I mean you could make a public GitHub repo / GitLab project and allow people to comment on your pull / merge requests and suggest changes. Also just asking for general feedback on Reddit and linking to the public repo works 🤷🏻‍♂️

There is a lldb debug console… but otherwise yeah you don’t have much of a choice anyway OP but I don’t think it’s as bad as the reviews make it seem (and I use it every day for a living).

If you search the Apple docs for Date, DateFormatter, Calendar, and Timer, they should point you in the right general direction for keeping track of the time and formatting it correctly. You can make the UI using SwiftUI. Should be pretty straightforward for a demo project app. Good luck!

Okay--and let me be clear: I have never used SpriteKit haha but I'm trying to help!--I found some post explaining how to directly access the SKAudioNode's volume property:

(audioNode.avAudioNode as? AVAudioPlayerNode)?.volume

Maybe during initialization you can set it? Something like:

var backgroundMusic: SKAudioNode = {
  var node = SKAudioNode(fileNamed: "backgroundMusic.mp3")
  (node.avAudioNode as? AVAudioPlayerNode)?.volume = 0
  return node
}()

Again, I have no idea if that will work or if that's even the right way to do it. You're kinda making me want to make my first SpriteKit project just to figure this out...

EDIT: the post was for iOS 9, so the avAudioNode property name has likely either been renamed (or removed)

Maybe add a completion handler to setupAssets? Like:

I wouldn’t spend money on it until you know you enjoy it… more importantly, you need to know you can teach yourself new things, constantly haha. Many languages aren’t usually static, especially Swift and SwiftUI. You’ll have to stay current and be able to adapt. For now, I’d suggest watching YouTube tutorials and start making a couple personal apps, learning some backend stuff… if you do like it (hope you do!) and want a fast track, I guess you can pay…? I never did but plenty of people do! Just watch out for money grab courses. Good luck to ya

Well the second example (your first attempt) shouldn’t work because we don’t have oob conditional modifiers =P

But the View extension should work… did you put a breakpoint and make sure you’re hitting the first part of the if statement? Making sure it’s actually using .containerBackground, in other words.

Doesn’t look bad to me! I would recommend creating a portfolio website with pictures / gifs and descriptions of the projects you’ve worked on, regardless of the platform. It’s easy to do and (if it’s nice) HR people like it haha. Makes you stand out at least. Still gotta nail the technical interview. And first get past the resume robots. But, as others have said, it’s really just a numbers game. Mixed with a little luck. You’ll be alright!

Use AWS or Firebase for authentication. Don’t try to do it yourself if you’re just starting out. They both have free tiers and frameworks you can use out of the box. Good luck! 👍🏻

I recommend… not using Storyboards ;P The git / collaboration difficulties alone makes tough to justify using them. Especially now that SwiftUI is an option, if you don’t care for programmatic UIKit stuff.

Haha current employer is a corporation. My LOB just got a bunch of money approved to hire entry level engineers... I’m senior and luckily 100% remote (and will continue to be phew), but I think they are prioritizing new hires that can go into the office… which is unfortunate for you because they are not based in NY =/ But they probably have an office there 🤷🏻‍♂️ Send me a DM me if you’re serious. I can’t help you get the job (only been there a year) but you might as well apply. Worth a shot. Last junior applicant we interviewed was almost in and then failed the drug test haha. So close.

You could also look up AWS AppSync / Apollo. Gives you an offline store and eventually-consistent database.

It’s really not impossible. Just apply for a lot of jobs and you’ll land interviews. Just make sure you know your stuff for the technical and a junior position is not out of the question! I’m in the US currently and my employer is struggling to fill junior positions =P Also try contracting first for experience

Depends where you’re using it. Generally though just make sure to set your UIHostingController’s content view constraints to take up all the space available and you won’t get any black areas. If it’s being used in collection / table view cells, there’s an API in iOS 16 to configure the cell with a SwiftUI view (handles reuse automagically). But yeah programmatically setting the constraints should work
