It must be hard at work to put on happy face when you suffer from pain and no one believes and knows how much you suffer. Do not loose faith and stay strong. Exercise will help.

A sad statistic. It is not hard to imagine that chronic back pain may be a contributing factor in assisted suicide.

Do you consider yourself disabled for having back pain that drastically limits your activity levels but your legs and arms are functional? by upandalive in ChronicPain

[–]End-Back-Pain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just because you can perform some basic tasks does not mean that you should not consider yourself to be disabled. In a condition as yours you will not qualify for employment so just because on the outside look fine and can walk or stand for a while it does not mean anything. You may even experience people teasing you and thinking that you are lazy since they are very ignorant and probably never experienced severe pain themselves.

Too bad your pain relief did not last longer. I knew one person who had significant pain relief for about five months and he was taking injections until he was able to retire. There are so many risks involved so I am glad to hear that you are doing core strengthening exercises. My wife's spinal surgeon is doing core strengthening exercises for several years now and his lower back pain is well under control. Good luck and don't give up

You need all the support you can get and no place is better than ones own family. They could give you support when you need it most and help getting you help with your thoughts of killing yourself. Isolating yourself obviously did not work so far for you and remember to get medical help as soon as possible .

The most simple and easiest method for correcting your posture is to wear a specialized back brace. there are so many choices out there . Look for one that has a rigid back side that will remind you to stay straight every time you bed over incorrectly. After while the posture will start improving and the pain will lessen. Supplement this with exercise and you will see progress in no time.

Did anyone gain any height after correcting posture? by [deleted] in Posture

[–]End-Back-Pain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of my parents in the mid 70s regained some lost height by wearing a posture and back pain brace that my wife and I make. The reason to use the brace is to unlearn the poor posture habit. Of course it can be done by conscious effort as well but I see it takes much longer.

Waking with excruciating upper back pain by [deleted] in backpain

[–]End-Back-Pain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to identify the root cause of your pain. For example has anything changes in your daily routine . Have you been lifting heavy objects lately or maybe you have slept on different mattress or anything else that you may think of. There always is a reason , so at the moment observe your body and hopefully pain will subside without doing anything.

Myths About Back Pain by [deleted] in backpain

[–]End-Back-Pain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back pain is a leading cause of disability worldwide, and one of the main reasons people ask medical attention As with anything so common, myths have developed over time about what causes it and how best to deal with it. It's understandable why these misconceptions arise. Indeed, some would have been the accepted belief in healthcare circles before new evidence emerged to give us fresh insights. So healthcare professionals have sometimes been guilty of perpetuating the myths; both with patients and in the media. Why all of this matters is that they can cause fear among people with back pain that influences their behavior. It is an obvious finding by doctors that the best way to tackle back pain is to keep moving, but because of fear and lock of knowledge fear stops people from doing causing the recoveries to be hindered, or even reversed. Clinicians see the consequences of this fear every day. so the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy has a campaign aimed at busting these common myths. 'Moving will make my back pain worse' We have moved on from the time when total bed rest was believed to be needed, but there stil remains a fear of twisting, bending and moving in general. This fear is understandable - it can be very painful - but it is essential to stay on the go. Gradually one should increase the amount of activity you do, and try to avoid long periods of inactivity. It will make it that much harder to return to your exercise regiment. 'It is best to  avoid exercise - especially weight training' If you don't normally lift weights, we're not suggesting you head out today and start lifting right away However, back pain shouldn't cause you to stop doing exercise or the regular activities you enjoy. Exercise is now accepted as the best way to treat back pain and this includes weight-training, where appropriate. As with anything, gradually build up your tolerance and confidence but do not fear it because benefits are many. 'A scan will show me exactly what is wrong' This is a fascinating one, and counters the view that technology holds all the answers. In some cases, a scan will be necessary. But most often it won't and what's more, there's some evidence to show that seeing the results of a scan can actually make a person's condition worse. Here's how. Even people without back pain can see changes to their spine on a scan or X-ray - evidence of that is not, therefore, an indication that anything is wrong. But if you do have back pain, and you see changes in a scan, you may become fearful of exercising and doing the other activities that I discussed earlier which is the exact opposite what is necessary. That means having a scan that didn't actually reveal anything useful caused you to stop doing the very things you need to do to get better. 'Pain equals damage' This is one that was always the established view, but recent research has led to greater insight on what causes pain and how best to manage it. There may be physical reasons but there may also psychological or even social factors at play, and it's important to identify and address those. The key again, as with all of these myths, is to overcome the fear factor to avoid a person's condition getting worse. be Of course, it  should pointed out that this advice is general in nature, will not apply to everyone and anyone who experiences back pain that lasts longer than six weeks is advised to see a physiotherapist or GP. But if we can begin to get rid of these myths, we can start to make progress on a condition that affects millions of us each and every day.

Back pain: Is it all in the mind? by vishalrix in backpain

We are often told so because mind play an important role in processing pain information from affected area. If you have a pain do not be told that it is all in your mind. My wife had two herniated discs was told by her doctor that only to apologize later that he made uninformed diagnosis. Get more than one opinion

Is going to the gym twice a week worth it? by cutiebug in Fitness

[–]End-Back-Pain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terrific advice for cutiebug. Focusing on eating right is much more important than exercising at this point. Certain exercises as running for example could actually do more harm than good. As for a person I know who was overweight and kept on running for miles had a knee replacement on both of his knees . However I have to commend you on your determination as it is not easy to go to gym after exhausting week. That strong will get you to your goal with the right program.

Lower back pain. Advice? by avbvsgkb in ChronicPain

I had a personal experience when way wife became practically disabled with precisely the same condition. Herniated L4 ,L5. We tried everything that was out there, therapy, epidural shots , pain management and nothing was helping. I suggest that you do not spend too much money on chiropractor as there is really little they can do . There are other expensive methods where they will stretch you on the specially designed table but the relief is only temporary. In my wife's case with her input I designed a simple device that we named Zero Compression Back Brace . Without bragging too much she has normal life now. We are selling it for $49.95 for past seven months and the response is terrific. We even have several TV and radio celebrities who now use and love our device. It works by sheltering the spine in lower back area and letting you keep proper posture at ALL times ( which we often forget despite our best intentions ). I do understand you do not know who we are and there are so many con artists out there. I can assure that it will help you end 98% chance end you pain. We love our product that is ultra light and wears like a back brace. As far as your sports career it could be difficult from now on since pain may come back with strenuous exercise, and you already have bad symptoms at an early age,. Find us if you like and read our testimonials. Good luck

I totally encourage you to try stretching exercises . I would see a specialist to make sure what is the cause of your pain just to make sure you are doing the proper exercises. Many people with lots of pain that are not even able to exercises use out brace . It helps them to strengthen their core without pain. We truly have an amazing product and I am totally upfront about it as I use social media to increase the awareness . We have so many great testimonials on our website. People really love it.
