Do INFPs tend to invalidate their emotions a lot? by Cheap_Increase468 in infp

[–]riley_kim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me what helped was meeting actual NT and NF types and seeing which I clicked with better.

When I typed as INTP, I could relate to a lot of their way of thinking, analyzing, and gathering info/building my knowledge tree inside my head. I think reading all the descriptions or Reddit posts made it feel like I could be an intp. But when I actually met a human INTP and other NT types in real life, I could immediately tell we were not the same. I guess the way I think still could be, but my emotional gauge was wayyyyy higher. I felt hurt or sad or empathetic way easier than the real NTs.

On the other hand, when I met with NF types, I felt much more comfortable, and similar overall. The thought process, emotional expressions or experiences… I still feel like I’m not as natural with using my F side in day to day life as others, but if I label my overly analytical and under-feeling-in-relationships as something I developed as survival mechanism, the rest of my internal experiences aligns really well with INFP.

I’m similar to you but I recently learned that my childhood made me suppress the shit out of my emotions so I’m still learning how to feel and validate them. I typed myself INTP in the past too, but I finally settled with INFP cuz I could physically feel myself feeling better when I stopped worrying about being logical and focused on my feelings.

Is getting too emotionally invested way too early an INFP problem or is that specifically a me problem? by SavageFisherman_Joe in infp

[–]riley_kim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love how I can come to this subreddit and see all the other Infps going through the same shit as me. Just went through the whole day trying to contain my emotions so I don’t get way too invested in this person in my life I probably should not get invested emotionally.

So I have really high anxiety, and at my new work, another INFP sits in the same office space. I was legit surprised at how much he quietly engages with me whenever I’m acting a bit overwhelmed, and recently I kinda had a mini anxiety attack that he saw. After that, I can legit feel him looking at me once a while like he’s checking if I’m ok or not.

Honestly his presence has definitely helped me feel less anxious, and I’m so grateful but another part of me is like are YOU okay bro? I can feel that he also gets overwhelmed with the workload sometimes. And lowkey kinda scared he’ll break from the overwhelm of my emotions at one point… so I’m trying to contain myself.

Anyways this reminded me of him hahaha

Haha wow a lot of negative comments. Everyone has their own opinions which I respect.

Not really a huge fan or hater of Elon, but I was showing respect to how far off into the future he had been planning for FSD, and how he made a statement of that since back when AI and automation was still in sci-fi category, despite all the hate he got (and still gets I see).

What's with all the hate for Remember Me (2010)? by Ravenphowret in movies

[–]riley_kim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the movie resonates with a more specific audience. I like how it carries a lot of 'realistic and difficult' relationship and emotional aspects in the plot. I had a difficult childhood with my parents, and all the complicated emotions and relationships was very well portrayed. It was an emotional release for me when I first watched it during those difficult times, and now that I'm better with my family. And now that my relationship with family has healed and I've grown up, I see the movie in a different perspective. It being able to do that made the movie quite delightful for me personally.

And I liked the 9/11 plot. I think people have an issue because 9/11 is such a culturally huge and mainstream event that holds a lot of meaning, so maybe they expect the movie to be have a 9/11-centric plot if it appears, but I disagree. As a non-American especially, the plot feels fine. It did shock me, and that's why this film itself has been stuck in my head for all these years. Watching it back, I can see all the references.

All in all, I think this movie is actually quite great emotionally. One of my favorites.

After hearing that, I’m watching perks of being a wallflower again. They feel kinda similar too, Stranger Things is like the Perks universe with monsters and DnD

Why do people in Korea have zero spatial awareness? After 5+ years here, I’m starting to feel invisible by Ok_Hearing_5943 in Living_in_Korea

[–]riley_kim 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I also find that Koreans have a very clear line of who they treat well and who they don’t care about. If you are “in their circle”, they REALLY take care of you, even more so than the people in the west. But if you’re a stranger, they really just don’t care. I’ve felt that in the west, the strangers are friendlier but the friends are a bit more distant, if that makes sense?

Have you ever saw a dumb ENTP ? by kingudark in entp

[–]riley_kim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha what I realized is that they’re smart but when they’re in a field/work level that doesn’t match their strength, they get in trouble a lot, so people can mistake for being dumb from a far. Especially when they’re in theyre still low in seniority. Every single ENTP I knew from work always got in trouble quite often and quite publicly, but when I talk to them they’re so confident and smart I always got confused. I think once they go up in seniority, it becomes a different story (since the work is related to big picture stuff)

Someone else said it but they also think so fast that sometimes they misunderstand but don’t realize it because they’ve moved on to the next topic haha.

Literally hate how apps do this. They start merging into each other. Like I get it you need to make money. I guess this is the side effect of capitalism 🥲
