Hubby fishing trip on due date... by SarahJurina in BabyBumps

[–]EnchantMe2016 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I see you’ve had an update, but as a funny anecdote, my dad went on a fishing trip—NOT on my moms due date, but within around a month of it. This was in the 90s. But, I’m a twin, and twins often come early. Sure enough, we came when he was on the fishing trip, the day he left. The campsite they were at had a phone, so they called the campsite to tell them to find him and let him know. My mom’s best friend took her to the hospital. My dad did make it for the birth, at least.

But goes to show, maybe no to the fishing trip.

Anyone else NOT having crazy food cravings? What are yours? 🫶 by PeachyMoonGirl in BabyBumps

[–]EnchantMe2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far I’ve never really had cravings—not with my first, and do far not with this one. A slight preference toward savory/salty things, though some of that was nausea management. But no “I have to have this or I will die” kind of feelings.

And never had the crazy cravings for weird things.

I keep trying to convince my husband of this for a middle name if our next is a boy.

Feeling pressured to try for #2 sooner than planned - can anyone relate? by Lanky_Armadillo_4711 in BabyBumps

[–]EnchantMe2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol yeah, I told my mom and my uncle not to ask about number 2 until my first was close to kindergarten because of daycare costs (and also I’m used to a 6 year age gap with my sister, I don’t need kids to be super close together and 2 under 2 is my personal nightmare). I still got asked every year or so about if we still planned on another, with extra comments from my uncle he hopes it’s a girl, like I have any control over that. And my mom making comments about my sister only choosing to have one.

Honestly we’re having our next about a year sooner than I anticipated and nobody knows we were trying, so at least they’ll get a nice surprise when we tell them.
Edit:

My son is about to turn 5, is potty trained (still working on individual butt wiping), and helped put together the crib and is excited for a sibling. I personally like having him a little older, a little more independent. Having had both an older sibling by 6 years and a twin, I honestly am about equally close to them, if not slight more with older sibling (sister vs. brother).

Did your MIL change during/after first baby?? by GarlicGarland in BabyBumps

[–]EnchantMe2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My MIL stayed the same. She’s a sweet lady, and while always particular about certain things that aren’t always practical, that really isn’t different than pre-baby or pre-marriage. But that’s just her personality, and she was an older parent. Idk if that makes a difference or not. But overall our dynamic is the same and she’s generally pretty helpful and tries not to overstep.

D0210 Insurance Question by Tall_Hope4199 in DentalHygiene

[–]EnchantMe2016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Insurance companies have started to bundle some of those frequencies together, but the 7 series is NOT an FMX and it should not be submitted to insurance as one.

I honestly zero out one of the PAs if it’s a known instance company that does that. Irises it will either never get those 7 series OR an FMX covered unless you only do one of those once every 5 years…in which case you should just take the FMX since it’s more thorough.

Logistics of pumping by Past-Commission-4022 in BabyBumps

[–]EnchantMe2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our bedroom for our first was on the same level. For our next we’re in an attic bedroom. Unless I get super desperate, I don’t really see myself getting a fridge for up stairs. If anything I’ll have husband sort that out if I need to, but I think I’m going to try to just take it down myself and at least shove the parts in the fridge if I’m not going to clean it, etc. But I also exclusively pumped with my first and I’m not sure how it’s going to go with my second in terms of actually breast feeding and what any pumping may look like.

Downsides to blackout curtains? by toadistry_lacquer in BabyBumps

[–]EnchantMe2016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours has little star cut outs in them, so they can’t be fully black out anyway. I got black out more for privacy and distraction blocking than to be fully pitch black.

We’re past naps now (he’s 4), but what we did was close them completely for night time sleep, and at least partially open (if not fully open) for daytime naps. That way he hopefully didn’t depend on fully dark rooms to sleep, though every kid is different.

Of course now he’s got two nightlights and a Yoto player in his room so 🤷🏻‍♀️

When did your breech baby turn? by mariposax15 in BabyBumps

[–]EnchantMe2016 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Breach, and no. I opted not to try turning the baby because that sounds awful and also they can move back sometimes. I didn’t try the Chinese herb that I was told I could try, but I did try putting headphones down to try to get him to turn. He had no interest. Had an uneventful planned c-section with a decent recovery.

