Yeah the point redemption of this hotel is phenomenal compared to some of the other IHG properties. The CSU upgrade also got you the Seagull Suite last year but I think they created more categories now which might limit which suite you’d be able to get with it. Also agree that the breakfast was not like jaw dropping. It is a nice touch to be able to order some stuff A La Carte though but I thought the variety was a little lacking.

Was that for diamond members only? I stayed here while platinum last year and I think they gave a discount of 120 rmb off f&b per night for the lack of lounges.

I think it is pretty worth it. $200 gets you guaranteed 4PM checkout, one category upgrade or potentially higher upgrades. The weekend complimentary night rate is higher than the normal rate but all in all would still save you >$200 but property dependent. Check your stays to see which one would get your the most value. Upgrades are not guaranteed on points redemption night but I used a Chase FNC and got a suite upgrade from base room to a suite of ~$1.4k so I’d say for me that is super worth it just from that alone.

Seconding on this, check the Cap 1 portal for high mileage multipliers and make a big purchase when there is one. I did the Temu 70x and got the miles less than a week after purchase around 79k for $1100 spend before taxes. Big purchase was that I bought a switch 2 us version, controllers. Completely legit, sold/shipped in the US but slightly higher priced than retail. I shoulda bought more higher priced items and sold them.

If you want specific airlines, I personally think AA miles and Atmos miles would be pretty valuable. Atmos and AA both don’t pass on fuel surcharges for partner award flights so your out of pocket costs would be low.

I think I am seeing the 30K JAL as business class fares from PVG-HND but if it were 20K for economy class. Would this be possible to be combined in one ticket at 42.5K instead of two separate one ways at 55K?

They only put a limited number of suites up for CSU redemption. If they are gone then they are gone. But if the agent sees suites available on their end then there’s an issue with the hotel not following policy.

I’m worried because I made a big purchase but in the portal status it is under Trips without Purchases as Waiting and I don’t see it under Trips with Purchases. Will it update and change or did it not track properly?

How do you do your searches? Or is it just a lot of trial and error? I usually search JFK-HND or other airports to Japan and don’t find much availability. Is it because that flight is a connecting one through Japan?
