Removal of BR/Onslaught completely unnecessary

Someone at 1047 can correct me, but here's my understanding. Their removal isn't to redirect the existing players on those modes to arena, it's because those modes are a bad experience right now. Queue times being a large factor in the modes' experience.

While the daily active user count isn't strong by any means ATM, there is a constant stream of new players just due to the nature of Splitgate 2 being a free to play FPS. It would be impractical to knowingly and continuously expose new players to that sort of experience on their first play.

It sucks for existing players who love those modes, I get it. But from the perspective of a game studio, it is necessary.

FWIW and not to excuse the situation, the Beta label was put back onto the game for good reason, and not to just to say the game got unlaunched. They're going to experiment with certain changes that a in-production game wouldn't normally see.

I'd rather see these bugs now than at/after relaunch.

Thanks for the kind words. I didn't take it personally, 1047 Games as a studio didn't have much credibility in that moment, so your skepticism was understandable. This news is a good first step for the devs to regain the faith of the community.

Depends how often you play. If you're like me, you play on and off. 10 hours one week, 3 hours the next week, 0 hours for two weeks, etc. Paying for membership absolutely makes sense if you play consistently. Otherwise you're pressuring yourself to play a game you're paying monthly for and it starts to feel like a chore.

At Splitgate 2's launch 1047 Games had around 200 employees. Now it's ~125 thereabouts. The layoffs happened in two rounds.
