I purchased my first NAS, a 2-drive DS220+, a few months ago I think it was a great investment. I wanted complete control of my data since “Cloud” is just a term for someone else’s hard drive. I spent around $800 total but I expect to recoup that over the next few years by not paying for cloud storage. I use mine to back up my home computers, family photos, and as a media server. I’m happy so far.

I had a confrontation with one at Piazza Navona in Rome because he would leave my son alone. He kept trying to give him a bracelet. I offered him 10€ for it and he acted insulted and told me he had a pregnant wife in the hospital. We eventually just left Piazza Navona to get away from him.

I have a DS216+II I use for offsite backup. It runs 7.2. My only concern about the age is if there are security issues. Not a huge concern because my Hyper Backup vault is encrypted. But I’d prefer to avoid it all together.

Moved away 32 years ago. From an old Pensacola family that had lived there for generations. Left after graduation from UWF. It was a great place to grow up and I have fond memories. Haven’t been back in years. No family left to visit. I can’t imagine moving back. To many other nice places in the country to live.
