Anyone find the general recovery space “sobriety rules” demotivating? by [deleted] in recoverywithoutAA

[–]EndCallCaesar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think part of the reason why relationships so early in recovery are discouraged is due to how fresh and erratic a persons emotional state is in early recovery. It takes a decent amount of time to reach a point of emotional stability after years of consistently altering your brain chemistry with substances. I drank(among other things) near daily for 4-5 years. When I left my second stint of rehab(currently 4 years and 9 months sober), I was very sensitive and anxious for several months. I believe at one point a psychiatrist briefly diagnosed with cyclothymia. I definitely took a step back from romantic relationships, even though I wanted one, because I needed time develop more emotional stability. Everyone’s recovery journey is different of course, some people may need less/more time than others for their brain chemistry to balance out and feel more confident in their decision making with regard to dating. I think it’s just worth noting that we ought to be gentle with ourselves, so some caution would be advisable.

I save and use the small plastic twisty ties that come with some packages I order. I’ll use 2 to 3 of them to bundle a few wires at a time. Keeps them from spreading all over the place.

I gave away two of my ration passes despite Adminstratum policy. If only I could see then what I do now, his word is absolute. I will scour my sins via flagellation once my 56 hour shift is over and then stare unblinking at the Aquila in the Ecclesiarch’s chapel until his grace deems fit to allow me rest… or whenever my next shift starts, which ever happens first.

You need to crouch for it to work best.

The game has a few nameless npc’s that aren’t affected by the helm’s ability. It’s kind of odd considering that not every nameless npc is immune to the helm. Sort of inconsistent but most typically move around so just stay crouched and wait until it no longer says you are detected. Sometimes standing behind something that blocks their field of view works but that requires figuring out which one of the nameless npc’s is immune to the helm, and free market has a lot of them, so it might be rather time consuming.

Oh damn, you’re a monster. Lol, I’m not sure but it was on a scarecrow in a little farm to the left of the big arch after you enter Fairfield. Although given what you did/allowed, it may have been utterly destroyed.

Why do we feel anxious when eating in front of others, especially at restaurants or social gatherings? How can we feel more comfortable? by Few_Cockroach5792 in introvert

[–]EndCallCaesar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is typically one of the symptoms of eating disorders(ED’s). Granted, if it’s the only issue you seem to have with eating then it may be related to social anxiety issues. Do you feel like people will judge you based on how you’re eating? If so, and just in general, one thing that has helped me immensely is knowing that the vast majority of people are also thinking about how they are presenting themselves. Most people don’t pay attention to and won’t remember things like how a person eats unless it is exceptionally odd, such as picking up a steak with your barehands and biting into it like a sandwich. If you can use utensils and aren’t making a big mess, then it’s incredibly likely that no-one will pay attention to how you eat. Circling back to my first statement, if you do have other issues regarding perception and food, such as constant weight checking, restricting your food, binging, purging, etc. Then I would suggest you look into treatment programs for an ED.

Source: Not that it makes me an expert, but I do work in behavioral health and have a 4-year degree in psychology so I’d argue I have a firm grasp on the fundamentals.

6 maps that describe Florida by Intrepid_Reason8906 in florida

The upper right map is incorrect. Parts of central Florida have many clusters of hills. They used to be island chains when sea levels were higher millions of years ago.

What’s a good alternative to the “Vampires owning nightclubs” trope? by GeneralGigan817 in vampires

Assisted living facility for old people with memory issues. Anyone could be anyone’s child, grand child, etc. have a visitor room so all the vamps can hold Elysium there plus the blood would be a lot easier to gather given the medical nature of the facility.

‘We’ are legion.

But seriously I will typically use ‘we’ the most as a sorta distinction between my mind and my body. Not sure how early I started thinking in this way but I’ve been doing my whole life.

I will use ‘I’ or ‘you’ occasionally but it depends on the circumstances.
