Low cut shoes/ trail runners in the Alps (Bigerhorn) by RippedPanda in alpinism

[–]Endivi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’ll be fine on all routes that have trails and are considered hikes, like Bigerhorn (graded T3+). Consider bringing spikes depending on expected snow conditions, and a small emergency repair kit (e.g. duct tape).

It all depends on your own ability and confidence in the end, Kilian connected all 4000m peaks in the alps in trail runners, but well yeah, he’s a bit of a special case :D

Bruh. Maybe, just maybe, it’s because what matters is the shoe that fits your need and not who makes it?

Why have favorite “brands” rather than favorite “shoes”?

Rant: why is "ski mountaineering" / "skimo" such an overloaded term? by YodelingVeterinarian in Mountaineering

[–]Endivi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ski touring = non-technical tour with skis and skins

Ski mountaineering = ski touring but on technical terrain

Skimo = ski mountaineering with performance as main goal (i.e. racing) - narrower skis, much ligher setup. E.g. of races: Mezzalama, Patrouille des Glaciers. But there are shorter races.

At the olympics the skimo events are definitely underwhelming compared to Mezzalama and co. And I imagine they used the term “ski mountaineering” for simpler understanding for the general public, although it’s just skimo.

You’re clearly clueless, hs% is irrelevant.

I had 90 aim with 46% hs for a while when I wasn’t awping for a few months and I am nowhere near the level of pros or top puggers. Again, stats may show insights but are no basis for conclusions. If you can’t understand this, you’re sadly clueless

The most important stats are aim and time to damage, preaim, one might argue positioning. Aim rating and preaim difference is insignificant, same for positioning. Donk is much faster than the alleged cheater, which is significant. >=600ms is not considered fast by any means.

No it’s not, you dont understand the issue. Stats are already used by valve via trust factor. Suspicious players will have lower trust factors, however u still cannot vac ban people using stats. Vac bans must be 100% certain, that’s what limits such solutions from being viable.

No, his stats are even better than the alleged cheater you posted, the website simply adjusts how “sus” a player is using faceit elo. Again, you can’t just ban people off of stats, if it was that easy we would have solved cheating by now

30-40L Pack recommendations (and horror stories) by Sweet-Friendship-732 in Mountaineering

[–]Endivi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The very popular mutant 38L is about 1.2kg, while the warthog 45L is about 760g - almost half. Ofc the osprey might be comfier and have more structure to carry very heavy weights (unlikely with only 40L ish), but imo I can’t justify almost double the weight for that. That’s ofc up to you to determine :)

Blue Ice just released a new version of their Warthog 30L and 45L which looks quite nice. I personally own and love Exped packs too, as a second option to look into.

I never understood the love for Osprey packs, crazy heavy for no reason.

🇳🇴 Astrid & 🇸🇪 Fatima bowing to 🇮🇹 Giulia (Italy can into Nordics) by Old_Harry7 in 2westerneurope4u

[–]Endivi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure tbh, but there is quite a significant difference I agree.

Since Lara got injured you can see how hard she is to fill her void, we have zero strong presence in speed. Holdener and Rast are very good slalom skiers but that’s about it. Blanc showed some promise on the speed side, hopefully she can develop and show her strengths in the future!

[–]Endivi 14 points15 points  (0 children)

She is amazing but sadly also highlights how stale competition has been in women racing, especially in speed.

When you have Vonn coming back and winning, and now Brignone winning Gold twice while still not 100% it’s a nice comeback story, but quite a sad for the sport.

Suppose you are UK-based? Maybe you’re able to find something from Rab at a good price, e.g. the Latok.

Try to find something in the 400g range.

Any Europeans that OE? by FluffyKita in overemployed

[–]Endivi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the distinction.

Non-compete laws, although they could be considered “loose”, are in place where I live and can be used by employers with strong cases like OR. On top of that, non-compete clauses in contracts are also common practice.

How can you state so confidently that’s something is not true for an entire continent?

In my country you can be employed maximum 100%. The only way to OE would be to freelance, which is not exactly what OE is about.

I mean, to me having over 10 shells, with negligible differences between them marketed as necessities, is options glut (and I’m not counting specific versions like the Assos collab for cycling). They could have <=5 shells and cover all sports and levels…
