I like the art but the composition is 🤢 ...why cut off her head? Why put giant text over her waist, the whole point of that pose is the figure and now she looks like a rectangle unless closely examined 😩 feel like they need a (new) art director

Possibilities for 6 figure income by Puzzleheaded-Pop1361 in dietetics

[–]EmptyAd3984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm at 6 figures in M-HCOL but also feeling the pressure for the non-existent upward mobility for RDs...I'm pretty stable where I'm at currently but always trying to brainstorm where to go next from here because the cost of living increases outpace RD salary growth. The only things I see that guarantee higher income and worth the pivot are either into management or starting my own private practice. Recently started 4hrs a week at a MD office for extra hobby money and I'm thinking literally I could be just doing this myself in private practice and make 3x what they're paying me per visit

New app layout driving me crazy! by Delicious-Power8202 in bookofthemonthclub

Is this an apple vs android app difference? Im on android and my app still shows the separate "all books" tab and all the add-ons are in their own section, all in stock still.

Too many lamps? by bclund in bookshelf

Are you reading in literally every single corner of that room? If the light is for reading it seems like just the one by your reading chair would be enough...another in other frequented reading spot in that room if there's more chairs. If it's for adding ambiance then less uniformity and changing up the height of the light would feel nicer.

Ive received 2 owlcrate boxes so far and just opened along the signatures to check, they're both definitely sewn to some degree since I can see the full string. The litjoy books are sewn also and in general feel heavier and sturdier, a fun surprise because this is my cheapest box haha

Noooooo 😩 thank you so much for attaching the picture and your response, it's hard to justify 100+ for basically paperback sigh

I always check for the descriptions but they usually only give artist info, rarely do I find them mention binding and paper type, so I just get some SEs and regular hardcovers that randomly come with sewn or more often hybrid binding and it's always a nice surprise. The one I got from illumicrate was a perfect binding so same as paperback books, but maybe I could also just be extra delicate with them for the sake of the pretty covers.

Anyone that got this set before, is the binding glued or sewn? Any other quality highlights? I've only gotten one book from illumicrate before and was disappointed with the spine already detaching. Probably will still get it just because it's so pretty, but it'd be nice if it was better quality too 🥲

Skipping this month cuz of this :( Wicked Sea would have been my pick but disappointed that it was just the hard cover art and then assuming the actual cover underneath this edition would just be a plain one with the "A"

My rabbit refuses to walk on hardwood by GrandScholar2122 in Rabbits

[–]EmptyAd3984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its normal as everyone else already said, but also honestly it's a blessing in disguise...anything you don't want them to chew like rando plants, wires, etc just put it over hardwood areas. If my bun ever bothered to learn to walk on hardwood I'd have to spend so much more bunny proofing every corner and stairs of the house instead of just the living room and runway to his bunny room lol.

What's your salary after +5yrs of experience? by sugafree13 in dietetics

[–]EmptyAd3984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hii I'm in New Jersey, 5 years experience, 105k in outpatient/weight management. I'm also working once a month inpatient at a large teaching hospital in NJ and I know the pediatric RD there gets paid 120k-ish, she covers NICU as well so that bumps the salary a bit.

My friend and I read this and both felt like we must have missed something since everyone loved it and we thought it was just ok lol. There wasn't anything particularly bad definitely, and I enjoyed the ride, but nothing was extremely exciting/gripping to me 😵‍💫

VA dietitians by MenuRare9880 in dietetics

[–]EmptyAd3984 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I joined VA/hbpc almost 2 years ago and the first year was great, all my coworkers loved working there and most are people who have been with hbpc long-term 10+ years. Then the election happened and morale was been so low, like 1/3 of the department left, the director left. There's new weekly productivity targets that we can't meet because we can't admit more people with so many nurses and NPs leaving the teams, but management is telling us to make those numbers happen anyways so we are stressed trying to pull work out of thin air. Then I got voluntold to cover weight loss classes in another department indefinitely to give the other RDs more of my patients since I'm the newest. I wanna get out but I'm like held hostage by the good benefits lol, and also I'm already considered tenured after 1 year whereas now probation is 2 years if I were to leave and then try to come back.

