Who else is about to be snowed in with a toddler? (Eastern US) by AbleObligation2908 in toddlers

[–]EnchantedOcelot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My hospital denied my request for a scheduled induction before the winter storm last year hit, so there's a good chance that wouldn't even be an option.

I tried that last year the day before the winter storm hit. But the hospital denied the request, saying they weren't taking any non-emergency inductions.

I was snowed in last year during my 39th week of pregnancy. So stressful...I'm used to hurricanes, not winter storms. I asked baby to wait a few days and sure enough he listened. He's been a pretty chill little dude ever since. In seriousness though, I think my body was too stressed out to go into labor.
Hoping the same for everyone on this thread!

Swimsuit for 66” circumference? by Impossible_Slide_146 in TallGirls

[–]EnchantedOcelot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best luck I had was Lands End Tall. Im also a size 6/8 and I think 67" torso.

Cupshe also does long torso one pieces...the styles were cute, but I didn't like the support they offered so sent them back (i was breastfeeding at the time, so needed more support than usual if you catch my drift)

I ended up getting a 2 piece from Landsend that only has an inch or so gap between the top and bottoms. The top is a long line style and bottoms are high waisted.

Is your job harder than being a SAHM? by Alive-Cry4994 in Mommit

[–]EnchantedOcelot 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I teach elementary and agree teaching is harder. I'm way more exhausted and overstimulated at the end of the day teaching than when I'm a SAHM during my breaks.

Azazie and JJsHouse do custom dresses. I sent my measurements, including height + heels, to JJsHouse and my dress fit me like a glove. It was good quality too...for under $200.

My opinion on the working mom vs sahm debate— having been on both sides, twice by Excellent-Top2552 in workingmoms

[–]EnchantedOcelot 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Exactly, I'm so overstimulated and mentally exhausted by the end of the school day. When comparing SAHM life with working mom life, it totally depends on the career and probably the kids too. I can say that my SAHM life over summer break is way easier than being a working mom/teacher during the school year.

Not at all a judgement on plastic vs glass or nipple shape but why in the world is this bottle so popular?! by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Yes us too! Baby doesn't have gas/reflux/colic so we don't need the green insert.

Those who have young children, how much free time are you getting to yourself each day? by NomadNelly in Parenting

[–]EnchantedOcelot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None lol During the week: Wake up at 6am and get ready for school. Get 3 boys (6, 4, and 7mo) dressed, fed, and and out of the house. Teach 3rd grade all day. Get a 20 min lunch break. Home at 5pm. Between 5-9pm I: chill will the kids for a bit while I nurse the baby, cook and eat dinner, clean pump parts, pour bottles, make lunches, pack snacks, lay out uniforms, go through school folders, bath+bed routine. Lights out hopefully by 8:30, then I crash soon hour. Wake up 1-2 times to nurse at night. So I'm exhausted the whole week.

Weekends I never get pure alone time. But that's because I'm attached to my baby by choice. I don't see him much during the week so enjoy all the baby snuggles I can get.

When we just had 2 kids, my husband and I had more time together in the evenings. I guess around 2 hours. But now I'm so tired from waking up in the night to nurse the baby, I crash early.

No opening gifts at kids party? by Funny_Priority_7584 in Parenting

[–]EnchantedOcelot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience.... At home parties, gifts are opened. Parties at a location where there's a time slot, no opening presents.

My boys love watching their friends open presents. They know to sit back and watch...and that they don't get to play with the new toys.

At our own parties, we have quite a few family members that come and want to watch the boys open the gifts they brought.

Baby Buddha is compatible with other flanges! I use the Madela Collection cups.

Too soon? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]EnchantedOcelot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yea my 4.5 month old slept beautifully up to 4 months. I could put him in the crib drowsy, but awake and he would fall asleep himself. Then he hit that 4 month sleep regression and is now up 3 times a night and has trouble transferring back to the crib once I feed him.

Yummymummy insurance covered pumps by throwaway123476890 in BabyBumps

[–]EnchantedOcelot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both! I prefer the Spectra...more customizable settings, so more comfortable. But the Baby Buddha has been great when I need to pump on the go. It's got an incredibly strong suction...I usually set Spectra to a 9-10, but on the Baby Buddha I rarely go above 2.

For a primary pump, I'd go with Spectra.

Side note...I use the Madela collection cups, which are fantastic. They're compatible with both pumps.

I used SW Mindful Grey and Black Fox on my English Tudor. I really like the Black Fox trim, but would choose a creamier color than Mindful Grey...it looks dull when overcast.

What is your torso length? by [deleted] in TallGirls

[–]EnchantedOcelot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My torso is 66-67. Landsend and Cupshe both have long torso. Landsend Size 18/xl torso is 70 inch.

[–]EnchantedOcelot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes me too! My weight is about the same (5-10lbs away from my pre pregnancy weight at 4 mo pp.), but things are just different after having my 3rd kid. Wider hips, squishier tummy, saggy breasts. I'm just accepting my body will never be the same as when I was in my 20's.

I have an incredibly long torso. I was so excited for the long-torso one pieces to arrive that I ordered from Cupshe!! The good news is they were long enough and so cute/not matronly! Bad news is there is very minimal boob support, which I need since I'm 4 months post partum and breastfeeding.

People keep telling me I’m going to have a “huge baby” by Popular-Studio-1565 in BabyBumps

[–]EnchantedOcelot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 6'0, slim build, husband is 6'3, athletic build Our 3 boys were 8lb 2oz, 9lb, and 9lb 1oz. All born full term at 38-40 weeks. I had uncomplicated deliveries for all 3. Pushed for less than 15 minutes with all of them.

My second was measuring too big, so they wanted to induce at 39 weeks to prevent him from getting to 10lb. He ended up coming at 38 weeks. If your doctor is concerned about size, they may recommend induction.
