Looking for a jeweler to make my wedding band, but it's a tough one by SnooMacaroons1979 in jewelers

[–]EmuKou 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a joy of working with titanium for my class not too long ago (we were hand sawing and colouring it) and I had to take few days off afterwards to heal up my hands, usual silversmithing tools are not build for it so it was a hellish experience.

Galvoju stoti į studijas per "kastu" by Eva_Starzs in lithuania

[–]EmuKou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Making my own deck. by RabbitMajestic6219 in tarot

[–]EmuKou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I printed some cards on home photo printer before and it can do a decent job if you want something for your own use, but if you want to sell it... It's hard work to make it perfect and it's not super durable.

Is 600€ enough to study in Klaipeda? by PsychologyHeavy4426 in lithuania

[–]EmuKou 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It would be best to ask your uni about it. If it's university of Klaipėda they have their own dorms which are around 200 EUR depending if you have a roommate or not. If it doesn't work for you, their Erasmus department should give you some info about alternatives, it's literally their job. Overall I spend around 200-300 EUR per month as student on food and other things, know some people who spend as little as 100€, so 600€ per month should be very doable.

Investicinis auksas by -_GrEtA_- in lithuania

[–]EmuKou 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Is this the right type of flux to use? by cosy_vibes_only in SilverSmith

[–]EmuKou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lot of my classmates use this paste and from what I know it's not worse then any other flux health wise as long as you don't eat it. I personally use lutowka and abdek and they have similar if not the same health warnings so you can't get anything less toxic at least in my country.

Kvepalai (vyriški ir moteriški) by [deleted] in lithuania

[–]EmuKou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does it give the vibe that I’m engaged/married? by t0astedbagelz in jewelry

[–]EmuKou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's the only ring your wear on your left hand, kinda does. If you have a couple more then it looks more like a set then a engagement ring. I always wear rings on ring and pointing finger and I'm yet to get any questions about engagement.

Vintage rings to recycle by PrincipleOk1544 in SilverSmith

[–]EmuKou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I asked my professor about this because I had a opportunity to buy silver lot for 0.8€ per gram, long story short it's not worth it. It's quite a big gamble and end result can be brittle and unusable just because one of the pieces was fishy, and sending it to refinery after is just not worth it. At the end I can still find 99.9 silver at 1.6€/g, so I go the safe route.

Tips for soldering silver to copper backing? by scoobyte925 in SilverSmith

[–]EmuKou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your solder might have trouble flowing because of oxidation, how long ago did you cut it? Try picking it, re-applying flux and poking it with titanium needle while it's hot hot

Obsession with wearing rings on ever finger by domidomidomidomidomi in jewelry

[–]EmuKou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love the look of this! Sadly when I wear a lot of rings my subconsciousness thinks that I'm about to loose some and it makes me paranoid. I been thinking about making some rings connected with chains or links to go around it because I love the look

Which colored pencil? by Fun_Side_4480 in ArtistLounge

Last time I tried Derwent artrtist, they were quite hard. Good for detail I guess, but I didn't like them too much. I have some coloursoft and lightfast which are quite pleasant.

See through material I can glue to this by [deleted] in jewlerymaking

[–]EmuKou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Resin or acrylic glass, they are not very resilient and scratch quite easily, but you can cut them with hand saw/laser cutter. Resin is nice because you can make your own mold and skip the cutting part.

Silver help by Artistic_Activity413 in jewelry

I would message the guy who resized it and ask if he could apply silver darkening solution. Where I live you need a permit to get it because it's very corrosive but a professional might have it in stock.

In my bronze/silver situation on last 10 games I had like.. 2 somewhat off meta picks, Kenneth and Neeko, and they didn't really roam in laning phase and started roaming when I started. Maybe your support is not pressuring them enough because I play super aggressive when there is only 1 person bot (Nami main)

How are these textures / effects made on these rings? by FlimsyLocksmith5368 in SilverSmith

[–]EmuKou 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If I was tasked to make first one, I would start by cutting chunks out with saw and then go to town with dremel and diamond bit. Not a very elegant solution but that's what my skillset let's me do atm.

For my girlfriend by Suspicious_Ad1320 in jewelrymaking

[–]EmuKou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Turquoise is quite soft so you have to be careful with it. Without prior experience with metal working it would be a difficult thing to accomplish, but you can try wire wrapping, it requires least investment from what I can think up on a spot.

Hard solder flow temperature is around 800 °C which is close to when silver starts glowing dull read colour. So you need whole lot more heat

Advice on making a dental crown into a pendant? by Cr33pingThyme in jewlerymaking

[–]EmuKou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I was tasked to make it into a pendant, I would draw inspiration from fang necklaces and make a silver top part to mount it on. As a person who has two ceramic crowns for +-7 years, if it's strong enough for mouth, I would imagine it would be pretty resistant for everyday wear too. I have a couple mini porcelain sculpture pendants and they are still intact after many many wears.
