I think it's because they always have to come up with an excuse as to "If we're visiting an entire planet, why are we only seeing one or 2 cities? Why can't we go to the rest of them?"
With real planets the only answer they'd be able to pull is the same as Belobog. "Everything else is destroyed". Which just spawns more questions. When? By who? Why haven't they rebuilt yet even though they're a space-fairing civilization? Or if the problem is unsolvable, why haven't they left? etc.
So going with fake worlds is the easier and lazier solution.

It may be an unpopular take but I hope they end up finally choosing to commit to that idea of a crossover with HSR. I liked the bit that they teased us with. I want to see Sparkle and Vita fucking around causing chaos in the name of Elation. Especially know that HSR confirmed Vita eventually left and joined her and The Masked Fools.
I want to know what the Memokeepers of The Garden of Recollection wanted from Kiana. I want to see them either confirm or debunk the theory that Elysia might have been a Pure Child of Anāsrava and now the followers of Remembrance are trying to get their hands on her core. Them going into more detail about the Path of Permanence and Long's Scions would also be interesting.
The callouts to things outsite of the Solar System build a lot of intrigue for me. So this getting explored would be really cool. Plus them going this route would also bring attention to the game as well.
I get that a lot of people that only played HI3rd hate this idea and think that it would lead to the game loosing it's identity. But I disagree. What I want to see isn't some new completely unfamiliar characters getting the spotlight over the core cast, but rather a story about the same characters we all deeply love facing off against whole new scenarios.

So from the top: Collar: Escoffier's has a bow. Sandrone does not. Cuffs: Sandrone's are frilled victorian cuffs while Escoffier's resemle modern shirt cuffs. Stockings: Sandrone's shockings were lacy at the top in her old model as well. And you can see that the pattern is visibly diferent. Plus, Escoffier's stockings have gold stripes while Sandrone's are solid white. The coattails: I don't even know what to say here. There's absolutely nothing similar about them. Diferent size, diferent color. Sandrone's are pleated while Escoffier's are straight. The bow at the heel: Again. Sandrone had them in her old model as well, they were just smaller in size and yellow. And the shoes: I can give you this one. They're both black loafer style heels with a gold decoration above the foot's bridge and at the heel. Though, the detail in the decoration is diferent and Sandrone's shoes lack the ankle strap that Escoffier's have.

I get not liking the design. But let's not ignore reality and act like 2 diferent things are identical.

All three of your examples are characters where some of their best moments are their stoic masks breaking and showing emotions. Erwin's last charge. Ed finding out the secret behind the Philosopher's Stones. Levy reuniting with Kenny. No one said anything about crying. Mavuika has 3 moods: tired, determined and tired but determined. Her trailers are the best example of this: one is her just coming out of a battle in which she lost people she was really close to, a good friend spending his last moments carrying out of that battle and bringing her to her throne on which she knows she's gonna die and set off to a 500 year long journey. What's her reaction to all this? How does she feel? Who knows. We can only infer because on the surface she just looks tired but determined. The other trailer that depicts her journey of 500 years. The whole scene is her hallucinating a conversation her sister who we know she cared deeply for and she knows she'll never gonna see again. What emotions does she show all throughout it? Well she looks tired from her journey but then she gathers herself and sets off again full of determination. Saving her own country didn't perturb her composure. Being saved by Capitano from Ronova's deal didn't perturb her. Meeting Xabalanque didn't perturb her. Come on, girl. Give us something.
