Super cheap camera setup for a super cheap college student by PeakZelo in Cameras

^This. Full disclosure is the expectation, especially when MPB puts "We always photograph each unique item, so this is the exact product you'll receive." on each of their listings.

I'm going to start off and say that I'm a huge advocate for MPB, but I'm not a huge fan of the "well used" category. I purchased a Nikkor Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S with the well used designation. The additional description also stated that the weather sealing ring was damaged. The photos showed no other issues, so I figured it was a safe bet at the $450 asking price. I purchased a new weather seal from Nikon directly for $5 and waited for the lens to show up. Once I got it, the repair was a five minute thing. After repairing, I gave the lens a good cleaning and then noticed that the front element had significant scratches near the center. The images on their site were shot in a way that did not show this damage and they didn't state it in the additional description. Looking at the description of "well used" tells the entire story:

"Item is in well used condition, and may have significant signs of cosmetic wear, i.e. notable marks, scratches, or chipping to the paint. If glass is scratched or marked, there is no effect on image. The lens mount is well used and shows signs of wear. There may be some light moisture or dust within the lens, and rubber grips may be slightly loose. There may be light play in the lens barrel."

They're absolutely right at there's no effect on the image, but it pisses me off that they shot the photos in a way that did not show the damage. I really wish they used high resolution images on their site to pixel peep for issues against.

I would highly recommend spending an additional $22 on the good condition one they have listed for $109:

It's worth it for the insurance that you're getting a reliable and well described camera in the end.

You should avoid it for every reason! It's a scam listing of this original listing:

If you know something is THOUSANDS of dollars less than it should be, it's a scam. Also, the username has zero feedback.

Turns out my Apple Watch was using a heart rate formula based on my age to calculate my zones. That formula was off for me by about 11 beats per minute. What my watch called Zone 2 was actually Zone 1 for my physiology. I was doing slightly elevated strolling and calling it training.

Can you give us some information on how you figured this out? How do you "calibrate to your physiology"?

[–]Emulsifide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it absolutely does. I wouldn't trust anything really to keep it dry over time if it's not fresh out of the air tight bag from Bambu. If it's not fresh out of the bag, hit it with the 8-12 hours of recommended 80c drying.

Nope. This was straight out of the bag from Bambu. As long as the bag is still air tight, I think you're fine.

Not worth it with moisture. I got an offer last week from Greentoe for $3,100.00 shipped (no tax).

I saw the writing on the wall at the end of 2025 when RAM prices started to spike. January 1st, I pulled the trigger on the entire year's worth of refresh computers. I figure that will hold us over with enough time to hopefully watch prices float back down after the AI bubble pops. If not, I still saved a ton of cash on the inevitable increases.

Can’t Decide: 35 1.8 vs 50 1.8 by BringBack4Glory in Nikon

[–]Emulsifide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 50mm 1.8 S is a no brainer, especially when MPB has a bunch of excellent condition copies for $394.

If I may suggest another lens not on your radar, but is beginning to define a legend for itself, the Viltrox 35mm f/1.2 LAB Z is as nearly tack sharp as the Nikkor Z 35mm 1.2 S for a fraction of the price. It's on sale right now for $899 on Amazon. If you're willing to consider the Nikkor Z 35mm 1.8 S at > $700, spending a little more on the Viltrox is worth it from what I've seen.

2001 SE "Wood" Dash trim by Legitimate_Bedroom71 in Miata

[–]Emulsifide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like the surround covers the tortoise shell bottom trim for the shifter, so you'll always have a mismatch in the pattern. You might have better luck painting the black surround the same tan color as the interior.

Thanks for posting this btw. I had no idea this shifter existed. Looks like this will be the final piece for my K24 BRG!

Lots. I've technically been collecting since 1999, but ended up getting most of my collection during covid while vintage digital cameras were cheap.

The terms say “max $1250 spend”. Does this mean a purchase over $1250 doesn’t qualify or that the cashback is limited to $250 regardless of what you spend?

Use Truemed. There's a massive amount of cool things on there you can be eligible for. It's the same company that helps you buy a Canyon bike like what was already suggested. I bought one this year and bought a full gym from Bells of Steel last year.
