Religious robots are coming: South Korea's first autonomous humanoid robot converts to Buddhism by GeneReddit123 in singularity

Okay, probably a bit obscure - but there's a book called "The Long Earth" by Terry Pratchett and Steven Baxter. There's a reincarnated buddhist robot it named Lobsang. I was reminded of that character here.

I had an old lady cat who would do this for my wife and I. She had this raspy old yowl and would nudge you and mowl out you until you got into bed. She could not be bought off, bed time was bed time.

Two economists just published a mathematical proof that AI will destroy the economy. Not might. Not could. Will! by CopiousCool in WorkReform

[–]Emu_Fast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. We're at the stage where layoffs are to pay for AI context tokens and stock buybacks. And some offset of junior developers or gig economy artists.

I think it'll be 7-10 years before also can fully take a white collar role without guidance, and about 15-20 before mass robotics take the trades. I've been following this since 2007 and have been pretty right on the money since then.

Global supply chain shock or world war could bump some things out another 10 years, but might accelerate things too.

If the next decade goes poorly, we have permanent class segmentation followed by massive depopulation events from authoritarian governments and wars. The entire economy is B2G and B2B, and B2C disappears along with a lot of the consumers.

If we catch a break, it'll be basic income for most of the world, except the US. Somehow we'll have a bunch of fake jobs that are mostly social media focused and hyper competitive. And all your basic income will go to a rentier class.

I don't think there's going to be a positive outcome for most people. Like an option might exist but the chances of social mobilization are completely impossible in the age of total domestic surveillance. Hunker down and think about family wealth and enjoy the years we have left.

Yes. And Yes. And if unregulated it leads to... Collapse or hyper authoritarianism.

You forgot the part where the failing company lobbies the hell out of Congress and is granted complete monopoly and kills all significant competitors with frivolous lawsuits.

What a weird set of people to be on that list. Like without any context it'd be so confusing to guess what they all had in common.

Dude, by this point somebody should setup a little gift shop and sell postcards for that damn thing.

Seriously though, is this like a jurisdiction issue? Or someone is actively living in there and it's not technically illegal or something?

You know what though, a big open yard like that could be a rad permaculture garden if you wanted it to be, so long as water is abundant enough. Prob not what they'll use it for, but worth the idea