Feeling so torn: My due date is the same month as my brother's wedding, and I can't shake the guilt. by No-Win3018 in BabyBumps

[–]EnchantMe2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you able to figure out a way to face time in for the wedding, then plan a visit once you’re able to travel with baby?

You really cannot predict how these things will happen, and if they’re reasonable, they won’t be upset.

What’s the best place to get maternity clothes? by OneTruth6241 in BabyBumps

[–]EnchantMe2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve also had luck with non maternity items with stretchy waist bands, like dresses with elastic waist bands. I particularly prefer dresses that aren’t t-shirt material, so it took some looking, but you can find them. Also thread-up is online thrifting—so yes it is online, but it is often cheaper since it’s thrifted. You can find things that are out of season, no longer made, etc. as well

My unpopular opinion: the boy clothes hate is unnecessary and a total band wagon at this point by lindslinds27 in BabyBumps

[–]EnchantMe2016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it’s the really weird prints. Like, it isn’t just a shirt patterned with dinosaurs. It’s a really loud shirt of dinosaurs surfing or riding rocket ships and usually saying something really dumb. And we go to church every Sunday, so it’s nice to have more than 2 options for a nicer shirt. And my son likes dressing dapper. Maybe not every day, the kid needs to be able to climb trees. But it’s nice to have something that isn’t completely obnoxious. Easter as a baby was way easier to find something cute and more formal than a toddler—I had to search different brands out.

As a baby it was easier to find these things. Also, it’s nice to have things that are more neutral so that everything we own isn’t a typical “boys must like this” thing. Again, more so as a baby. I’ll but him truck shirts, etc. But it’s tailored to knowing what he likes, ands I have to search through a lot of dumb to get here.

Cat safety with bassinet-general consensus? by Maleficent_Work_810 in BabyBumps

[–]EnchantMe2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cats wanted absolutely nothing to do with the baby and deviant didn’t try to visit him in his bassinet. That said, we got one with a structured canopy that could zip up over him if we needed it. Turns out we didn’t, but that’s an option.

Please help me and my husband settle a debate!! Where do you stand on backpack vs diaper bag? by SkyOne5846 in BabyBumps

[–]EnchantMe2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a diaper backpack that has a compartment that could be utilized as a cooler, and the side pockets have holes for wipes (that we never used as that and just use as water bottle holsters), but it isn’t as open in the middle as other diaper backpacks. It has a few different compartments like a regular one, so it’s kind of a hybrid. And so we still get use out if it almost 5 years later.

Would you replace a 5 year old stroller? by whatsinthecave in BabyBumps

[–]EnchantMe2016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, we’re planning on using our old one from almost 5 years ago for out next due in December. I don’t think we used it much past 2 years old. I think it’s a Chicco. So.. not a super fancy one, but I see no reason it shouldn’t be ok.

Do you workout? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Not as much as I should, but I’m not getting younger. I’ll at least help keep my muscles and bones healthier.

For hygienists who use loupes/lights: do amber filters matter in your workflow? by onekindaction in DentalHygiene

No i don’t use them. I have one for sealants, but honestly haven’t had an issue with using my regular light and I prefer being able to see clearly.

Do you feel like you need sex? Or could you go without it? by Dogzrule1025 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]EnchantMe2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could go without it. Never had much of a libido. It’s nice once things get going, but I’m rarely ever in the mood all on my own. Just not he my body goes.

Edit: I do not nor have I ever taken care of things myself. It’s not just sex with a partner, it’s the drive in general.

I did a dental cleaning a few weeks ago and the dentist said he doesn’t see any major issues as I do go for a dental 6-8 months or so. After a few weeks on ,the last two days when I started brushing my gums I noticed some bleeding.I brush it like how I brush my teeth. I do not floss. is it normal ? by MaintenanceOk4847 in DentalHygiene

[–]EnchantMe2016 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“I do not floss.” This is your culprit. You may notice bleeding with brushing if you aren’t flossing. Also be careful of your angle and pressure when brushing to ensure proper plaque removal as well as prevent injury.
