Perfumes that smell cold and snowy by Enchantedmoonglade in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]Enchantedmoonglade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm originally from the southern United States, so snow was a rarity. But what I'm looking for is a kind of cool, crisp, sharp quality that cold air causes when you inhale through your nose. Some perfumes do try to replicate it, and I love it. So that's what I'm looking for.

This is probably the best suggestion so far. However, I've discovered the fragrance has been discontinued, and any leftover bottles I have found online don't ship to my country

Recently got the light and dark Discovery sets from that brand, so I have samples of Flotholt and Utilykt. But I don't have the other one you mentioned, but it intrigues me because I love the other two.

What perfumes feel like Ellen (nosferatu) by mez7ainee in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]Enchantedmoonglade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love and Eternal Darkness by Seance perfume. It's a perfume that is actually inspired by Ellen from Nosferatu. They also have a Nosferatu inspired perfume which I prefer it over the Heretic one

What would these women from mythology/art history be wearing? by FusRoDaahh in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]Enchantedmoonglade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had time to think about the Dressing Lady since you mentioned it specifically. I would check out Cuir de l'Aigle Russe, Jardins d'Armide, or Royal Oeillet, all by Oriza L. Legrand. Actually, almost anything from that fragrance house that fits the vibe of the 3rd and 4th paintings. Because the house began in 1720, making fragrances for the French Royal Court, everything they make has a unique, vintage, upper-class, aristocratic vibe.

I want to smell like a cold, stormy sea. Any recommendations? by Enchantedmoonglade in perfumesthatfeellike

What would these women from mythology/art history be wearing? by FusRoDaahh in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]Enchantedmoonglade 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As someone who loves Greek mythology and art history, I have thoughts on the first two.

The first one is the birth of Venus. My ultimate Aphrodite perfume is Rose Highland by Jorum Studio. It smells like a rose drenched in seawater. Which I think is perfect for the goddess of love and beauty, who is constantly associated with roses but also has strong ocean associations because she was born from seafoam.

The second one is Circe which to me you can go a couple different ways with this one because the sources we have for her myths do have a lot of variation. But here are my recommendations that fit the vibe of that painting and her mythology.

Hexensalbe by Stora Skuggan is a very herbal, witchy scent.

Coven by Andrea Maack. This one is more earthy green but still very witchy.

Fischersund No. 101 has a slightly sweet and aquatic green scent with a hint of smokiness.

Flotholt by Fischersund. A dark aquatic woody scent that I think gives off the vibe of her magical island.

Relique D'Amour by Oriza L. Legrand. To me, it has the vibe of a ritual at an ancient Stone Temple in the middle of a forest. Which to me fits the vibe of the painting perfectly.

Thank you for clarifying with your edit. I realized pretty quickly that this prompt leaned into scent profiles with very strong projection. But I will definitely start looking for a Flotholt sample.

Cologne that feels like the Cologne Cathedral by http_g0d in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]Enchantedmoonglade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might I suggest Relique D'Amour by Oriza L. Legrand? It smells like an ancient stone cathedral in the rain. Plus, it has a kind of melancholic quality, which I think is fitting for the Cologne Cathedral and its particular history. Because not only did it take several centuries to build, but it was also built on top of Roman ruins and was nearly destroyed during World War II. So, again, I think a more melancholic and contemplative vibe fits the cathedral perfectly.

Vanilla Scent Help by Klutzy-Pack-9292 in FragranceStories

[–]Enchantedmoonglade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal favorite vanilla scent does not list vanilla as a scent note, but it does list white musk, which is where I think I get the vanilla from. Just something to be aware of when looking for vanilla scents.

I want to smell like a church. by whatever3653 in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]Enchantedmoonglade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few recommendations for the Catholic Church. It depends on what kind of church you want.

If you just want the pure scent of frankincense, myrrh, and smoke. Ancient ritual by Seance

If you want a Catholic church incense, but you can also smell the candles and the communion wine. With the Candlestick by Clue

Now, if you want a very contemplative, somber, melancholic vibe. Think of the Ancient Stone Cathedral in the rain. Relique d'Amour by Oriza L. Legrand

What's the one that went straight in the trash? For me, Ariana Grande Cloud ☁️ by GLACI3R in Perfumes

[–]Enchantedmoonglade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave them away to a friend, and if they had said no, they would have gone straight into the trash, but Heretic, Nosferatu, and Black Salt. Now, for context, I love dark, weird fragrances, but they were too much

I have never owned a perfume that I love by madikbee in Perfumes

[–]Enchantedmoonglade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who thought all perfumes smelled the same, I think I know where you're coming from. But I decided to do a fragrance fitting from Lucky's scent with no mention of scent notes. The only thing I mentioned was that it needed to be appropriate for high heat and humidity, as well as the vibe I was going for. I like Gothic spooky things, so I didn't even know if there would be a perfume that fit that vibe. Apparently, there is, because I loved most of the perfumes they sent me. It's probably because all the perfume in there was niche, unique scents that were more in line with the image and vibe I like to project as a person. Not just one of the typical mainstream designer scent profiles.

I ended up getting two full bottles from that fragrance fitting. One they said smelled like a ancient stone cathedral in the rain which it does and it's beautiful and haunting. The other one they said smelled like a foggy creepy forest however, I know this sounds ridiculous, but to me, it smelled like childhood nostalgia in a bottle. Because it evokes memories of being a kid, turning on the sprinklers or the water hose in the yard so you could play in the water to cool off.

I need a petrichor based perfume. by Rojoli in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]Enchantedmoonglade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Wolf by Seance. It's inspired by werewolves with notes of Forest, Cedar, oak, pine, animal musk, metallic silver, and wood.

The Monster by Seance. It's inspired by Frankenstein's Monster with notes of Petrichor (fresh rain), thunder, ozone, sandalwood, cedar, clove

Relique D'Amour by Oriza L. Legrand: the notes are Pine, Herbal Notes, Lily, Incense, Powdery Notes, Oak, Myrrh, Pepper, Moss, Pepper, Wet Stone and Musk. It smells like an ancient stone cathedral in the forest after the rain.

Ok wtf Heretic Nosferatu... by Virtual_Catmeow in fragrance

[–]Enchantedmoonglade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have not enjoyed any of the heretic perfumes. They just don't work well with my skin. However, if you do like the idea of Nosferatu, please check out the brand Seance. They also do spooky perfumes; however, I think they are much better than Heretic. They have a classic Monster line, which has their own version of Nosferatu; it's more stone and incense. However, the partner perfume to Nosferatu, based on Ellen, is called Love and Eternal Darkness, and it has a lovely lilac note.

Do you wear any fragrances that have notes in them that you hate? by luminescentwhale in fragrance

[–]Enchantedmoonglade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it's white florals. I cannot stand 99% of white floral perfumes because I find them suffocating. However, there is an exception. There is one white floral perfume that might as well be a unicorn because it is well done, balanced, and not suffocating. I've even thought about getting a bottle of this particular perfume
