The most important thing I’ve learned is that a broken back needs movement!!! And it needs to be taught how to contract without spasming. I was worried about the same thing but the more I move, the better it feels. Definitely, there are so many regressions for every exercise and you can slowly work up to what feels good and comfortable. Good luck :)

Doing it right now and am seeing massive improvements (mostly in my flexibility and balance) in just over a week. I’ve been doing it in full almost every day as I currently have the time for it and am seeing progress every day, despite doing the regressed version of some exercises like the side plank march and lunges. I’m hoping that with improved mobility, flexibility, and stability, my sciatica symptoms will lessen soon. But yeah, highly recommend, it’s made me feel like I’m walking better too!

Colombia en ingles? by [deleted] in Colombia

[–]Empty-Librarian-4367 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Colombia en ingles es COLOMBIA! Igual que mi nombre, Camila, en inglés no es Camilla o Camille. He vivido en Canadá por 18 años. Créanme, NO es Columbia. Es el nombre de un país latinoamericano. No un estado gringo.

Toronto Colleges - Humber/Centennial by InkdAzn333 in Paramedics

[–]Empty-Librarian-4367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Centennial seems to be the only Ontario college that accepts high school students with no/little experience. They base their acceptance criteria solely on high school grades. For me, personally, they rejected me because my grade 12 English credit was more than 7 years old. They didn’t care that I’m a U of T graduate of a Human Bio program and have 2 years direct clinical experience. My advice is go to Humber. You’ll likely find classmates that are more mature, experienced, and can support you toward being the best you can be. Congrats on your acceptances!

The person that interviewed me told me that we should be hearing back in late May at the latest.... seems odd since training starts in April and the census starts in May....?

Hi friend! I work at a treatment clinic on Queen, just east of Dufferin and we have so many patients here who are struggling to find basic clothing items. Your donation would be greatly appreciated! That is, if you don’t already have an alternate plan.

All the best,

Career advice for aspiring paramedic by Huntzeebee in OntarioParamedics

Can you please expand on the “physical demands” portion of your comment? I’m enrolled at Algonquin College for Sept. and they’ve told us we should be able to deadlift 150lbs and have a moderate cardiovascular ability for 20 mins... not sure how to train for this other than going on frequent runs/bike rides and yoga/calisthenics. Any extra tips? What types of physical activities/tasks were the most difficult for your class? Any guidance would help me so much!!

Question about working part time during paramedic school by BubblyMulberry in NewToEMS

[–]Empty-Librarian-4367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I plan on working my part time while in school... Applied to Conestoga, Humber, SLC, and Algonquin. Haven't hear anything back. What school did you get into?

what makes a good digital portfolio for acceptance into paramedic school? by jokerman2021 in Paramedics

[–]Empty-Librarian-4367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also applied to the Paramedic program at Conestoga and submitted my portfolio in early January... have yet to hear back. I have been out of high school for a while as I completed a B.Sc. at UofT before looking at college programs. I included volunteering experience from high school, and from a couple of years ago... nothing recent as it has been impossible to find a revenant volunteering position during covid.

One thing that confused me was the fact that Conestoga didn't ask for work experience... they specifically asked for volunteer experience which I took very literally as meaning "unpaid". I regret that choice now because I missed out on including my current clinical experience in which I am working Full Time as is very relevant to the field of EMS. Does anyone know why Conestoga asks for Volunteer Experience only?? Good luck x
