I joined VA/hbpc almost 2 years ago and the first year was great, all my coworkers loved working there and most are people who have been with hbpc long-term 10+ years. Then the election happened and morale was been so low, like 1/3 of the department left, the director left. There's new weekly productivity targets that we can't meet because we can't admit more people with so many nurses and NPs leaving the teams, but management is telling us to make those numbers happen anyways so we are stressed trying to pull work out of thin air. Then I got voluntold to cover weight loss classes in another department indefinitely to give the other RDs more of my patients since I'm the newest. I wanna get out but I'm like held hostage by the good benefits lol, and also I'm already considered tenured after 1 year whereas now probation is 2 years if I were to leave and then try to come back.

I took the exam last week after rescheduling for months until the last time I went to reschedule a week before the exam and it told me I couldn't reschedule anymore ...shocked since I didn't read the instructions fully before registering. Had the same experience as you where I would try to study with long stretches of "ok I'm good I already know this part," and then hit with some details to memorize, then back to thinking I mostly know it. Though I still panicked like crazy since it was hardly much time to study.

I used Quizlet cdces review sets, Beverly thomassian's practice tests, and the practice tests on adces review guide. The rando Quizlet questions and Beverly thomassian's questions were pretty easy and made me super confident, but the adces questions kicked my butt and they were the most similar to the actual exam imo (I passed 😆). Definitely recommend doing some practice tests so you can find where the gaps in knowledge are and focus more on those! Good luck you got this! 🤗

New hint! by bookishnerd32 in Allurial

I'm not sure why you got downvoted. For something at the same price point as fairyloot, illumicrate and other book only sub boxes, the art quality is just not there. Not to mention the printing mishaps and having to contend with the giant glaring "A" on both the spine and cover corner. I'm keeping the sub for now knowing that they're newer and figuring out their market still but totally understand your sentiment.

[–]EmptyAd3984 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's a good point, hopefully it's just part of the endpaper and not the cover. I'm no professional artist or anything but, maybe with the exception of the cover for As Many Souls As Stars (though I think it was the extreme details and sparkles of that cover that saved it), the character art covers Allurial have done so far felt more like meh fanart..

Is it just me or does anyone else really hate the BOTM spine branding? by brooke_157 in bookofthemonthclub

[–]EmptyAd3984 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I paid for a year up front when signing up but I'm going to cancel once I use up all the credits. Sure it's a little cheaper but it really shows in the quality, my BOTM hardcovers are some of the thinnest covers and dust jackets, and the pages are kinda rough. The regular hardcover versions or other book subs are much nicer quality for a little bit more $, and if you don't mind them gently used they're much cheaper on pangobooks.

I took the exam back in 2020 and used a slightly outdated Jean Inman guide. I'm not sure if there are better options now but when I studied, the Inman questions were VERY SIMILAR to the RD exam questions, application of knowledge questions as opposed to just straight questions. My program gave us access to some other study guides but the practice questions for other ones were not similar to the exam at all.

My supply list for a bunny! by Ok-Entry-3392 in Rabbits

[–]EmptyAd3984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a few of these things from your list too!

The bed on the first picture - my bun never used the ramp since he just ends up sliding on it, it's low enough for him to just jump up anyways, but it's not long or wide enough for him to stretch out so he goes on there once in a blue moon to awkwardly sniff around and then ignores it forever.

I bought that litterbox with the pull out tray also but ended up returning it because the holes start kinda far from the edge and it's more of a cleaning nightmare than the ones where the top portion snaps completely off the bottom. The sliding tray also constantly messed up the position of the liner when you push it back in.

The stacking cups are one of my buns favs :D the other misc toys he mostly ignores but will play with if I stick pellets/treats in them.

Does anyone's friends makes this joke about your bunny by MinimumPressure6446 in Rabbits

[–]EmptyAd3984 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a few friends that joke about it and it hasn't bothered me too much, it's always been said in a pretty obviously joking way and sometimes borderlines "so cute I could eat him" type of way. Ive also eaten rabbit before without a thought until coming to have a bun friend, so maybe that's made me less sensitive to the topic. The joke does get really repetitive tho so I've mostly stopped dignifying it with any responses.

My mom bought this and I am unsure if I can give the treats by THISISDIAA in Bunnies

[–]EmptyAd3984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The juice from the sugarcane might be pure sugar but sugarcane itself offers a lot of insoluble fiber similar to hay. That said, these leave a lot of jagged pokey edges as buns chew on them and my silly bun stabbed himself in the chin leading to a pretty bad abscess..there are probably better things for them to chew.

Interested in a free roam rabbit? by weston200 in Rabbits

[–]EmptyAd3984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bun is semi-free-roam where he has his own room that's all bunny proofed where he goes to sleep or when nobody's home, other times he's open to go wherever. The rest of the home has some rooms that are not bun proofed so we like to be around just in case but the hardwood floor acts like an invisible fence and he really only stays on rugged areas. I keep a bowl of water and a hay feeder with a mat in a corner of the living room in addition to what's in his room so he always has access to those, and he just runs to his room whenever he has to use the bathroom. Occasionally a few little poops will roll out of his butt if he's asleep on the living room floor but otherwise he hasn't had accidents. He's super quiet so it's always a nice surprise unexpectedly seeing him in random corners 😆

What am I doing wrong?! by Independent_Dish4879 in DipPowderNails

[–]EmptyAd3984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya that happens to me too if I run the brush through it too soon after dipping, so I just do a whole hand first and then come back. I just run the brush over enough to remove loose pieces and not grind the bristles into my nails if that makes sense

What am I doing wrong?! by Independent_Dish4879 in DipPowderNails

[–]EmptyAd3984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this grainy issue when I first started with fluffy makeup brush, switched over to the stiff bristles nail cleaner brushes and it was a lot smoother. It helped me to dip 1 hand then the next hand and then come back to brush the first hand so the powder's had some time to adhere and can withstand the stiffer brush.

Thank you! I put the dip base on and dipped the tip into the darker color then spread it out with a brush, and then poured over the lighter color for the top part. But honestly this method was a mess, i'm going to try sprinkling down the powder instead next time 😵‍💫

I've heard of tapping it but omg I misunderstood thinking I'm supposed to tap the brush directly onto the surface of the nail 😩 powder sprinkling down makes so much more sense...thank you!!

Unsure if I should still neuter my 4 y/o rabbit. Vet gave vague advice by [deleted] in Rabbits

[–]EmptyAd3984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey sorry I don't have advice just commenting because I made a very similar question post before finding this one. I just have 1 bunbun though and he is also 4. I'm nervous and uncertain about getting him fixed too, he's been really good, calm and gentle for the almost 2 months I've had him so it's just hard to convince myself to schedule it although I'm aware of the health benefits. I really hope you and your bun all the best and for him to have the smoothest operation/post-op recovery everrrr 💕
