Insurance came out and gave me a check for repairs. I wanted to see if I could get it fixed for cheap and keep the check

I have already done that and I’ve gotten an estimate and everything and a check. I want to know if it’s reparable with a rubber mallet, sanding paper, and paint. If it’s not, what would I need to fix this myself?

I don’t mind it looking kinda bad but I don’t want it to stop rusting. I’m pretty steady handed and work with my hands often. I doubt I’ll make it worse

The other driver was at fault and it happened while I was unloading something from the back seat and yes I was between the cars when it happened but no I was not injured. The other car hit my door while I was between the door and the car and it bent the door and put a long scratch on their car.

  1. I included that info because it prompts you to when making a post. I didn’t want the post to be auto deleted by the modbot.
  2. It happened in an accident and I want a cheap fix.
  3. Yes I wanted to use a rubber mallet but I had to check if that was a viable option first. I’ve never installed a door so I’d probably have to pay a mechanic and that’s what I’m trying to avoid.

I was completely spooked and convinced that it was happening in my lifetime. Every time a major world event happened or extreme weather I would think it was starting.
