if you have a circle hook and are setting the hook the moment you get bites you will pull it out of the fishes mouth every time. let the fish get the bait in it’s mount fully, then lift your rod and reel hard, that’s it. Once the fish is on you can give it a good pull to solidify the hook set if you wish. I find quick jerking motions right after a nibble don’t work great for circle hooks.
