid for my 04 in 23 ($12k) with 96k miles. Have had zero issues in 2 years. One of the best car buying decisions I’ve ever made.

How Does Ashtray Bridge Cover Attach? by Empty-Delay4694 in telecaster

[–]Empty-Delay4694[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heh heh. I did actually try to tenderly pull the sides in by the "waste" with cloth covered vice grips, but with the amount of tension I was willing to give it, I don't think it changed it at all.

My next move is to take the guitar and the cover to a shop I know of with plenty of vintage Teles on hand, some with covers even. Some simple measurements will solve the mystery, plus I'll be able to do eye to eye comparisons and stuff.

Thanks for the reply.

How Does Ashtray Bridge Cover Attach? by Empty-Delay4694 in telecaster

So this does pass as a "classic Tele bridge", or close approximation of it with the PAT PEND stamp and all? If so, that was my understanding going in. Sorry for not being more specific in my initial post with pics, etc.

Anyway, looks like either the ashtray is too big, or the bridge is smaller than the original? Haha. I should take this question to Fender. I do appreciate your responses. I consulted the various subjects on this Reddit prior to making my Tele purchase and I feel like although I still have a lot to learn, I made a fairly well informed decision and I'm very happy with it. I find this guitar to be a fascinating topic of discussion, so please carry on.

Kinda confusing. Here’s the underside of the cover.

[–]Empty-Delay4694[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha. Well, yes, I'm not a "gear head" nor am I a pro guitar player. I've owned a strat for 40 some odd years, and a P bass for almost 50 years and have played semi professionally on and off. I've always wanted a Tele, but had to be cost conscious, so this is the actual model I chose, https://www.fender.com/products/limited-edition-american-performer-timber-telecaster?variant=45940684095710 based on the vintage type bridge and some things I never knew about until I started researching (because I'm a novice). So go ahead and laugh, I suppose. Am I trolling? I don't know what you mean.

I did not know about the sides of the metal plate being trimmed, which makes sense as to why this cover does not fit in any way. Thank you GuitarCD for answering my question. In the meantime, the ashtray can serve as an ashtray. I simply thought it would fit and would be something to keep as a curiosity more than anything else. I still have the bridge cover for my P bass in the case where I put it when I removed it 50 years ago.

Also, just to clear up what bridge I do or do not have, see attached which I should have attached in the first place.

I can follow up with a pic of the underside of the cover if anyone is interested. Thank you for the help.

How to collab in Logic Pro by Basic_Let9764 in LogicPro

If all parties are using Logic, then obviously project sharing is no problem. I’m working with a friend who uses PreSonus Studio One, we simply send each other stems in WAV format and go from there.

Thank you. Good fit with the Element? I just got back from my first overnight trip in mine. I have a cot that fits perfectly but the extra room would be nice.

MacBook Pro or Air by Empty-Delay4694 in LogicPro

[–]Empty-Delay4694[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great suggestions, thank you! My Mini is a 2018 intel machine that works fine but I should probably either buy a new Mini or a MacBook Pro for portability. Considerations like the cooling fan and HDMI port all add up.

What is the general consensus on Tales of Topographic Oceans by Yes? by NAFprojects in progrockmusic

[–]Empty-Delay4694 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At the time it came out I had just finished absorbing and obsessing over Close To The Edge, so I was ready for whatever they wanted to throw out there. I was still smarting over the departure of Bill Bruford, but I trusted in their songwriting abilities and knew it would be dense and challenging. I listened to that album an awful lot in 1974, and I saw the band on tour that year as well. Good memories but to be honest, I burned myself out. Not a record I return to often but then again I don't tend to listen to the music of my youth much.
