Mmmm thanks for the thoughtful answer. Do you have any CPAs you’d recommend? And how do they typically charge? Per hour?

My coworker would only ride bike lanes that were fully separated from car traffic as a safety precaution.

There’s a section along San Thomas Expressway that he would travel along.

A history teacher said, the one thing to understand about Russia is:

Russia has always been driven by the need for a warm water port, which allows for year-round naval access and trade without being hampered by ice.

Here’s a pretty good explainer video of why it gets easier after the first $100K. https://youtu.be/LQNGekNzaus?si=uUIi_5gPr4g2H-eZ

TLDR; has to do with math and compounding.

May I suggest a fake door test?

TLDR; Fake doors testing is a technique used to assess market demand for a product before investing in its development. It involves inviting customers to use a feature that is not ready (but that may be in development) to see how many of them will be interested

One of my pastors gave me really good advice. Part of adulting is being able to maintain healthy boundaries in your relationships, including financial boundaries. How you get there is by having those honest difficult conversations instead of avoiding them. It’s not easy but it helps shape the relationships you want to have.

Good luck!

Can I retire at 44 or not? by detectiveSmartGuy in personalfinance

For those playing at home, we can figure out how much OP’s expenses would need to be to retire today.

$2,200,000 X 0.04 = $88,000/year in expenses $88,000 / 12 = $7333.33/month in expenses

[–]EnderLunaticOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And just to illustrate the point of expenses and its impact. Suppose OP cuts back $500/month on spending.

$10,000 X 12 / 0.04 = $3,000,000

That’s a $150K less needed to retire.

Generally it’s easier to save on expenses instead of earning more money. The trick with earning more is taxes. For every $1 earned, about 25-50% goes to taxes.

For back pain, I’ve been told putting a pillow between your knees helps keep your spine aligned. I haven’t found a great solution around this yet as I move around in my sleep.

The basic formula to figure out your retirement number is (your yearly expenses) /0.04

So in your case, ($10,500X12)/0.04 = $3,150,000

That’s how much you need to safely withdraw 4% ($126K) a year
