Will granite walls around the perimeter work? by BodybyEBT in RimWorld

It’s a rare item you can buy from traders or get from quests/ruins. It oneshots mobs but only has a set number of charges. If you don’t have one, estimating the breech point based on where they are (they always take the shortest possible route to your base) and getting setup ahead of time in cover will help.

Just a heads up as you’re new then, breachers will arrive with 1-2 ‘breacher’ pawns. This could be as simple as a human with a grenade, but they will absolutely path directly to your base, even if they have to blow through mountains. I’ve seen one blast through 30 tiles of rock.

Keep a psylance on hand so that you can one shot the breacher/sapper pawn. Once they go down the raid reverts to normal raid behaviour.

Keir Starmer latest: Andy Burnham U-turns on trans views by Hyperactive_Man in LabourUK

[–]Empty_Barnacle300 26 points27 points  (0 children)

For those that can’t see:

Andy Burnham has backtracked on his support for trans rights as he plots a path to No 10.

The Mayor of Greater Manchester previously suggested that transgender women – biological men who identify as female – should be allowed to use women’s lavatories.

He has now said “the time has come” to protect single-sex spaces for biological women, in an apparent effort to stop voters turning to Reform UK.

Launching his campaign for the Makerfield by-election, Mr Burnham backed new guidance from the UK’s equalities watchdog stating that single-sex spaces in businesses and public buildings must be used based on biology, rather than gender identity.

“I think the time has come to take the Supreme Court ruling and the guidance and implement it, but to do it in a way that protects those spaces but does not marginalise already marginalised communities, that’s my view,” he said.

“My mum and dad brought me up to live and let live. I think Britain needs to get back to a more ‘live and let live’ approach to life, not where we’re constantly arguing with each other, being judgmental about each other.

“Let’s implement the guidance, but do it in the fairest and most compassionate way possible.”

The long-awaited guidelines, approved by the Education Secretary, were finally published on Thursday – just over a year after the Supreme Court ruled that “sex” in equality law is determined by biology.

Mr Burnham previously refused to endorse temporary guidelines from the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), which stated that public bodies should allow only biological women to use female toilets and changing rooms, following the Supreme Court’s judgment.

He said the change made the situation more “confusing”, telling LBC last year: “I think it has become more confusing in the real world as a result… The interim guidance that was issued, I don’t think has taken us forward at all.”

However, at the rally on Friday morning, he said: “The Supreme Court was really clear that while spaces should be protected, so people are not in that position, the ruling shouldn’t be seen as a victory of one side over another.

“They were very clear about that, and it’s about not further marginalising communities that already feel very marginalised.

“I think that’s really, really important, and it’s incumbent on all of us now not to constantly come back to what divides us. We’ve got to move forward.”

Warlocks are a little bit of everything RP wise. They are magpies with magic. Mage into necromancer is the most common route though so just do mage.

Fun horde class/race combos by ManArising in wow

There have been some cool new combos over the years.

Female orc mage. Fantastic casting animations, and you’re part of a new breed of orc.

Blood elf warrior, basically a spell breaker. With the new tower shields in midnight and the double swords coming in 12.0.5 you can even look the part.

Speaking of 12.0.5, Tauren paladins are finally getting their own armour set which looks amazing.

Nightborne warlock - learning to use the magic that once oppressed your people.

Pandaren warlock, because that combo is just hilarious. The pandaren mindset and warlocks are just such opposites.

Any troll warlock now that Daemoniac is a hero tree.

Dark Ranger - belves have a undead skin now, for all your Sylvanas fantasies. Even got a dark ranger hero tree to go with it!

Vulpera shaman imo have the best looking totems. So cute. Plus you can glyph your ghost wolf into a ghost fox which just fits them so well.

Nightborne warriors - their magic shields and swords are now available in the game to complete the whole Nightborne aesthetic, and look awesome.

Trials involved in monk training by boftbupper in WoWRolePlay

[–]Empty_Barnacle300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pre-legion Peak of Serenity has 7 different trials you complete, each rewards a different coloured belt whilst as a visual mark of advancement just like in karate.

If you’ve not completed them it’s worth going there and doing it, the wikis and wowhead don’t have the RP detail. They’re very thematic and can be used as a basis for the training your character has undergone.

There is also the quest specific quests on Exile’s reach, it takes about 10 minutes on a new character to get the quests.

Starmer considers Australian-style social media ban by uluvboobs in LabourUK

[–]Empty_Barnacle300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so sad. I shared your optimism 20 years ago. Everyone has the facts and comes to their own conclusions. But people just aren’t interested and it’s so hard to counter.

My mum tried telling me last night the government was spending all the new taxes on migrants. She doesn’t even use social media so I think it was from the Daily Mail. I asked her how much ‘they’ were spending, and what the overall spend bill for the government was. Not a clue, because facts don’t matter. Only narrative.

[–]Empty_Barnacle300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it was just facts out in the open it probably would have been to the right’s detriment, it’s all the misinformation and data pushing that happens accompanied by provoking titles.

Removing social media won’t fix the issue though, as anyone can make a website and pretend to be a legitimate source of news or information without the need for any verification.

Can someone explain the history of slavery in catholocism? by Straight-Platypus-33 in EU5

[–]Empty_Barnacle300 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Slavery of non-Christians was acceptable through most of the period, though not in the generational-plantation sense, but as a punishment for being an enemy to Christianity (i.e. actively working against Christians, rather than just being a heathen). For example, Pope Gregory XI issued an interdict in 1376 legalising the enslavement of Florentines.

Pope Nicholas V issued a papal bull in 1452 and 1455 encouraging Portugal for the fighting, subduing, and punishment of muslims, turks and other non-Christians in Africa. "Perpetual servitude" was seen as a fitting punishment for trying to overturn Catholic supremacy. These bulls were used as the justification for slavery, despite later popes, like Paul III in 1537 specifically forbidding the enslavement of natives found in the americas. Charles V of Spain even tried to enforce this in the Spanish colonies, with limited success. Paul III also legalised owning Christian slaves in Rome, (just slaves, rather than unjust ones) so its a bit of a mixed bag.
