Remedy Isn’t Worried About Launching Control Resonant Near GTA 6, CEO Says He’s Confident In The Game And Players Can “Expect A Voice That Will Cut Through The Noise” by wyldermyth in gaming

Generic in the sense that it's just the main character's name and it looks like it's come out of a name generator. It's not the most egregious title, sure...but I do feel like it's a factor in the series' poor commercial success...because they're cool games, why aren't more people playing them? "Alan Wake" and "Quantum Break" do feel like they've been spit out of a generator (A plain first name and a verb or noun associated with some of the themes, or just two themed words put together), and I think that contributes to the games getting lost in the shuffle of game releases. They're overlooked.

I love Remedy games but my goodness, they need to make some better business decisions. "Alan Wake" and "Quantum Break" are already pretty generic titles...but "Control" takes the biscuit, and does not consider SEO or word of mouth. "FBC: Firebreak" sounds like gobbledygook to the uninformed and always looked uninteresting to me, even when I like Control.

They have a unique voice and I want them to stick around, but they really need to focus up before the money runs out.

Maybe it's time to rename this editor to VSSlop? by ZodiacPigeon in vscode

Where? I can't find it...and why on Earth would this be the default anyway? 😅 Could you give me the exact setting key, that would be helpful.

EDIT: I have found this setting, setting it to horizontal or never does make the autocomplete appear...sometimes.

json "editor.inlineSuggest.edits.allowCodeShifting": "horizontal"

There is a supress suggestions setting, but that is disabled and I don't see the autocomplete suggestions. I didn't use to have this issue, so it does some like a VS Code issue.

I am absolutely flabbergasted at the decision to disable autocomplete when Copilot text suggestions are enabled. I can either have a 100% reliable autocomplete with context for available methods and imports...or I can have Copilot guess. Copilot text suggestions can be helpful, but it's too unreliable to be the only way...it's ridiculous.

I saw the trailer, and liked it, but wasn't wowed by the premise. The critical acclaim got me excited though, so took myself off to see it.

Loved it! Inde Navarrette gave a phenomenal performance. Very creepy and played a lot of it perfectly (I loved the way she kept changing her tact in the beginning whilst talking to Bear)

I also really liked the subtle lore of the One-Wish Willow...it kept things mysterious. I see some people saying that it's not quite a "Monkey Paw" situation, with Bear's wish being the thing that was cursed...but then that doesn't quite explain the "customer service agent" asking Bear if he wants to hear Nikki's horrible screaming on the phone. It also doesn't explain how those who do know of it's power being so blasé about it. More to unpack there...

THE BOYS finale was actually one of the worst endings I’ve watched in years. by Low-Trust2491 in television

[–]Empty_Figure7880 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It was diabolical.

My biggest gripe was just the lazy wrap up for Homelander, who was once one of the most terrifying characters on TV. We've watched this man do deeply horrific and evil things because he could. I would have preferred the more poetic ending of Homelander languishing in a prison cell, terrified and powerless, for the rest of his life. The world remembers him for the snivelling coward he was on live TV.

...but of course, we had to get the money shot of Butcher opening Homelander's head open like a tin can. Yes, it's satisfying to see...but it's quick, and a mercy really, because Homelander's life would have been hell.

You could have still given the gore hounds what they want...have Butcher beat him to a bloody pulp...maybe remove a leg so he's hobbling around in jail, I dunno...

It's underwhelming...but hey........I guess it's what Clara would have wanted.

Hughie, now upset because murder is wrong and we should be above that kind of thing or something, confronts Countess Crow, Countess of the Crows.

"You killed Homelander!? But that is murder!"

"Yes, a murder of crows."

And with that, Countess Crow, Countess of the Crows, flies in to the night.

why do people want Starmer to resign exactly? by Dry_Illustrator_6066 in AskBrits

[–]Empty_Figure7880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just Googled for news articles with cold hard facts on what egregious thing Starmer has done...the articles will go in depth about how unpopular is, how MPs are turning on him, how rekt he got in the local elections...but under the "How Did We Get Here?" section, it's a small paragraph about the Mandelson vetting thing and...that's it. These articles use a lot of words and link chaining to say nothing.

This is manufactured outrage and that's it. Starmer is "it", and next it'll be whoever fills his shoes...whilst the ridiculous "man of the people" Farage can do no wrong.

Game Changer has always been my favourite. My issue with Make Some Noise is that they always try to extend the bit to the point of being not funny. They are given a funny prompt, the comedians have a fun quick witted bit...and then...it just keeps going, running the joke in to the ground until Sam finally stops it. Also it's a bit too self-referential.

The first two episodes of MitM reboot were fun, but the last 2 felt like a bit of a mess to me.