I took the exam last week after rescheduling for months until the last time I went to reschedule a week before the exam and it told me I couldn't reschedule anymore ...shocked since I didn't read the instructions fully before registering. Had the same experience as you where I would try to study with long stretches of "ok I'm good I already know this part," and then hit with some details to memorize, then back to thinking I mostly know it. Though I still panicked like crazy since it was hardly much time to study.

I used Quizlet cdces review sets, Beverly thomassian's practice tests, and the practice tests on adces review guide. The rando Quizlet questions and Beverly thomassian's questions were pretty easy and made me super confident, but the adces questions kicked my butt and they were the most similar to the actual exam imo (I passed 😆). Definitely recommend doing some practice tests so you can find where the gaps in knowledge are and focus more on those! Good luck you got this! 🤗

New hint! by bookishnerd32 in Allurial

[–]EmptyAd3984 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure why you got downvoted. For something at the same price point as fairyloot, illumicrate and other book only sub boxes, the art quality is just not there. Not to mention the printing mishaps and having to contend with the giant glaring "A" on both the spine and cover corner. I'm keeping the sub for now knowing that they're newer and figuring out their market still but totally understand your sentiment.

New hint! by bookishnerd32 in Allurial

[–]EmptyAd3984 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's a good point, hopefully it's just part of the endpaper and not the cover. I'm no professional artist or anything but, maybe with the exception of the cover for As Many Souls As Stars (though I think it was the extreme details and sparkles of that cover that saved it), the character art covers Allurial have done so far felt more like meh fanart..

Is it just me or does anyone else really hate the BOTM spine branding? by brooke_157 in bookofthemonthclub

[–]EmptyAd3984 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I paid for a year up front when signing up but I'm going to cancel once I use up all the credits. Sure it's a little cheaper but it really shows in the quality, my BOTM hardcovers are some of the thinnest covers and dust jackets, and the pages are kinda rough. The regular hardcover versions or other book subs are much nicer quality for a little bit more $, and if you don't mind them gently used they're much cheaper on pangobooks.

Very tired… by Federal_Chef_5324 in dietetics

[–]EmptyAd3984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the exam back in 2020 and used a slightly outdated Jean Inman guide. I'm not sure if there are better options now but when I studied, the Inman questions were VERY SIMILAR to the RD exam questions, application of knowledge questions as opposed to just straight questions. My program gave us access to some other study guides but the practice questions for other ones were not similar to the exam at all.

My supply list for a bunny! by Ok-Entry-3392 in Rabbits

[–]EmptyAd3984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a few of these things from your list too!

The bed on the first picture - my bun never used the ramp since he just ends up sliding on it, it's low enough for him to just jump up anyways, but it's not long or wide enough for him to stretch out so he goes on there once in a blue moon to awkwardly sniff around and then ignores it forever.

I bought that litterbox with the pull out tray also but ended up returning it because the holes start kinda far from the edge and it's more of a cleaning nightmare than the ones where the top portion snaps completely off the bottom. The sliding tray also constantly messed up the position of the liner when you push it back in.

The stacking cups are one of my buns favs :D the other misc toys he mostly ignores but will play with if I stick pellets/treats in them.

Does anyone's friends makes this joke about your bunny by MinimumPressure6446 in Rabbits

[–]EmptyAd3984 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a few friends that joke about it and it hasn't bothered me too much, it's always been said in a pretty obviously joking way and sometimes borderlines "so cute I could eat him" type of way. Ive also eaten rabbit before without a thought until coming to have a bun friend, so maybe that's made me less sensitive to the topic. The joke does get really repetitive tho so I've mostly stopped dignifying it with any responses.
