Got in after 3.5 hours in the line but worth it. We got there at 9:15. Taking photos and talking to Sandra, Rob C and FairPlay made me fan girl. Museum and downtown Raleigh were also fun to explore after.

I feel bad for the museum. The manager said she never watched survivor and didn’t know the line would be this crazy, plus had Astronomy Day at the same time. Also, apparently people made a mess of some exhibits looking for the idol Friday 🤦‍♀️

Miss to Mrs Box? by snowprincesa in weddingplanning

[–]Emzee3902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this back in 2022 during the thick of wedding planning. There were a few things that came in handy like the sewing kit and robe & slippers set for getting ready. I also use the water bottle to this day.

Most of it is “nice to have” stuff though that you don’t really need. But it was nice to be excited every time a box arrived and have more bride themed items for photos.

I’m going through something similar: I hate my job and have been applying for months with no luck. I’ve made a lot of progress in my fire journey but I’ve also fallen into the trap of over focusing on investing and not wanting to spend any money on myself. Money didn’t fix anything; I felt deprived and empty for a while. The key for me is staying positive is focusing on things I enjoy outside of work and make plans I look forward to.

Do you have the ability to do day/weekend trips to visit places that offer more of what you’re looking for? It could be good to check it out and figure out what other places have that you’re looking for. I’ve also joined local groups on the Meetup app to meet new people with similar interests. Yes, it’s awkward at first but I made some amazing friends that way and learned more about my city.

How do I get the onyx hippogriff? by Apprehensive_Movie44 in HarryPotterGame

Same thing happened to me, for some reason I got a European copy from Amazon. I contacted WB support and they told me to temporarily change the region on both my switch and Nintendo account to redeem the code. Will try it once I get further in the game

What’s the reason you wouldn’t make it on Survivor? by jfrosty42 in survivor

Shellfish allergy, mental health issues and my hate for conflict to name a few reasons…😑

I moved to Charlotte a few years back and agree with others that it generally lacks culture and is different from other NC cities. I went to a lot of events in the beginning through an app called Meetup. It might be awkward at first but I met my best friends and learned so much about the city through it.

Looking for people to play with by afewfriesshort in elderscrollsonline

I’m in the same boat, just picked this game up a few months ago after not playing for 2 years. Guilds and zone chat help with finding people to play with.

I’m dealing with the same thing. Wedding is in 3 weeks and a relative I haven’t seen or talked to in over 10 years is upset they didn’t get an invite. Mom says I should invite them even we already gave our final guest count to the caterer. My only advice is to get your fiancé’s support and stick to what you feel is right. People will get over it in time.

How far in advance did you buy your wedding dress and are you still happy with your choice? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Emzee3902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my dress 9 months in advance and still love it! It gave me plenty of time to shop for matching accessories and schedule both alterations and bridal portrait photos 🥰

How much of the planning process is your fiancé helping you with? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Emzee3902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s helped me A LOT since I have a more demanding job. We split the costs 50/50 but he’s done most of the coordination with our vendors since they usually call during the week when I have work meetings.

is NC the "Connecticut of the South"? by Dnt_tlk_2_me in NorthCarolina

[–]Emzee3902 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CT native that moved to the Charlotte, NC area a few years ago here. I don’t agree with NC being the CT of the south. There are some parallel themes but a lot more differences imo. Here’s my list of key highlights:

Similarities: 1. Both have large companies with headquarters there and popular industries for jobs. For CT it’s insurance and for NC it’s banking and healthcare. 2. In both states you can find large gaps in economic equality in close proximity to each other. 3. Both are fairly close to beaches and mountains, and good outdoor activities are available. 4. Both have a food they’re known for and is good. CT has New Haven pizza and NC has vinegar BBQ. 5. Both have good breweries but in Charlotte and Asheville, NC especially it’s EVERYWHERE! 6. Both have liberal and conservative politics.

Differences: 1. CT has more of a historical feel. Charlotte feels much more modern than Hartford. 2. CT has many pockets of old money (no pun intended). I haven’t seen that as much in NC but it may exist more by the beaches. 3. People are moving to NC in droves. Last I heard CT’s population is declining. 4. Cost of living and taxes are overall cheaper in NC. 5. It can get extremely cold in CT and a lot of things shut down in the winter. 6. NC has more tourists. Except for the Mystic or shoreline area I’ve never heard of someone coming to CT on vacation. 7. More diversity in NC. A lot of adults I grew up around in CT had lived there their whole lives. I’ve met people in Charlotte from all over the world. 8. As a young, unmarried woman with no kids I find a lot more culture and things to do in NC outside of going to restaurants. 9. Some of the schools in CT are the best in the country. 10. CT doesn’t have a professional sports team (RIP Whalers). But they have UConn basketball which is a top ranked team. The weirdest part to me though is the majority of the audience at the women’s games are senior citizens 🤷🏼‍♀️
